Abstract:The prognosis for cancer prevention and control is dire as it has emerged as one of the primary illnesses that poses a serious threat to human health. In 2022, the global number of new cancer cases will be 19.29 million, while the number of new cancer cases in China will be 4.57 million, accounting for 23.7 percent of the total number of new cancer cases worldwide. The differentiation in refractive indices between normal and cancerous cells enables the assessment of loss curve fluctuations to identify the extent of cancer. Consequently, this article presents a photonic crystal fiber optic sensor with exceptional sensitivity as a means of detecting cancer cells. Using the finite element method, one can parametrically analyze the thickness of the gold nanofilm in the sensor, the diameter of the U-channel, and the three comparatively small air openings in the fiber core. In the refractive index detection range of 1.33–1.43, the simulation results indicate that the sensor has a maximum wavelength sensitivity of 26,900 nm/RIU, an optimal resolution of 3.72 × 10 −6 RIU, and a maximum quality factor of 126.96 RIU −1 . The sensor has a high sensitivity, a wide range of refractive index detection, a simple structure, and easy pulling, which is potentially useful for bioanalysis, and medical diagnosis It has potential applications in bioanalysis, medical diagnosis, and clinical trials.
