Abstract:The dominant theoretical uncertainties in both the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon and the value of the electromagnetic coupling at the Z scale, M(Z), arise from their hadronic contributions. Since these will ultimately dominate the experimental errors, we study the correlation between them, as well as with other fundamental parameters. To this end we present analytical formulas for the QCD contribution from higher energies and from heavy quarks. Including these correlations affects the Higgs boson mass extracted from precision data.

Abstract:We present the results for the complete next-to-leading order electroweak corrections to pp→HH at the Large Hadron Collider, focusing on the dominant gluon-gluon fusion process. While the corrections at the total cross-section level are approximately −4% , those near the energy of HH production threshold exceed +15% , and corrections at the high-energy region are around −10% , leading to a shape distortion for the differential distributions. Our findings substantially diminish the theoretical uncertainties associated with this pivotal process, providing valuable input for understanding the shape of the Higgs boson potential upon comparison with experimental measurements. https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevLett.132.231802 Published by the American Physical Society under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. Abstract:Deuterons are atomic nuclei composed of a neutron and a proton held together by the strong interaction. Unbound ensembles composed of a deuteron and a third nucleon have been investigated in the past using scattering experiments, and they constitute a fundamental reference in nuclear physics to constrain nuclear interactions and the properties of nuclei. In this work, K+−d and p−d femtoscopic correlations measured by the ALICE Collaboration in proton-proton ( pp ) collisions at s=13 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are presented. It is demonstrated that correlations in momentum space between deuterons and kaons or protons allow us to study three-hadron systems at distances comparable with the proton radius. The analysis of the K+−d correlation shows that the relative distances at which deuterons and protons or kaons are produced are around 2 fm. The analysis of the p−d correlation shows that only a full three-body calculation that accounts for the internal structure of the deuteron can explain the data. In particular, the sensitivity of the observable to the short-range part of the interaction is demonstrated. Abstract:Abstract We rectify a typographical error in equation (3.14) from the original version of this article, pertaining to the effective Higgs-Majoron coupling, λ(0) JJh 1 , expressed in the mass eigenbasis. Notably, the same error persisted in the computational routines used in our work. This oversight resulted in a discrepancy in the numerical calculation of the invisible Higgs decay branching fraction, Br(h 1 → JJ), affecting a subset of the sampled points. While the main conclusions remain unaltered, we provide an updated version of our results.

Abstract:Analytical formulas describing the correction due to the $Z$ boson exchange to the cross section of the reaction $pp\rightarrow p\mu^+\mu^- X$ are presented. When the invariant mass of the produced muon pair $W\gtrsim 150~\text{GeV}$ and its total transverse momentum is large, the correction is of the order of 20%.

Abstract:We discuss the nonfactorizable corrections to Higgs boson production in weak boson fusion at the Large Hadron Collider. Such corrections depend on the finite part of the two-loop virtual amplitude qQ→q′Q′+H which, up to now, has only been computed in the eikonal approximation. We combine this contribution with real-virtual and double-real nonfactorizable QCD corrections and study their impact on the various observables in weak boson fusion. We find that the nonfactorizable corrections are strongly dominated by the two-loop virtual contributions, while all other contributions play a very minor role. This striking imbalance between real and virtual contributions is caused by a process-specific kinematic suppression of the former and a particular enhancement of the virtual corrections related to a Glauber phase. https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevD.109.014031 Published by the American Physical Society under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. Abstract:The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has provided, and will continue to provide, data for collisions at the highest energies ever seen in a particle accelerator. A strong knowledge of the properties of amplitudes for Quantum Chromodynamics in the High Energy Limit is therefore important to interpret this data. We study this limit in the context of the High Energy Jets (HEJ) formalism. This formalism resums terms in the perturbative expansion of the cross-section that behave like $\alpha_s^n \log \left(\frac{s}{-t}\right)^{n-1}$, which are enhanced in this limit. Understanding this region is particularly important in certain key analyses at the LHC: for example, Higgs-boson-plus-dijet analyses where cuts are applied to pick out events with a large $m_{jj}$ and in many searches for new physics.

Abstract:Multiparton interactions are a fascinating phenomenon that occur in almost every high-energy hadron-hadron collision yet are remarkably difficult to study quantitatively. In this Letter, we present a strategy to optimally disentangle multiparton interactions from the primary scattering in a collision. That strategy enables probes of multiparton interactions that are significantly beyond the state of the art, including their characteristic momentum scale, the interconnection between primary and secondary scatters, and the pattern of three and potentially even more simultaneous hard scatterings. Abstract:In this paper, the soft gluon resummation effect in double heavy quarkonium production at the LHC is studied. By applying the transverse momentum dependent factorization formalism, the large logarithms introduced by the small total transverse momentum of heavy quarkonium pair final state system, are resummed to all orders in the expansion of the strong interaction coupling at the Next-to-Leading Logarithm accuracy. We also compare our result with the LHC data. We find that the distribution shape predicted by resummation calculation is consistent with experimental data very well. Since this process is mainly initiated by gluon fusion, it supplies us an important channel to study the gluon parton property in hadrons.
