Abstract:The 28th IEEE European Test Symposium (ETS) was held in Venice, Italy, 22–26 May 2023, in a hybrid format. This was the second hybrid venue for ETS since the COVID-19 pandemic. ETS is Europe's premier forum in the area of electronic-based circuits and system testing, reliability, security, and validation. ETS'23 was arranged in five days and the program consisted of keynotes, scientific paper presentations, panels, workshops, highlights/demos from the industry, a PhD forum, and a McCluskey contest. It also included the Test Spring School (TSS). A total of 238 attendees (including both in-person and virtual) registered for the conference from 36 countries among which 102 were from industry and 135 were affiliated with academia (including 53 students).

Abstract:The 24th ACM International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM 2015) will be held from Oct 19-23, 2015 in Melbourne, Australia. CIKM is a top-tier ACM conference in the areas of information retrieval, knowledge management and databases. Since 1992, it has successfully brought together leading researchers and developers from the three communities, with the purpose of identifying challenging problems facing the development of advanced knowledge and information systems, and shaping future research directions through the publication of high quality, applied and theoretical research findings. With CIKM 2015, we will continue the tradition of promoting collaboration among multiple areas and are arranging an exciting program for the conference, including workshops, tutorials, industry speakers, keynote speakers, research papers, and posters.

Abstract:CACIC’11 was the seventeenth Congress in the CACIC series. It was organized by the School of Computer Science of the University of La Plata. The Congress included 11 Workshops with 148 accepted papers, 3 main Conference, 4 invited tutorials, different meetings related with Computer Science Education (Professors, PhD students, Curricula) and an International School with 5 courses. (http://www.cacic2011.edu.ar/). CACIC 2011 was organized following the traditional Congress format, with 11 Workshops covering a diversity of dimensions of Computer Science Research. Each topic was supervised by a committee of three chairs of different Universities. The call for papers attracted a total of 281 submissions. An average of 2.5 review reports were collected for each paper, for a grand total of 702 review reports that involved about 400 different reviewers. A total of 148 full papers, involving 393 authors and 77 Universities, were accepted and 25 of them were selected for this book.

Abstract:Welcome to the proceedings of the 43rd ACM Technical Symposium on Computer Science Education, or SIGCSE 2012, where you will find the archival record of over one hundred papers as well as multiple other session formats that document the latest in computer science education: research, tool building, teaching, curriculum and philosophy. Reflecting our location in North Carolina's renowned Research Triangle, this year's conference features the three themes of "Teaching, Learning, and Collaborating" throughout the sessions. Teaching, learning, and collaborating occur inside and outside of the classroom, and among various combinations of students, academics, industry professionals, and others. We are pleased to announce the winners of the two annual SIGCSE awards. Professor Harold (Hal) Abelson of Massachusetts Institute of Technology will receive the SIGCSE award for Outstanding Contribution to Computer Science Education, and will provide Friday's keynote address. Jane Prey of Microsoft Research will accept the SIGCSE Award for Lifetime Service to the Computer Science Education Community and speak at our First Timer's Lunch. In addition, we've invited speakers to deliver two more keynote presentations. Frederick P. Brooks, Jr., from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will deliver Thursday's keynote address titled "The Teacher's Job is to Design Learning Experiences; not Primarily to Impart Information." Fernanda Viegas and Martin Wattenberg from Google's "Big Picture" visualization group will jointly address Saturday's luncheon with "Through the Looking Glass: Talking about the World with Visualization." Abstract:The International Symposium on Distributed Computing and Artificial Intelligence is an annual forum that brings together ideas, projects, lessons, etc. associated with distributed computing, artificial intelligence and its applications in different themes. This meeting has been held at the University of Salamanca from the 22th to the 24th of October 2008. The technology transfer in this field is still a challenge and for that reason this type of contributions has been specially considered in this edition. This conference is the forum in which to present application of innovative techniques to complex problems. The artificial intelligence is changing our society. Its application in distributed environments, such as the Internet, electronic commerce, mobile communications, wireless devices, distributed computing, and so on is increasing and is becoming an element of high added value and economic potential, both industrial and research. These technologies are changing constantly as a result of the large research and technical effort being undertaken in both universities and businesses. The exchange of ideas between scientists and technicians from both academic and business areas is essential to facilitate the development of systems that meet the demands of today's society. This symposium has evolved from the Iberoamerican Symposium on Distributed Computing and continues to grow and prosper in its role as one of the premier conferences devoted to the quickly changing landscape of distributed computing, artificial intelligence and the application of AI to distributed systems. This year’s technical program is extremely strong and diverse, with contributions in both established and evolving areas of research. Submitted papers came from over 16 different countries, representing a truly "wide area network" of research activity. The DCAI technical program includes 88 papers (74 long papers, 12 short papers and 2 doctoral consortium) selected from a submission pool of 142 papers, from 16 different countries.

