Abstract:The aims of this study were to summarize the clinical presentation and histological results of 20 cases of complicated Meckel diverticulum (MD) who were presumed to have acute appendicitis before surgery, as well as to improve the diagnosis and treatment of complicated MD in children.

The research background indicates that Meckel's diverticulum is one of the most common congenital anomalies of the gastrointestinal tract. Although it is asymptomatic in most cases, when symptoms do occur, they often present as painless rectal bleeding, acute abdominal pain, small bowel obstruction, etc. Due to its diverse clinical manifestations, especially in children, preoperative diagnosis is relatively difficult.
