Abstract:We consider nonlinear Schrödinger equations on flat tori satisfying a simple and explicit Diophantine non-degeneracy condition. Provided that the nonlinearity contains a cubic term, we prove the almost global existence and stability of most of the small solutions in high regularity Sobolev spaces. To this end, we develop a normal form approach designed to handle general resonant Hamiltonian partial differential equations for which it is possible to modulate the frequencies by using the initial data.

Abstract:In this paper we consider the stabilization of non-fundamental unstable stationary solutions of the cubic nonlinear Schrodinger equation. Specifically we study the stabilization of radially symmetric solutions with nodes and asymmetric complex stationary solutions. For the first ones we find partial stabilization similar to that recently found for vortex solutions while for the later ones stabilization does not seem possible.

Abstract:We consider the 1D cubic NLS on and prove a blow-up result for functions that are of borderline regularity, i.e. for any for the Sobolev scale and for the Fourier–Lebesgue scale. This is done by identifying at this regularity a certain functional framework from which solutions exit in finite time. This functional framework allows, after using a pseudo-conformal transformation, to reduce the problem to a large-time study of a periodic Schrödinger equation with non-autonomous cubic nonlinearity. The blow-up result corresponds to an asymptotic completeness result for the new equation. We prove it using Bourgain's method and exploiting the oscillatory nature of the coefficients involved in the time-evolution of the Fourier modes. Finally, as an application we exhibit singular solutions of the binormal flow. More precisely, we give conditions on the curvature and the torsion of an initial smooth curve such that the constructed solutions generate several singularities in finite time.

Abstract:We prove an "almost conservation law" to obtain global-in-time well-posedness for the cubic, defocussing nonlinear Schrödinger equation in H^s(R^n) when n = 2, 3 and s > 4/7, 5/6, respectively.

Global existence and large-time behavior of solutions to cubic nonlinear Schrödinger systems without coercive conserved quantity

Abstract:In this article, we investigate the large-time behavior of small solutions to a system of one-dimensional cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equations with two components. In previous studies, a structural condition on the nonlinearity has been employed to guarantee the existence of a coercive, mass-type conserved quantity. We identify a new class of systems that do not satisfy such a condition and thus lack a coercive conserved quantity. Nonetheless, we establish the global existence and describe the large-time behavior for small solutions in this class. In this setting, the asymptotic profile is described in terms of solutions to the corresponding system of ordinary differential equations (ODEs). A key element of our analysis is the use of a quartic conserved quantity associated with the ODE system. Moreover, for a specific example within this class, we solve the ODE system explicitly, showing that the asymptotic behavior is expressed using Jacobi elliptic functions.

Exponential Collocation Methods for the Cubic Schrödinger Equation

Abstract:In this paper we derive and analyse new exponential collocation methods to efficiently solve the cubic Schrödinger Cauchy problem on a d-dimensional torus. Energy preservation is a key feature of the cubic Schrödinger equation. It is proved that the novel methods can be of arbitrarily high order which exactly or nearly preserve the continuous energy of the original continuous system. The existence and uniqueness, regularity, global convergence, nonlinear stability of the new methods are studied in detail. Two practical exponential collocation methods are constructed and two numerical experiments are included. The numerical results illustrate the efficiency of the new methods in comparison with existing numerical methods in the literature.
A Finite Difference Scheme for (2+1)D Cubic-Quintic Nonlinear Schrödinger Equations with Nonlinear Damping

Abstract:Solitons of the purely cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation in a space dimension of $n \geq 2$ suffer critical and supercritical collapses. These solitons can be stabilized in a cubic-quintic nonlinear medium. In this paper, we analyze the Crank-Nicolson finite difference scheme for the (2+1)D cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrödinger equation with cubic damping. We show that both the discrete solution, in the discrete $L^2$-norm, and discrete energy are bounded. By using appropriate settings and estimations, the existence and the uniqueness of the numerical solution are proved. In addition, the error estimations are established in terms of second order for both space and time in discrete $L^2$-norm and $H^1$-norm. Numerical simulations for the (2+1)D cubic-quintic nonlinear Schrödinger equation with cubic damping are conducted to validate the convergence.

Abstract:This work is concerned with the study of explicit solutions for a generalized coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations (NLS) system with variable coefficients. Indeed, by employing similarity transformations, we show the existence of rogue wave and dark–bright soliton-like solutions for such a generalized NLS system, provided the coefficients satisfy a Riccati system. As a result of the multiparameter solution of the Riccati system, the nonlinear dynamics of the solution can be controlled. Finite-time singular solutions in the L∞ norm for the generalized coupled NLS system are presented explicitly. Finally, an n-dimensional transformation between a variable coefficient NLS coupled system and a constant coupled system coefficient is presented. Soliton and rogue wave solutions for this high-dimensional system are presented as well.

