Abstract:Fractals, Ahead of Print. In this paper, we investigate the average geodesic distance on Sierpiński torus networks. We construct Sierpiński torus networks based on the classic Sierpiński carpet in an iterative way. By applying finite patterns on integrals, we deduce the exact value of the average geodesic distance of the Sierpiński torus. Furthermore, the asymptotic formula for the average geodesic distance of the corresponding networks can be obtained.

Abstract:In this paper, we firstly define a decreasing sequence {Pn(S)} by the the generation of the Sierpinski gasket where each Pn(S) can be obtained in finite steps. Then we prove that the Hausdorff measure Hs(S) of the Sierpinski gasket S can be approximated by {Pn(S)} with Pn(S)/1+1/2n−3)8≤Hs(S)≤Pn(S). An algorithm is presented to get Pn(S) for n≤5. As an application, we obtain the best lower bound of Hs(S) till now: Hs(S)≥0.5631.

Abstract:Geodesics are used widely in computer graphics and other field.MMP is a sophisticated method while geodesics are calculated on triangular meshes.We achieved a precision geodesics algorithm based on MMP,and modified the error which occurred when adopting the Vitaly Surazhsky's method.At the window propagating,lamp-house-radial method was used instead of using an approximate type.In dealing with window intersection,the complex and multiplex sorts were treated with layered enumerate type.A clear and comprehensible algorithm used in backtracing.At last,the result was presented,the run time is little more than Vitaly Surazhsky's to some exerd,but the proposed method is precise.

In this paper, drawing inspiration from Gromov's idea, we use the finite pattern method proposed by Wang et al. [Average geodesic distance of Sierpinski gasket and Sierpinski networks, Fractals 25(5) (2017) 1750044] to figure out the exact formula of edge-Wiener index of the Sierpinski fractal networks.

Abstract:Following the work on non-stationary fractal interpolation (Mathematics 7, 666 (2019)), we study non-stationary or statistically self-similar fractal interpolation on the Sierpiński gasket (SG). This article provides an upper bound of box dimension of the proposed interpolants in certain spaces under suitable assumption on the corresponding Iterated Function System. Along the way, we also prove that the proposed non-stationary fractal interpolation functions have finite energy.

We prove, in particular, that the FIF are Hölder functions under specific conditions. In the final section, we obtain some bounds on the fractal dimension of FIF.

Abstract:Geodesic, the shortest path between two points on a three-dimensional surface, is analogous to a straight line between two points on a plane, and is an important concept in differential geometry. It is utilized extensively in computer graphics, image processing, computational geometry, computer vision, and other fields. Geodesic algorithms have also been studied extensively since the 1980s, with many researchers proposing various practical algorithms. This paper summarizes the definition, property, and algorithms associated with the shortest geodesic and straightest geodesic on a mesh after introducing the concept of geodesic on smooth and polyhedral surfaces. The main algorithms discussed are discrete geodesic algorithms on polyhedral surfaces, including the exact shortest geodesic algorithms and the approximate shortest geodesic algorithms on integral meshes and defective meshes. Various algorithms are also analyzed in depth, with the basic underlying idea and method of realization of each algorithm discussed in detail, and the merits and demerits of each algorithm compared from different perspectives. Further, their time complexity, space complexity, and fields of application are also compared. Finally, the prospects for discrete geodesic research are discussed with a view towards deeper study of geodesic.

Abstract:The closed-form solution for the average distance of a deterministic network-the Sierpinski network-is found. This important quantity is calculated exactly with the help of recursion relations, which are based on the self-similar network structure and enable one to derive the precise formula analytically. The rigorous solution obtained confirms our previous numerical result, which shows that the average distance grows logarithmically with the number of network nodes. The result is at variance with that derived from random networks.

Abstract:It is well-known that for a Brownian motion, if we change the medium to be inhomogeneous by a measure μ, then the new motion (time changed process) will diffuse according to a different metric D(·, ·). In [27], Kigami initiated a general scheme to construct such metrics through some self-similar weight functions g on the symbolic space. In this paper we give an in-depth study of this construction on the nested fractals and the generalized Sierpinski carpets; we assume further that the weight functions g := ga is generated by the “symmetric” weights a. LetM be the set of a such that Dga defines a metric, and let S be the boundary ofM. We provide a recursive weight transfer construction to obtain the M on the nested fractals, and illustrate the construction by the Lindstrøm snowflake; for the Sierpinski carpet we use a symmetric argument directly to obtain theM. Our main result is to characterize the metrics from ga, a ∈ S satisfy the metric chain condition (MCC), and are equivalent to the geodesic metrics. The MCC is used for the lower estimate of the sub-Gaussian heat kernel. This together with the upper estimate in [27] allows us to have a concrete class of metrics for time change, and for the two sided sub-Gaussian heat kernel estimate.

Abstract:Vicsek fractals are one of the most interesting classes of fractals and the study of their structural properties is important. In this paper, the exact formula for the mean geodesic distance of Vicsek fractals is found. The quantity is computed precisely through the recurrence relations derived from the self-similar structure of the fractals considered. The obtained exact solution exhibits that the mean geodesic distance approximately increases as a power-law function of the number of nodes, with the exponent equal to the reciprocal of the fractal dimension. The closed-form solution is confirmed by extensive numerical calculations.
