Abstract:We extend the estimates for maximal Fourier restriction operators proved by Müller, Ricci, and Wright in \cite{MR3960255} and Ramos in \cite{MR4055940} to the case of arbitrary convex curves in the plane, with constants uniform in the curve. The improvement over Müller, Ricci, and Wright and Ramos is given by the removal of the $\mathcal{C}^2$ regularity condition on the curve. This requires the choice of an appropriate measure for each curve, that is suggested by an affine invariant construction of Oberlin in \cite{MR1960918}. As corollaries, we obtain a uniform Fourier restriction theorem for arbitrary convex curves, and a result on the Lebesgue points of the Fourier transform on the curve.

Abstract:We prove sharp endpoint results for the Fourier restriction operator associated to nondegenerate curves in $\Bbb R^d$, $d\ge 3$, and related estimates for oscillatory integral operators. Moreover, for some larger classes of curves in $\Bbb R^d$ we obtain sharp uniform $L^p\to L^q$ bounds with respect to affine arclength measure, thereby resolving a problem of Drury and Marshall.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to prove a uniform Fourier restriction estimate for certain $2-$dimensional surfaces in $\mathbb R^{2n}$. These surfaces are the image of complex polynomial curves $\gamma(z) = (p_1(z), \dots, p_n(z))$, equipped with the complex equivalent to the affine arclength measure. This result is a complex-polynomial counterpart to a previous result by Stovall [Sto16] in the real setting. As a means to prove this theorem we provide an alternative proof of a geometric inequality by Dendrinos and Wright [DW10] that extends the result to complex polynomials.

Abstract:In this article, we prove that nearly all valid, scale-invariant Fourier restriction inequalities for the paraboloid in R1+d have extremizers and that Lp-normalized extremizing sequences are precompact modulo symmetries. This result had previously been established for the case q=2. In the range where the boundedness of the restriction operator is still an open question, our result is conditional on improvements toward the restriction conjecture.

Abstract:We extend the estimates for maximal Fourier restriction operators proved by Müller et al. (Rev Mat Iberoam 35:693–702, 2019) and Ramos (Proc Am Math Soc 148:1131–1138, 2020) to the case of arbitrary convex curves in the plane, with constants uniform in the curve. The improvement over Müller, Ricci, and Wright and Ramos is given by the removal of the C2$${\mathcal {C}}^2$$ regularity condition on the curve. This requires the choice of an appropriate measure for each curve, that is suggested by an affine invariant construction of Oberlin (Michigan Math J 51:13–26, 2003). As corollaries, we obtain a uniform Fourier restriction theorem for arbitrary convex curves and a result on the Lebesgue points of the Fourier transform on the curve.

Abstract:This result sharpens the bilinear to linear deduction of Lee and Vargas for extension estimates on the hyperbolic paraboloid in $\mathbb R^3$ to the sharp line, leading to the first scale-invariant restriction estimates, beyond the Stein--Tomas range, for a hypersurface on which the principal curvatures have different signs.

Abstract:Conditional on Fourier restriction estimates for elliptic hypersurfaces, we prove optimal restriction estimates for polynomial hypersurfaces of revolution for which the defining polynomial has non-negative coefficients. In particular, we obtain uniform--depending only on the dimension and polynomial degree--estimates for restriction with affine surface measure, slightly beyond the bilinear range. The main step in the proof of our linear result is an (unconditional) bilinear adjoint restriction estimate for pieces at different scales.

Abstract:We establish near-optimal mixed norm estimates for the X-ray transform restricted to polynomial curves with a weight that is a power of the affine arclength. The bounds that we establish depend only on the spatial dimension and the degree of the polynomial. Some of our results are new even in the well-curved case.

Abstract:We establish lower bounds for the operator norms of the Fourier restriction/extension operators associated to monomial curves with affine arclength measure. Furthermore, we prove that the set of all extremizing sequences of such an operator is precompact modulo the operator's symmetry group if and only if the operator norm is strictly larger than this threshold. For the proof, we introduce a number of new ingredients, some of which may be applicable to analogous questions on more general manifolds.

Abstract:We prove sharp $L^2$ Fourier restriction inequalities for compact, smooth surfaces in $\mathbb{R}^3$ equipped with the affine surface measure or a power thereof. The results are valid for all smooth surfaces and the bounds are uniform for all surfaces defined by the graph of polynomials of degrees up to $d$ with bounded coefficients. The primary tool is a decoupling theorem for these surfaces.

We investigate the asymptotic behavior of the operator norms ${{\bf R}_{\mathbb S^{d-1}}}(p\to q)$ and ${\bf R}_{\mathbb S^{d-1}} (p\to q;\textrm{rad})$ as the dimension $d$ tends to infinity. We further establish a dimension-free endpoint Stein-Tomas inequality for radial functions, together with the corresponding estimate for general functions which we prove with an $O(d^{1/2})$ dependence. Our methods rely on a uniform two-sided refinement of Stempak's asymptotic $L^p$ estimate of Bessel functions.

Abstract:We establish endpoint Lebesgue space bounds for convolution and restricted X-ray transforms along curves satisfying fairly minimal differentiability hypotheses, with affine and Euclidean arclengths. We also explore the behavior of certain natural interpolants and extrapolants of the affine and Euclidean versions of these operators.

Abstract:For a locally compact group $G$ and $1 < p < \infty,$ let $B_p(G)$ denote the $p$-analog of the Fourier-Stieltjes algebra $B(G) \, (\text{or} \, B_2(G))$. Let $r: B_p(G) \to B_p(H)$ be the restriction map given by $r(u) = u|_H$ for any closed subgroup $H$ of $G.$ In this article, we prove that the restriction map $r$ is a surjective isometry for any open subgroup $H$ of $G.$ Further, we show that the range of the map $r$ is dense in $B_p(H)$ when $H$ is either a compact normal subgroup of $G$ or compact subgroup of an [SIN]$_H$-group.

Abstract:This article explores weighted $(L^p, L^q)$ inequalities for the Fourier transform in rank one Riemannian symmetric spaces of noncompact type. We establish both necessary and sufficient conditions for these inequalities to hold. To prove the weighted Fourier inequalities, we apply restriction theorems on symmetric spaces and utilize Calder{ó}n's estimate for sublinear operators. While establishing the necessary conditions, we demonstrate that Harish-Chandra's elementary spherical functions play a crucial role in this setting. Furthermore, we apply our findings to derive Fourier inequalities with polynomial and exponential weights.

A bilinear approach to the finite field restriction problem

Abstract:Let $P$ denote the $3$-dimensional paraboloid over a finite field of odd characteristic in which $-1$ is not a square. We show that the associated Fourier extension operator maps $L^2$ to $L^{r}$ for $r > \frac{24}{7} \approx 3.428$. Previously this was known (in the case of prime order fields) for $r > \frac{188}{53} \approx 3.547$. In contrast with much of the recent progress on this problem, our argument does not use state-of-the-art incidence estimates but rather proceeds by obtaining estimates on a related bilinear operator. These estimates are based on a geometric result that, roughly speaking, states that a set of points in the finite plane $F^2$ can be decomposed as a union of sets each of which either contains a controlled number of rectangles or a controlled number of trapezoids.

Abstract:In this paper, we showed that for suitable $(\beta,p, s,\ell)$ the $\beta$-order fractional derivative with respect to the last coordinate of the Fourier transform of an $L^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$ function is in $H^{-s}$ after restricting to a graph of a function with non-vanishing Gaussian curvature provided that the restriction of the Fourier transform of such function to the surface is in $H^{\ell}$.