Abstract:We consider the nonlinear Schrodinger equation \begin{document}${u_t} = i\Delta u + {\left| u \right|^\alpha }u\;\;\;\;{\rm{on}}\;\;\;{\mathbb{R}^N},\;\;\alpha >0$ \end{document} for \begin{document}$H^1$\end{document} -subcritical or critical nonlinearities: \begin{document}$(N-2) α ≤ 4$\end{document} . Under the additional technical assumptions \begin{document}$α≥ 2$\end{document} (and thus \begin{document}$N≤4$\end{document} ), we construct \begin{document}$H^1$\end{document} solutions that blow up in finite time with explicit blow-up profiles and blow-up rates. In particular, blowup can occur at any given finite set of points of \begin{document}$\mathbb{R}^N$\end{document} . The construction involves explicit functions \begin{document}$U$\end{document} , solutions of the ordinary differential equation \begin{document}$U_t=|U|^α U$\end{document} . In the simplest case, \begin{document}$U(t,x)=(|x|^k-α t)^{-\frac 1α}$\end{document} for \begin{document}$t , \begin{document}$x∈ \mathbb{R}^N$\end{document} . For \begin{document}$k$\end{document} sufficiently large, \begin{document}$U$\end{document} satisfies \begin{document}$|Δ U|\ll U_t$\end{document} close to the blow-up point \begin{document}$(t,x)=(0,0)$\end{document} , so that it is a suitable approximate solution of the problem. To construct an actual solution u close to U, we use energy estimates and a compactness argument.
On an intercritical log-modified nonlinear Schrodinger equation in two spatial dimensions

Abstract:We consider a dispersive equation of Schr{ö}dinger type with a non-linearity slightly larger than cubic by a logarithmic factor. This equation is supposed to be an effective model for stable two dimensional quantum droplets with LHY correction. Mathematically, it is seen to be mass supercritical and energy subcritical with a sign-indefinite nonlinearity. For the corresponding initial value problem, we prove global in-time existence of strong solutions in the energy space. Furthermore, we prove the existence and uniqueness (up to symmetries) of nonlinear ground states and the orbital stability of the set of energy minimizers. We also show that for the corresponding model in 1D a stronger stability result is available.

Abstract:In this work we consider a system of nonlinear Schrödinger equations whose nonlinearities satisfy a power-type-growth. First, we prove that the Cauchy problem is local and global well-posedness in $L^2$ and $H^1$. Next, we establish the existence of ground state solutions. Then we use these solutions to study the dichotomy of global existence versus blow-up in finite time. Similar results were presented in the reference Noguera N. and Pastor A. 2022 <a class="link-external link-https" href="https://doi.org/10.1142/S0219199720500236" rel="external noopener nofollow">this https URL</a> for the special case when the growth of the nonlinearities was quadratic. Here we will extend them to systems with nolinearities of order $p$ (cubic, quartic and so on). Finally, we recover some known results for two particular systems, one with quadratic and the other with cubic growth nolinearities.

Abstract:The blowup is studied for the nonlinear Schrodinger equation iu(t) + Delta u + vertical bar u vertical bar(p) 1(u) = 0 with p is odd and p >= 1 + 4/N-2 (the energy-critical or energy-supercritical case). It is shown that the solution with negative energy E (u(0)) < 0 blows up in finite or in finite time. A new proof is also presented for the previous result in [9], in which a similar result in a case of energy-subcritical was shown.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with a one dimensional (1D) derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation with periodic boundary conditions \begin{equation*} \mi u_t+u_{xx}+\mi |u|^2u_x=0, \ \ x\in \mathbb{T}:=\mathbb{R}/2\pi\mathbb{Z}. \end{equation*} We show that above equation admits a family of real analytic quasi-periodic solutions with two Diophantine frequencies. The proof is based on a partial Birkhoff normal form and KAM method.

Abstract:The possibility of finite-time, dispersive blow up for nonlinear equations of Schroedinger type is revisited. This mathematical phenomena is one of the possible explanations for oceanic and optical rogue waves. In dimension one, the possibility of dispersive blow up for nonlinear Schroedinger equations already appears in [9]. In the present work, the existing results are extended in several ways. In one direction, the theory is broadened to include the Davey-Stewartson and Gross-Pitaevskii equations. In another, dispersive blow up is shown to obtain for nonlinear Schroedinger equations in spatial dimensions larger than one and for more general power-law nonlinearities. As a by-product of our analysis, a sharp global smoothing estimate for the integral term appearing in Duhamel's formula is obtained.

Abstract:The generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation with anti-cubic and cubic-quintic-septic nonlinearities is considered. A series of direct transformations is performed for the traveling wave reduction of the original equation. The implicit function method is used for nonlinear ordinary differential equation with some constraints on the parameters. Some analytical solutions are found in the form of periodic and solitary waves. Abstract:In this paper we consider the nonlinear Schr\"o\-din\-ger equation $i u_t +\Delta u +\kappa |u|^\alpha u=0$. We prove that if $\alpha <\frac {2} {N}$ and $\Im \kappa <0$, then every nontrivial $H^1$-solution blows up in finite or infinite time. In the case $\alpha >\frac {2} {N}$ and $\kappa \in {\mathbb C}$, we improve the existing low energy scattering results in dimensions $N\ge 7$. More precisely, we prove that if $ \frac {8} {N + \sqrt{ N^2 +16N }} < \alpha \le \frac {4} {N} $, then small data give rise to global, scattering solutions in $H^1$.
