Abstract:In this paper we study the $L^p$ boundedness of the centred and the uncentred Hardy--Littlewood maximal operators on the class $\Upsilon_{a,b}$, $2\leq a\leq b$, of trees with $(a,b)$-bounded geometry. We find the sharp range of $p$, depending on $a$ and $b$, where the centred maximal operator is bounded on $L^p(\mathfrak T)$ for all $\mathfrak T$ in $\Upsilon_{a,b}$. We show that there exists a tree in $\Upsilon_{a,b}$ for which the uncentred maximal function is bounded on $L^p$ if and only if $p=\infty$. We also extend these results to graphs which are strictly roughly isometric, in the sense of Kanai, to trees in the class $\Upsilon_{a,b}$.

Triangular maximal operators on locally finite trees

Abstract:We introduce the centred and the uncentred triangular maximal operators $\mathcal T$ and $\mathcal U$, respectively, on any locally finite tree in which each vertex has at least three neighbours. We prove that both $\mathcal T$ and $\mathcal U$ are bounded on $L^p$ for every $p$ in $(1,\infty]$, that $\mathcal T$ is also bounded on $L^1(\mathfrak T)$, and that $\mathcal U$ is not of weak type $(1,1)$ on homogeneous trees. Our proof of the $L^p$ boundedness of $\mathcal U$ hinges on the geometric approach of A. Córdoba and R. Fefferman. We also establish $L^p$ bounds for some related maximal operators. Our results are in sharp contrast with the fact that the centred and the uncentred Hardy--Littlewood maximal operators (on balls) may be unbounded on $L^p$ for every $p<\infty$ even on some trees where the number of neighbours is uniformly bounded.

Abstract:We introduce a discrete version of weighted Morrey spaces, and discuss the inclusion relations of these spaces. In addition, we obtain the boundedness of discrete weighted Hardy-Littlewood maximal operators on discrete weighted Lebesgue spaces by establishing a discrete Calderón-Zygmund decomposition for weighted -sequences. Furthermore, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the boundedness of the discrete Hardy-Littlewood maximal operators on discrete weighted Morrey spaces are discussed. Particularly, the necessary and sufficient conditions are also discussed for the discrete power weights.

Abstract:Abstract Let $$0<q\le \infty $$ 0 < q ≤ ∞ , b be a slowly varying function and $$ \Phi : [0,\infty ) \longrightarrow [0,\infty ) $$ Φ : [ 0 , ∞ ) ⟶ [ 0 , ∞ ) be an increasing function with $$\Phi (0)=0$$ Φ ( 0 ) = 0 and $$\lim \limits _{r \rightarrow \infty }\Phi (r)=\infty $$ lim r → ∞ Φ ( r ) = ∞ . In this paper, we introduce a new class of function spaces $$L_{\Phi ,q,b}$$ L Φ , q , b which unify and generalize the Lorentz-Karamata spaces with $$\Phi (t)=t^p$$ Φ ( t ) = t p and the Orlicz-Lorentz spaces with $$b\equiv 1$$ b ≡ 1 . Based on the new spaces, we introduce five new Hardy spaces containing martingales, the so-called Orlicz-Lorentz-Karamata Hardy martingale spaces and then develop a theory of these martingale Hardy spaces. To be precise, we first investigate several properties of Orlicz-Lorentz-Karamata spaces and then present Doob’s maximal inequalities by using Hardy’s inequalities. The characterization of these Hardy martingale spaces are constructed via the atomic decompositions. As applications of the atomic decompositions, martingale inequalities and the relation of the different martingale Hardy spaces are presented. The dual theorems and a new John-Nirenberg type inequality for the new framework are also established. Moreover, we study the boundedness of fractional integral operators on Orlicz-Lorentz-Karamata Hardy martingale spaces. The results obtained here generalize the previous results for Lorentz-Karamata Hardy martingale spaces as well as for Orlicz-Lorentz Hardy martingales spaces. Especially, we remove the condition that b is non-decreasing as in [38, 39] and the condition $$q_{\Phi ^{-1}}<1/q$$ q Φ - 1 < 1 / q in [24], respectively.

Abstract:We summarize some results as well as we prove some new results about the Orlicz–Lorentz–Karamata spaces and martingale Hardy Orlicz–Lorentz–Karamata spaces. More precisely, Doob's maximal inequality for submartingales and Burkholder–Davis–Gundy inequality are presented. We also show some fundamental martingale inequalities and modular inequalities. Additionally, based on atomic decompositions, duality theorems and fractional integral operators are discussed. As applications in Fourier analysis, we consider the Walsh–Fourier series on Orlicz–Lorentz–Karamata spaces. The dyadic maximal operators on martingale Hardy Orlicz–Lorentz–Karamata spaces are presented. The boundedness of maximal Fejér operator is proved, which further implies some convergence results of the Fejér means.

Abstract:This work deals with the characterization of eigenfunctions of the Laplacian $\mathcal{L}$ on a homogeneous tree $\mathcal{X}$, which satisfy certain growth conditions. More precisely, we shall prove that the Poisson transform on $\mathcal{X}$ provides an one-to-one correspondence between the subspace of all Hardy-type eigenfunctions of $\mathcal{L}$ on $\mathcal{X}$ and the Lebesgue spaces (possibly the set of all complex measures) on the boundary of $\mathcal{X}$.