Abstract:This volume of the Electronic Proceedings in Theoretical Computer Science (EPTCS) contains revised selected papers that were initially presented at the 13th International Workshop on Trends in Functional Programming in Education (TFPIE 2024). This workshop was held at Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ, USA on January 9, 2024. It was co-located with the 25th International Symposium on Trends in Functional Programming (TFP 2024), which took place on January 10-12, 2024. The goal of TFPIE is to gather researchers, teachers, and professionals that use, or are interested in the use of, functional programming in education. TFPIE aims to be a venue where novel ideas, classroom-tested ideas, and works-in-progress on the use of functional programming in education are discussed. TFPIE workshops have previously been held in St Andrews, Scotland (2012), Provo, Utah, USA (2013), Soesterberg, The Netherlands (2014), Sophia-Antipolis, France (2015), College Park, MD, USA (2016), Canterbury, UK (2017), Gothenburg, Sweden (2018), Vancouver, Canada (2019), Krakow, Poland (2020), online due to COVID-19 (2021, 2022, with some talks from TFPIE 2022 also presented in person at the Lambda Days in Krakow, Poland), and Boston, MA, USA (2023, back in-person).

Abstract:This paper brings together the history of Computer Science Education in Ireland. It aims to plot Ireland's road-map leading to the implementation of formal Computer Science Education in schools. This road map starts with the first notions of introducing secondary school children to computing in the 1970s up to the roll out of a nationwide Computer Science curriculum in secondary school at the Senior Cycle level in 2018. This story is only available in disparate publications and reports, and piecing together the entire story is often difficult especially if you are from another jurisdiction and unfamiliar with the Irish education system. This paper collates the available literature as well as the authors local knowledge of the process, into one usable form that may be of interest locally and of value to other jurisdictions that are beginning their planning of national or regional curricula. This paper describes the development and the current situation of the formal curricula and standards in Computer Science at second level. The current landscape of Computing Education at primary level, which is currently in the planning stages in Ireland, will also be described. Additionally, an investigation into the current landscape of Computing Education in schools in the international jurisdictions that directly influenced the Irish roll out takes place, to evaluate their progress and summarize any lessons learned that might provide insights for Ireland going forward

Abstract:Digital competence (DC) is a broad set of skills, attitudes, and knowledge for confident, critical and responsible use of digital technologies in every aspect of life. DC proves essential in the contemporary digital landscape, yet its diffusion is hindered by biases, misunderstandings, and limited awareness. Teaching Informatics in the educational curriculum is increasingly supported by the institutions but faces serious challenges, such as teacher upskilling and support. In response, grassroots movements promoting computing literacy in an informal setting have grown, including EU Code Week, whose vision is to develop computing skills while promoting diversity and raising awareness of the importance of digital skills. This study extensively analyses EU Code Week editions spanning 2014 to 2021 across European Union member states, pursuing three primary objectives: firstly, to evaluate the teacher engagement in the campaign in terms of penetration, retention, and spatial distribution; secondly, to characterise the multifaceted audience and themes embraced by these initiatives; and lastly, to investigate the influence of socio-economic factors on engagement. The investigation uncovers the underlying mechanisms fostering Code Week’s engagement, providing insights to campaign organisers for strategic planning and resource allocation in future editions. Moreover, the analysis reveals that the most engaged areas are characterised by lower income, as well as lower digital literacy, restricted access to technology, and a less established computer education, suggesting that Code Week thrives precisely where its impact is most needed.

Abstract:The 13th ACM Multimedia Systems Conference (and its associated workshops: MMVE 2022, NOSSDAV 2022, and GameSys 2022) took place from the 14th -- 17th of June 2022 in Athlone, Ireland. The week after, the ACM International Conference on Interactive Media Experiences took place in Aveiro, Portugal from the 22nd -- 24th of June. Both conferences are strongly committed to creating a diverse, inclusive and accessible forum to discuss the latest research on multimedia systems and the technology experiences they enable and have been actively working towards this goal over the last number of years. While this is challenging in itself, demanding systematic and continuous efforts at various levels, the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic introduced even more challenges. As it has repeatedly been coined (and shown), restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic have had a significant impact on many scholars, such as female academics [1,2], caregivers [3], young scientists [4] and may have exacerbated existing inequalities [5], despite the increased participation possibilities introduced by fully online conferences. The diversity and inclusion chairs of both IMX and MMSys were therefore highly motivated to adopt a set of measures aimed at stimulating the inclusion of underrepresented groups, offering various possibilities for participation, and raising awareness of diversity (and implications of a lack of diversity) for community development and research activities.

ICCBDAI 2022 aims to bring together researchers and practitioners from academia and industry around the world to discuss latest progress and development in this fields. ICCBDAI 2022 would be the international platform for knowledge sharing as well as creating favorable atmosphere for collaboration initiations. ICCBDAI 2022 was organized by Hunan University, Huaihua University, Beijing University of Technology and University of Dunaújváros. We are honored to have Prof. Wangdong Yang and Prof. Chi Liu to serve as our general chair. And we are privileged to have invited 4 distinguished experts as our keynote speakers. They are Prof. Okyay Kaynak from University of Birmingham, Prof. Chengzhong Xu from University of Macau, Prof. Zhi-Hui Zhan from South China University of Technology, and Prof. Dianhui Wang from China University of Mining and Technology. Each keynote speaker were allocated around 40 minutes to deliver their speech and a Q&A discussion were also arranged in between. There are also another session of 20 workshop presentations after the keynote speeches. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all Technical Committee Members and reviewers for their valuable inputs in shaping the conference program and reviewing the submitted papers.
