Abstract:We prove the existence of radial self-similar singular solutions for the mass supercritical Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation far from the critical regime and, more generally, branches of such solutions for the Complex Ginzburg-Landau Equation. We are also able to control their monotone index (number of monotone intervals). In particular, we prove the existence of monotone radial self-similar singular solutions for the cubic Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation. The paper combines sharp analytic bounds of the solutions at infinity with computer assisted bounds for the solutions around zero and their matching at an intermediate value.

On the multi-bubble blow-up solutions to rough nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations

Abstract: We are concerned with the multi-bubble blow-up solutions to rough nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations in the focusing mass-critical case. In both dimensions one and two, we construct the finite time multi-bubble solutions, which concentrate at $K$ distinct points, $1\leq K<\infty$, and behave asymptotically like a sum of pseudo-conformal blow-up solutions in the pseudo-conformal space $\Sigma$ near the blow-up time. The upper bound of the asymptotic behavior is closely related to the flatness of noise at blow-up points. Moreover, we prove the conditional uniqueness of multi-bubble solutions in the case where the asymptotic behavior in the energy space $H^1$ is of the order $(T-t)^{3+\zeta}$, $\zeta>0$. These results are also obtained for nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations with lower order perturbations, particularly, in the absence of the classical pseudo-conformal symmetry and the conversation law of energy. The existence results are applicable to the canonical deterministic nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation and complement the previous work [43]. The conditional uniqueness results are new in both the stochastic and deterministic case.

We prove the finite/infinite time blow-up of non-radial solutions with negative energy. Our result serves as a valuable complement to the existing literature, offering an improvement in our understanding of the subject matter.

Stable blowup for focusing semilinear wave equations in all dimensions

Abstract:We consider the wave equation with focusing power nonlinearity. The associated ODE in time gives rise to a self-similar solution known as the ODE blowup. We prove the nonlinear asymptotic stability of this blowup mechanism outside of radial symmetry in all space dimensions and for all superlinear powers. This result covers for the first time the whole energy-supercritical range without symmetry restrictions.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the Cauchy problem for an energy-supercritical nonlinear wave equation in odd space dimensions that arises in equivariant Yang-Mills theory. In each dimension, there is a self-similar finite-time blowup solution to this equation known in closed form. It will be proved that this profile is stable in the whole space under small perturbations of the initial data. The blowup analysis is based on a recently developed coordinate system called hyperboloidal similarity coordinates and depends crucially on growth estimates for the free wave evolution, which will be constructed systematically for odd space dimensions in the first part of this paper. This allows to develop a nonlinear stability theory beyond the singularity.

Spectral theory and self-similar blowup in wave equations

Abstract:This is an expository article that describes the spectral-theoretic aspects in the study of the stability of self-similar blowup for nonlinear wave equations. The linearization near a self-similar solution leads to a genuinely nonself-adjoint operator which is difficult to analyze. The main goal of this article is to provide an accessible account to the only known method that is capable of providing sufficient spectral information to complete the stability analysis. The exposition is based on a mini course given at the Summer School on Geometric Dispersive PDEs in Obergurgl, Austria, in September 2022.

Abstract:We study the stability of an explicitly known, non-trivial self-similar blowup solution of the quadratic wave equation in the lowest energy supercritical dimension . This solution blows up at a single point and extends naturally away from the singularity. By using hyperboloidal similarity coordinates, we prove the conditional nonlinear asymptotic stability of this solution under small, compactly supported radial perturbations in a region of spacetime which can be made arbitrarily close to the Cauchy horizon of the singularity. To achieve this, we rigorously solve the underlying spectral problem and show that the solution has exactly one genuine instability. The unstable nature of the solution requires a careful construction of suitably adjusted initial data at , which, when propagated to a family of spacelike hypersurfaces of constant hyperboloidal time, takes the required form to guarantee convergence. By this, we introduce a new canonical method to investigate unstable self-similar solutions for nonlinear wave equations within the framework of hyperboloidal similarity coordinates.

Abstract:The blowup is studied for the nonlinear Schrodinger equation iu(t) + Delta u + vertical bar u vertical bar(p) 1(u) = 0 with p is odd and p >= 1 + 4/N-2 (the energy-critical or energy-supercritical case). It is shown that the solution with negative energy E (u(0)) < 0 blows up in finite or in finite time. A new proof is also presented for the previous result in [9], in which a similar result in a case of energy-subcritical was shown.