Self-improving boundedness of the maximal operator on quasi-Banach lattices over spaces of homogeneous type

Abstract:We prove the self-improvement property of the Hardy--Littlewood maximal operator on quasi-Banach lattices with the Fatou property in the setting of spaces of homogeneous type. Our result is a generalization of the boundedness criterion obtained in 2010 by Lerner and Ombrosi for maximal operators on quasi-Banach function spaces over Euclidean spaces. The specialty of the proof for spaces of homogeneous type lies in using adjacent grids of Hytönen--Kairema dyadic cubes and studying the maximal operator alongside its dyadic version. Then we apply the obtained result to variable Lebesgue spaces over spaces of homogeneous type.

Variable martingale Hardy-Lorentz-Karamata spaces and their applications in Fourier Analysis

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a new class of function spaces, which unify and generalize Lorentz-Karamata spaces, variable Lorentz spaces and other several classical function spaces. Based on the new spaces, we develop the theory of variable martingale Hardy-Lorentz-Karamata spaces and apply it to Fourier Analysis. To be precise, we discuss the basic properties of Lorentz-Karamata spaces with variable exponents. We introduce five variable martingale Hardy-Lorentz-Karamata spaces and characterize them via simple atoms as well as via atoms. As applications of the atomic decompositions, dual theorems and the generalized John-Nirenberg theorem for the new framework are presented. Moreover, we obtain the boundedness of $\sigma$-sublinear operator defined on variable martingale Hardy-Lorentz-Karamata spaces, which leads to martingale inequalities and the relation of the five variable martingale Hardy-Lorentz-Karamata spaces. Also, we investigate the boundedness of fractional integral operators in this new framework. Finally, we deal with the applications of variable martingale Hardy-Lorentz-Karamata spaces in Fourier analysis by using the previous results. More precisely, we show that the partial sums of the Walsh-Fourier series converge to the function in norm if $f\in L_{p(\cdot),q,b}$ with $1<p_-\le p_+<\infty$. The Fej\'{e}r summability method is also studied and it is proved that the maximal Fej\'{e}r operator is bounded from variable martingale Hardy-Lorentz-Karamata spaces to variable Lorentz-Karamata spaces. As a consequence, we get conclusions about almost everywhere and norm convergence of Fej\'{e}r means. The results obtained in this paper generalize the results for martingale Hardy-Lorentz-Karamata spaces and variable martingale Hardy-Lorentz spaces. Especially, we remove the condition that $b$ is nondecreasing in previous literature.

Abstract:Let be a family of open subsets of a topological space X equipped with a nonnegative Borel measure satisfying some basic properties. We establish sharp quantitative weighted norm inequalities for the Hardy–Littlewood maximal operator associated with in terms of mixed – constants. The main ingredient to prove this result is a sharp form of a weak reverse Hölder inequality for the weights. As an application of this inequality, we also provide a quantitative version of the open property for weights. Next, we prove a covering lemma in this setting and using this lemma establish the endpoint Fefferman–Stein weighted inequality for the maximal operator . Moreover, vector-valued extensions for maximal inequalities are also obtained in this context.

Abstract:We introduce and give a more or less complete study of a family of branching-Toeplitz operators on the Hilbert space $\ell^2(T_q)$ indexed by a rooted homogeneous tree $T_q$ of degree $q\ge 2$. The finite dimensional analogues of such operators form a very natural family of structured sparse matrices called branching-Toeplitz matrices and will also be investigated. The branching-Toeplitz operators/matrices in this paper should be viewed as natural generalizations of the standard Toeplitz operators/matrices. We will apply our results to construct a family of determinantal point processes on homogeneous trees which are branching-type strong stationary stochastic processes.

Abstract:The main goal of this paper is to provide a complete characterization of the weak-type boundedness of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator, $M$, on weighted Lorentz spaces $\Lambda^p_u(w)$, whenever $p>1$. This solves a problem left open in \cite{crs:crs}. Abstract:A theorem of Strichartz states that if a uniformly bounded bi-infinite sequence of functions on the Euclidean spaces, satisfies the condition that the Laplacian acting on a function in this sequence yields the next one, then each function in this sequence is an eigenfunction of the Laplacian. We consider a generalization of this result for homogeneous trees, where we replace bounded functions by tempered distributions and the Laplacian by multiplier operators acting on the tempered distributions. After establishing the result in this general context, we narrow our focus to specific cases, which includes important examples of multiplier operators such as heat and Schrödinger operator, ball and sphere averages of function.

Abstract:We consider Hardy operators on the half-space, that is, ordinary and fractional Schrödinger operators with potentials given by the appropriate power of the distance to the boundary. We show that the scales of homogeneous Sobolev spaces generated by the Hardy operators and by the fractional Laplacian are comparable with each other when the coupling constant is not too large in a quantitative sense. Our results extend those in the whole Euclidean space and rely on recent heat kernel bounds.
