Abstract:In this work, a vertical contact triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) was designed using polyaniline (PANI) electrodeposited onto copper electrodes via cyclic voltammetry at different scan cycles (5, 50, and 150). XPS, XRD, IR, and UV–Vis analyses confirmed the formation of a PANI composite, primarily in the emeraldine base state, which undergoes doping due to the presence of Cu 2 + ions and oxalates, influencing the TENG system's performance. The specific capacitance and charge density values suggest that the composite acts as an electronegative dielectric material. Additionally, the composite thickness increases with the number of scan cycles, affecting the contact area and subsequently impacting the TENG's electrical output. The best performance was observed with 5 scan cycles, producing a voltage of 0.664 V, a current density of 0.235 μA·cm −2 , and a power density output of 0.156 μW·cm −2 , 56% higher than the power output with 150 cycles. It is also relevant to note that cyclic voltammetry was used to prepare PANI composite dielectric materials, with a focus on their application in TENG systems.