Abstract:We consider corotational wave maps from Minkowski spacetime into the sphere and the equivariant Yang-Mills equation for all energy-supercritical dimensions. Both models have explicit self-similar finite time blowup solutions, which continue to exist even past the singularity. We prove the nonlinear asymptotic stability of these solutions in spacetime regions that approach the future light cone of the singularity. For this, we develop a general functional analytic framework in adapted similarity coordinates that allows to evolve the stable wave flow near a self-similar blowup solution in such spacetime regions.

Abstract:Motivated by recent breakthrough on smooth imploding solutions of compressible Euler, we construct self-similar smooth imploding solutions of isentropic relativistic Euler equations with isothermal equation of state $p=\frac1\ell\varrho$ for \textit{all} $\ell>1$ in physical space dimension $d=2,3$ and for $\ell>1$ close to 1 in higher dimensions. This work is a crucial step toward solving the long-standing problem: finite time blow-up of the supercritical defocusing nonlinear wave equation.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the Cauchy problem of the Schriidinger-Hartree equation. Applying the profile decomposition of bounded sequence in (H)over dot(1)(R-N) boolean AND (H)over dot(Sc)(R-N) and corresponding variational structure, a refined Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality is established and the sharp constant for this inequality is deduced. Secondly, via construction and analysis of some invariant manifolds, we derive a different criterion of global existence and blowup results. Under the discussion of Bootstrap argument, we additionally obtain other sufficient condition for global existence. Finally, A compactness result is applied to show that the blowup solutions with bounded (H)over dot(Sc), norm definitely have concentration properties related to a fixed (H)over dot( Sc) norm of certain standing waves.
Finite-time blowup for Keller-Segel-Navier-Stokes system in three dimensions

Abstract:While finite-time blowup solutions have been studied in depth for the Keller-Segel equation, a fundamental model describing chemotaxis, the existence of finite-time blowup solutions to chemotaxis-fluid models remains largely unexplored. To fill this gap in the literature, we use a quantitative method to directly construct a smooth finite-time blowup solution for the Keller-Segel-Navier-Stokes system with buoyancy in 3D. The heart of the proof is to establish the non-radial finite-codimensional stability of an explicit self-similar blowup solution to 3D Keller-Segel equation with the abstract semigroup tool from [Merle-Raphaël-Rodnianski-Szeftel, 2022], which partially generalizes the radial stability result [Glogić-Schörkhuber, 2024] to the non-radial setting. Additionally, we introduce a robust localization argument to find blowup solutions with non-negative density and finite mass.

Blow-up dynamics for radial self-dual Chern-Simons-Schrödinger equation with prescribed asymptotic profile

Abstract:We construct finite energy blow-up solutions for the radial self-dual Chern-Simons-Schrödinger equation with a continuum of blow-up rates. Our result stands in stark contrast to the rigidity of blow-up of $H^{3}$ solutions proved by the first author for equivariant index $m \geq 1$, where the soliton-radiation interaction is too weak to admit the present blow-up scenarios. It is optimal (up to an endpoint) in terms of the range of blow-up rates and the regularity of the asymptotic profiles in view of the authors' previous proof of $H^{1}$ soliton resolution for the self-dual Chern-Simons-Schrödinger equation in any equivariance class. Our approach is a backward construction combined with modulation analysis, starting from prescribed asymptotic profiles and deriving the corresponding blow-up rates from their strong interaction with the soliton. In particular, our work may be seen as an adaptation of the method of Jendrej-Lawrie-Rodriguez (developed for energy critical equivariant wave maps) to the Schrödinger case.

Abstract:We consider the 1D cubic NLS on and prove a blow-up result for functions that are of borderline regularity, i.e. for any for the Sobolev scale and for the Fourier–Lebesgue scale. This is done by identifying at this regularity a certain functional framework from which solutions exit in finite time. This functional framework allows, after using a pseudo-conformal transformation, to reduce the problem to a large-time study of a periodic Schrödinger equation with non-autonomous cubic nonlinearity. The blow-up result corresponds to an asymptotic completeness result for the new equation. We prove it using Bourgain's method and exploiting the oscillatory nature of the coefficients involved in the time-evolution of the Fourier modes. Finally, as an application we exhibit singular solutions of the binormal flow. More precisely, we give conditions on the curvature and the torsion of an initial smooth curve such that the constructed solutions generate several singularities in finite time.
