Abstract:• Intraoperative adjuncts have enabled improvements in surgical outcomes in thyroidectomy. • Energy devices are safe adjuncts for intraoperative hemostasis and can decrease operative times. • Intraoperative recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) monitoring is increasingly used in thyroidectomy. It serves various functions intraoperatively, including identifying the RLN, detecting the presence of its injury, and avoiding the risk of bilateral RLN injury. It may also reduce the risk of transient and permanent Intraoperative adjuncts have enabled improvements in surgical outcomes in thyroidectomy.
