Abstract:With the maturation of satellite technology, Hyperspectral Remote Sensing (HRS) platforms have developed from the initial ground-based and airborne platforms into spaceborne platforms, which greatly promotes the civil application of HRS imagery in the fields of agriculture, forestry, and environmental monitoring. China is playing an important role in this evolution, especially in recent years, with the successful launch and operation of a series of civil hyperspectral spacecraft and satellites, including the Shenzhou-3 spacecraft, the Gaofen-5 satellite, the SPARK satellite, the Zhuhai-1 satellite network for environmental and resources monitoring, the FengYun series of satellites for meteorological observation, and the Chang'E series of spacecraft for planetary exploration. The Chinese spaceborne HRS platforms have various new characteristics, such as the wide swath width, high spatial resolution, wide spectral range, hyperspectral satellite networks, and microsatellites. This paper focuses on the recent progress in Chinese spaceborne HRS, from the aspects of the typical satellite systems, the data processing, and the applications. In addition, the future development trends of HRS in China are also discussed and analyzed.

Abstract:The Space Advanced Technology demonstration satellite (SATech-01), a mission for low-cost space science and new technology experiments, organized by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), was successfully launched into a Sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of similar to 500 km on July 27, 2022, from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre. Serving as an experimental platform for space science exploration and the demonstration of advanced common technologies in orbit, SATech-01 is equipped with 16 experimental payloads, including the solar upper transition region imager (SUTRI), the lobster eye imager for astronomy (LEIA), the high energy burst searcher (HEBS), and a High Precision Magnetic Field Measurement System based on a CPT Magnetometer (CPT). It also incorporates an imager with freeform optics, an integrated thermal imaging sensor, and a multi-functional integrated imager, etc. This paper provides an overview of SATech-01, including a technical description of the satellite and its scientific payloads, along with their on-orbit performance.

Abstract:Monterey Accelerated Research System（MARS） is a main test bed for the deep-sea observatory instruments in the world.On April 14 th,2011,a China node,which consists of a junction box,a chemical environment system and a dynamical environment system,was installed on MARS successfully by R/V Western Flyer,R/V Point Lobos and ROV Ventana for long-term test at the seafloor of Monterey Bay.China became the third country who tested her deep-sea observatory instruments on MARS on a large scale.Up to date,China node works well on MARS.The instruments of China node are sending data back from the seafloor of Monterey Bay.China node test on MARS shows that Chinese observatory technologies have had great progresses in the recent four years,which can be applied to the construction of the deep-sea observatory in China.Real-time data from China node will benefit marine research and show great advantages of deep-sea observatory.

Abstract:From 1959 to 1976,the former Soviet Union and the United States had launched a series of lunar probe,which used the earliest deep space exploration technology and detection methods and acquired the valuable achievements and the rich experience,which set off the first lunar exploration upsurge in the world;From 1976 to 1994,more attention had taken into the space station and Mars in the international deep-space exploration,and none fully successful lunar exploration activities had been conducted,a relative tranquil period of lunar exploration occurred;In the end of the 20th century,America's Clementine and Moon Explorer successfully acquired the new discoveries about moon,and the main space countries had announced deep space exploration programs about the moon one after another,at the same time they launched lunar probes,which pushed lunar exploration to a new climax.Based on the new technology of Chang'e 1 and the other country's lunar exploration plans,the paper gives lunar exploration implementary program of China in order to occupy the key position in the future international lunar exploration activities.

Abstract:Chang’E-1, the first lunar mission in China, was successfully launched on October 24,2007, which opened the prelude of China’s Lunar Exploration Program. Later on, the Chang’E-2 and Chang’E-3 satellites were successfully launched in 2010 and 2013, respectively. In order to achieve the science objectives, various payloads boarded the spacecraft. The scientific data from these instruments were received by Beijing and Kunming ground stations simultaneously. Up to now, about 5.628 Terabytes of raw data were received totally. A series of research results has been achieved. This paper presents a brief introduction to the main scientific results and latest progress from Chang’E-3 mission.

