Abstract:Despite growing interest in emerging Chinese multinational corporations (MNCs), most previous studies have focused on the strategic content and end results of their internationalization strategies. There has been little or no research on the process by which some Chinese companies are beginning to build integrated global strategies. The purpose of this contribution is to identify issues with regard to the benefits, difficulties, the learning process and the adaptation associated with companies arriving much later than their well-established competitors in the context of the global television manufacturing industry. This research adopts a qualitative approach to examine the way that the Chinese company, TCL, has attempted to build a global strategy behind such rivals as Samsung and Panasonic over a period of 10 years. The findings show that a catch-up company may struggle to obtain the benefits of an integrated global strategy and may face greater difficulties than the existing players, particularly in learning to adjust to the company's new strategic direction. However, latecomers experience shorter learning processes than their well-established rivals, facilitated by advances in technology and by a better understanding of the globalization process. The evidence suggests that the development of existing resources, the learning of new skills and innovation by such companies will be important in the game of catch-up.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is how Chinese companies can construct and implement an integrated global strategy in the international market, especially in the global TV manufacturing industry, in order to catch up with their long - established competitors. Specifically, the paper focuses on the process in which the Chinese company TCL has attempted to construct a global strategy in the global TV manufacturing industry over the past 10 years. By studying TCL's challenges, difficulties, learning process and adaptability in this process, the paper explores the possibilities and methods for latecomers (especially companies from developing countries) to catch up with existing competitors in the global market. The paper points out that although the internationalization strategies of Chinese multinational companies and their final results have received extensive attention, there are relatively few studies on how these companies gradually construct an integrated global strategy. Therefore, this paper fills this research gap. Through a specific case analysis of TCL, it reveals the specific problems that latecomers may encounter in the globalization process and the corresponding coping strategies, including: 1. **Benefits**: It explores whether latecomers can enjoy the same globalization benefits as established enterprises after entering the existing global market. 2. **Difficulties**: It analyzes the greater difficulties that latecomers may face in the process of constructing a global strategy. 3. **Learning process**: It studies whether latecomers can shorten their own learning process by learning from the experiences of established enterprises. 4. **Adaptation process**: It examines the differences in the adaptation process of latecomers when entering other emerging markets and developed - country markets. Through research in these aspects, the paper aims to provide important insights into how latecomers in China and other developing countries can achieve success in the globalization process.
