Abstract:The year 2020 brought significant challenges to all of us in our professional and personal lives, as we have had to face the ravages and disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these challenges, Maternal-Fetal Medicine had a very productive year thanks to our authors, reviewers, leadership, and members of the journal's Editorial Board. Many papers were well received by our readers and cited in subsequent publications in top scientific journals, including The Lancet Infection Diseases, International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (a FIGO position paper), as well as high-impact journals in the field of maternal-fetal medicine. Maternal-Fetal Medicine has also been listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). We recognize that 2021 will bring with its own challenges. The Editors and editorial team at Maternal-Fetal Medicine are prepared for whatever 2021 has to offer. Abstract:This issue of International Journal of Speech-Language Pathology (IJSLP) heralds the first collection of papers for 2021. While challenges arose in 2020 due to the pandemic that infiltrated all aspects of life, impacting, for example, the distribution of IJSLP to your door, and unplanned delays as reviewers redirected their energies to the home front, IJSLP continued to thrive, attracting and publishing a high quality array of articles that covered a broad range of contemporary clinical and theoretical issues. The release of the 2019 Impact Factors built on previous growth, with a substantial increase in Impact Factor to 1.733, ranking 34/187 in the Linguistics category. The journal's 2019 CiteScore was 2.6, ranking 2/12 in the Research and Theory Scopus category. IJSLP has also moved from a Q2 journal to Q1, with a large increase in downloads. During 2020, article downloads increased by 25% compared to the previous year, already 30% higher than 2018, ensuring IJSLP is continuing to publish papers of high relevance and interest. Submissions have continued to rise each year, including international submissions.

Abstract:This special article is the third in an annual series of the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia that highlights significant literature from the world of graduate medical education published over the past year. Major themes addressed in this review include the potential uses and pitfalls of artificial intelligence in graduate medical education, trainee well-being and the rise of unionized house staff, the effect of gender and race/ethnicity on residency application and attrition rates, and the adoption of novel technologies in medical simulation and education. The authors thank the editorial board for again allowing us to draw attention to some of the more interesting work published in the field of graduate medical education during 2023. We hope that the readers find these highlights thought-provoking and informative as we all strive to successfully educate the next generation of anesthesiologists.