Abstract:Space life science is a discipline dedicated to investigating the origin,evolution,and distri-bution of life under space environmental conditions,along with the phenomena and principles governing life.This field delves into the mechanisms of life's origin and early evolution from both theoretical and experimental perspectives,while also exploring fundamental scientific inquiries such as the habitability and forms of extraterrestrial life.With the implementation of major scientific projects such as the Chi-nese space station,the Chang'E lunar exploration program,and the Tianwen series,research on space life in China has witnessed rapid development.This paper provides an overview of the domestic and in-ternational trends in space life,identifies key areas for future development of space life science in China,optimizes disciplinary layouts,and aims to promote high-quality advancement in space life research.

Abstract:Lunar exploration is deemed crucial for uncovering the origins of the Earth-Moon system and is the first step for advancing humanity's exploration of deep space. Over the past decade, the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program (CLEP), also known as the Chang'e (CE) Project, has achieved remarkable milestones. It has successfully developed and demonstrated the engineering capability required to reach and return from the lunar surface. Notably, the CE Project has made historic firsts with the landing and on-site exploration of the far side of the Moon, along with the collection of the youngest volcanic samples from the Procellarum KREEP Terrane. These achievements have significantly enhanced our understanding of lunar evolution. Building on this success, China has proposed an ambitious crewed lunar exploration strategy, aiming to return to the Moon for scientific exploration and utilization. This plan encompasses two primary phases: the first crewed lunar landing and exploration, followed by a thousand-kilometer scale scientific expedition to construct a geological cross-section across the lunar surface. Recognizing the limitations of current lunar exploration efforts and China's engineering and technical capabilities, this paper explores the benefits of crewed lunar exploration while leveraging synergies with robotic exploration. The study refines fundamental lunar scientific questions that could lead to significant breakthroughs, considering the respective engineering and technological requirements. This research lays a crucial foundation for defining the objectives of future lunar exploration, emphasizing the importance of crewed missions and offering insights into potential advancements in lunar science.

Abstract:The safe return to earth of the Shenzhou-13 crew not only marks a perfect ending to a successful mission, but also reignited the public's interest in the exploration of space. This month's Light People features a true "Space Explorer". In the past two decades, she has devoted to space robotics research and is recognized for advancing AI capabilities for future space missions. In addition, she has been actively promoting STEM through public outreach and setting role models to encourage women in STEM education and careers. She is Professor Yang Gao, winner of the Mulan Award 2019 in science and technology, a dedicated award to celebrate the achievements and success of Chinese women in the United Kingdom and wider. Prof. Gao is the Professor of Space Autonomous Systems at the University of Surrey's Space Centre, and founding head of the STAR LAB which specializes in robotic sensing, perception, visual GNC, and biomimetic mechanisms for industrial applications in extreme environments. Abstract:SJ-10 program provides a mission of space microgravity experiments including both fields of microgravity science and space life science aboard the 24th recoverable satellite of China. Scientific purpose of the program is to promote the scientific research in the space microgravity environment by operating the satellite at lower earth orbit for 2 weeks. There are totally 27 experiments, including 17 ones in the field of microgravity science (microgravity fluid physics 6, microgravity combustion 3, and space materials science 8) and 10 in the field of space life science (radiation biology 3, gravitational biology 3, and space biotechnology 4). These experiments were selected from more than 200 applications. The satellite will be launched in the end of 2015 or a bit later. It is expected that many fruitful scientific results on microgravity science and space life science will be contributed by this program.
Flight Control Overview of STS-88, the First Space Station Assembly Flight

Abstract:When the Space Shuttle Endeavour undocked from the Zarya/Unity configuration on STS-88 it marked the completion of the most challenging shuttle mission to date and the beginning of an enormous task of assembling the International Space Station. The flight offered an array of complex dynamics and control related challenges to mate the American module 'Unity' to the Russian module 'Zarya'. Capability demonstrated on the flight included closed-loop thruster control in the presence of low frequency structural dynamics and mated-vehicle translational maneuvers in the presence of structural loads and thruster hardware constraints. The flight was a complete success from all aspects. This paper will give an overview of the flight control challenges encountered and the actual control performance observed for the on-orbit operations. Included will be the shuttle analysis and filtering strategies to ensure control system stability in the presence of low frequency flex-body dynamics.

