Abstract:Cobalt molybdate materials have recently attracted scientific interest because of their low cost and redox attributes. However, enhancing their limited electrochemical performance come from their low electrical conductivity has been a major focus of research over the past decade. To address this shortcoming, we have devised a simple hydrothermal method for producing a composite powder of cobalt molybdate and graphene oxide (CMG), with the goal of improving the supercapacitor performance of cobalt molybdate (CM). The findings demonstrate that the mean dimensions of cobalt molybdate nanorods in the CMG sample exhibit a reduction of 14% compared to the CM one, resulting in an average size of 1.21 μm. Also, the specific surface area was increased by 86% and pore size distribution was decreased by 24% in the CMG powder. The electrochemical data showed a strong association between cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge discharge outcomes. Specifically, the specific capacitance showed an increase from 120 F g −1 in CM to 226 F g −1 in CMG at a current density of 1 A g −1 , and from 139 F g −1 in CM to 235 F g −1 in CMG at a scan rate of 10 mV s −1 . By increasing the current density by 20 times, the capacitance retention of the CM electrode increased by 38% in the CMG containing electrode. As a consequence, the results demonstrate that the CMG electroactive material possesses capabilities that are quite promising in capacitive energy storage systems.
