The Research Trend and Enlightenment of Value Education in the Foreign Language Courses of Colleges and Universities: A Research Based on Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract:With the method of bibliometric and qualitative analysis, this study reviews the literature on current value education in foreign language courses in colleges and universities from the perspectives of the general trends, journals, authors, fund projects, papers, and topics. It is found that with the deepening of value education nationwide, great attention has been paid to the research on “curriculum-based value education” and the number of research papers has shown a breakthrough growth in a short period. The research has obtained support from high-level and multi-type fund projects and focuses on the topics of college English, teaching reform, implementation path, and teaching contents. However, there are still some problems to be settled in this research field, including few high-quality research papers, lack of cooperative academic communities, too much emphasis on theoretical and macroscopic research, similar research without new insights, shortage of systematic research. Therefore, we need to follow the new direction and explore efficient ways to conduct further research and promote the construction of curriculum-based value education.
