Inverse Problems in Engineering
Abstract:The paper deals with identification of the damping and stiffness parameters of the composite joints of finite element systems, e.g. internal combustion engines. For modeling of viscoelastic properties of composite gaskets the classical Voigt-Kelvin and generalized Maxwell model (three-parameter solid) are used. A time domain identification algorithm for non-classically damped dynamic systems is developed. It is based on the extended Kalman filter and the least square technique and employs complex model analysis and sparse matrix technology for global matrices of finite element models. Experimental verification of the identification results is carried out by comparing theoretical and experimental acceleration transfer functions. The identification results show that the generalized Maxwell model is more accurate for modeling of damping in the composite joints of this type than the Voigt-Kelvin model. The specific features of the least square and Kalman filter identification algorithms are discussed.