At present the SST project undergoes evaluation by CNSA and CAS so as to enter the engineering prototype phase of the SST project if it is finally approved.

Abstract:This paper provides a detailed description of the development and experimental results of the supercritical flow experiment payload carried on the TZ-6 cargo spacecraft, as well as a systematic verification of the out-of-cabin deployment experiment. The technical and engineering indicators of the payload deployment experiment are analyzed, and the functional modules of the payload are shown. The paper provides a detailed description of the design, installation location, size, weight, temperature, illumination, pressure, radiation, control, command reception, telemetry data, downlink data, and experimental procedures for the out-of-cabin payload in the extreme conditions of space. The paper presents the annular liquid surface state and temperature oscillation signals obtained from the space experiment and conducts ground matching experiments to verify the results, providing scientific references for the design and condition setting of space experiments and comparisons for the experimental results to obtain the flow field structure under supercritical conditions. The paper provides a specific summary and discussion of the space fluid science experiment project, providing useful references for future long-term in-orbit scientific research using cargo spacecraft.

Abstract:The Dragon Program is a cooperation in Earth Observation (EO) between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of China. The collaboration aims to promote the application of ESA, ESA Third Party Mission, Copernicus Sentinel and China EO data in scientific and application development, facilitates scientific exchanges between China and Europe scientists, and provides training for land, ocean, and atmospheric applications of remote sensing technology. Started in 2004, four phases, each lasting four years, have been successfully completed. The Dragon Program has provided a unique platform for the joint exploitation of EO data for science and application development. Furthermore, it has made remarkable achievements by bringing together top scientists, training young talents, and facilitated satellite data sharing between the Sino-European teams.

Abstract:The Earth 2.0 (ET) space mission has entered its phase B study in China. It seeks to understand how frequently habitable Earth-like planets orbit solar-type stars (Earth 2.0s), the formation and evolution of terrestrial-like planets, and the origin of free-floating planets. The final design of ET includes six 28 cm diameter transit telescope systems, each with a field of view of 550 square degrees, and one 35 cm diameter microlensing telescope with a field of view of 4 square degrees. In transit mode, ET will continuously monitor over 2 million FGKM dwarfs in the original Kepler field and its neighboring fields for four years. Simultaneously, in microlensing mode, it will observe over 30 million I < 20.5 stars in the Galactic bulge direction. Simulations indicate that ET mission could identify approximately 40,000 new planets, including about 4,000 terrestrial-like planets across a wide range of orbital periods and in the interstellar space, ~1000 microlensing planets, ~10 Earth 2.0s and around 25 free-floating Earth mass planets. Coordinated observations with ground-based KMTNet telescopes will enable the measurement of masses for ~300 microlensing planets, helping determine the mass distribution functions of free-floating planets and cold planets. ET will operate from the Earth-Sun L2 halo orbit with a designed lifetime exceeding 4 years. The phase B study involves detailed design and engineering development of the transit and microlensing telescopes. Updates on this mission study are reported.

Abstract:This paper describes the companion satellite used for dynamically observing space target (SZ-7 spaceship), analyses and designs relevant technologies and parameters. A bifocal lens system is designed for observation in variant distance. Initial attitude stability is assured by bias momentum, with FOV enlarged by nutation. Space target-tracking is realized by guidance law. Camera parameters are designed for clear observation. The designed companion satellite has been successfully flight in Shenzhou-7 manned space mission, and for the first time obtained full image of the in-orbit spaceship. The flight datum verifies the design and parameters of the companion satellite for clear observation of space target.
