Abstract:Silver inks are often associated with harmful solvents and poor sustainability, which can be overcome through better materials selection and recycling. The ink developed in this article comprised bio-derived materials, with the exception of silver, and achieved a resistivity of 4.55 × 10–5 Ω cm, comparable to that of market-leading silver inks. The ink was produced at a 1.5 kg scale and could be printed using industrially relevant print methods, without requiring local exhaust ventilation (LEV) during production or printing. The functionality of the ink was demonstrated by producing a conducting coil capable of lighting a light-emitting diode (LED), using a mobile phone’s near-field communication (NFC) coil as the power source. The recycling of a simplified NFC coil was demonstrated, allowing recovery of the LED, substrate, and silver flakes.Graphical abstract
