The ancient Chinese poem "Lisao" translated by V.F. Pereleshin: the problem of the poet's cultural identity

Abstract:древнекитайская поэма «Лисао» в переводе представителя русского дальневосточного зарубежья В.Ф. Перелешина (В.Ф. Салатко-Петрище, 1913-1992) почти не изучена. В нём глубокое выражение нашла личность русского эмигранта. В данной статье мы рассмотрим перевод «Лисао» Перелешиным с точки зрения культурной идентичности и субъективности переводчика-эмигранта. Это важен не только для выявления особенностей рецепции восточной культуры русским эмигрантом, но и для понимания художественного своеобразия древнекитайской поэмы Цюй Юаня. С использованием культурно-исторического, сравнительно-типологического методов и транснациональной теории анализируем способы передачи мифологических реалий и особенности трактовки важных образов древнекитайской культуры Перелешиным, таких как «красавица» в сравнении с переводом А. Ахматовой. Отмечается, что Перелешин берет на себя миссию распространения китайской литературы как «своей» и использует стратегию отчуждения с помощью приема транскрипции и примечаний. Обосновывается идея о том, что трансформация переводческой стратегии поэта обусловлена изменением его идентичности. В переводе «Лисао» Перелешин больше акцентирует трагедию «вечного скитальца», отражающую самосознание русского эмигранта в окружении «чужой» культуры. Утверждается, что поэма «Лисао» в переводе поэта в большей степени отражает гибридность, сочетающую в себе русскость и китаизм. В этом произведении слышны отголоски не только «чужого», но и собственного «я» эмигранта, хорошо знавшего китайскую культурную традицию, а также человека-маргинала, пришедшего к новому пониманию своего места в мире. the ancient Chinese poem "Li Sao" in the translation by V.F. Pereleshin (V.F. Salatko-Petrische, 1913-1992), a representative of the Russian Far Eastern diaspora, has been scarcely studied. It serves as a profound expression of the identity of a Russian emigrant. In this article, we examine Pereleshin's translation of "Li Sao" from the perspective of cultural identity and the subjectivity of the emigrant translator. This is essential not only for identifying the peculiarities of the reception of Eastern culture by a Russian emigrant, but also for understanding the artistic uniqueness of the ancient Chinese poem by Qu Yuan. Using cultural-historical, comparative-typological methods, and transnational theory, we analyze the ways in which Pereleshin conveys mythological realities and interprets key figures of ancient Chinese culture, such as the "beauty" in comparison with A. Akhmatova's translation. It is noted that Pereleshin takes on the mission of promoting Chinese literature as "his own" and employs a strategy of alienation through transcription and annotations. The idea is substantiated that the transformation of the poet's translation strategy is linked to changes in his identity. Pereleshin places more emphasis on the tragedy of the "eternal wanderer", reflecting the self-awareness of the Russian emigrant in the midst of a "foreign" culture. It is argued that Pereleshin's translation of the poem "Li Sao" predominantly reflects hybridity, combining Russian elements and Chineseness. In this work we can hear the echoes not only of the "foreign", but also of the emigrant's own "self", which demonstrates a deep understanding of Chinese cultural tradition by a marginal person, who has come to a new understanding of their place in the world.
