The Meeting of Environmental Struggle with Art In The Context of Women, Nature, Art: Ecofeminist Art

Abstract:60’lı yıllar birçok alanda hak arayışlarının en çarpıcı biçimiyle yaşandığı yıllardır. Yaşamla doğrudan bağlantılı olan sanat ortamı da bu bağlamda değişikliğe uğramış; alışılagelmiş sanat pratikleri yoğun bir şekilde tartışılırken bu hak arayışları sanat pratiklerine de yansımıştır. Geleneksel sanat tarihi anlatısında, modernizmin kahramansı yaratıları olan deha, ustalık, yetenek gibi kavramlar, erkeklere mal edilerek kadın sanatçılar dışlanmıştır. Feminist hareketten yola çıkan ve ataerkil toplum zihniyetine karşılık; çevreci mücadeleyi sanatla birleştiren ekofeminist anlayış da böyle bir ortamda ortaya çıkmıştır. Doğanın dişil çağrışımından da yola çıkarak sanatçılar, tahrip edilen doğaya dikkat çekmiş, kadınlar üzerindeki eril hakimiyet ile doğanın sömürülmesi arasında bir bağ olduğu düşüncesi üzerinde durmuşlardır. Ekofeminizm bu süreçte; odağına doğayı, çevre bilincini, hem kadın hem de doğa üzerinde kurulan tahakküme dair eleştiriyi koyan ve genellikle ortaklaşa çalışma, onarım, yenileme gibi kavramları içeren bir akım olarak karşımıza çıkmıştır. Literatür değerlendirmesine dayalı olan bu çalışmada bu alandaki yazın taranmış, insanın doğayla olan ilişkisine yeni bir bakış açısı sunan, sanat ve feminist hareketin kesiştiği noktada ortaya çıkan ekofeminist sanat anlayışının kavramsal boyutu ve tarihsel olarak gelişim süreçleri incelenmiştir. Sanatçılar üzerinden yapılan çözümlemeler neticesinde, sanatın çevresel farkındalık yaratmak amacıyla bir aracı olarak konumlandırılması, çalışmanın önemini vurgulamaktadır.The 60s were the years when the pursuit of rights in many fields was experienced in the most striking form. The art environment, which is directly related to life, has also changed in this context; While conventional art practices were discussed intensively, these pursuits of rights were also reflected in art practices. In the traditional art history narrative, concepts such as genius, mastery and talent, which are the heroic creations of modernism, are attributed to men and women artists are excluded. In response to the patriarchal society mentality that started from the feminist movement; The ecofeminist approach, which combines environmental struggle with art, emerged in such an environment. Starting from the feminine connotation of nature, the artists drew attention to the destroyed nature and emphasized the idea that there is a connection between the masculine domination over women and the exploitation of nature. Ecofeminism in this process; It has emerged as a movement that focuses on nature, environmental awareness, criticism of the domination established on both women and nature, and generally includes concepts such as joint work, repair and renewal. In this study, which is based on the literature review, the literature in this field was scanned, the conceptual dimension and historical development processes of the ecofeminist understanding of art, which emerged at the intersection of art and feminist movement, which offers a new perspective on the relationship of man with nature, were examined. As a result of the analyzes made on the artists, the positioning of art as a tool to create environmental awareness emphasizes the importance of the work.
