Abstract:A fundamental task in any physical theory is to quantify a certain physical quantity in a meaningful way. In this paper, we show that both fidelity distance and affinity distance satisfy the strong contractibility, and the corresponding resource quantifiers can be used to characterize a large class of resource theories. Under two assumptions, namely, convexity of "free states" and closure of free states under "selective free operations," our general framework of resource theory includes quantum resource theories of entanglement, coherence, partial coherence, and superposition. In partial coherence theory, we show that fidelity of partial coherence of a bipartite state is equal to the minimal error probability of a mixed quantum state discrimination task and vice versa, which complements the main result in Xiong and Wu [J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 51, 414005 (2018)]. We also compute the analytic expression of fidelity of partial coherence for (2, n) bipartite X states. At last, we study the correlated coherence in the framework of partial coherence theory. We show that partial coherence of a bipartite state, with respect to the eigenbasis of a subsystem, is actually a measure of discord-type quantum correlation.

Abstract:We consider the situation in which some class of structures has the Strong Amalgamation Property (SAP) with the further requirement that the amalgamating structure can be taken over the set theoretical union of (the images of) the domains of the structures to be amalgamated. We call this property SAPU. The main advantage of SAPU over SAP is that there are many preservation theorems showing that we can merge different theories with SAPU still obtaining a theory with SAPU, hence with SAP. In particular, we get SAPU for various theories with many binary relations, each relation satisfying any set of properties chosen among transitivity, reflexivity, symmetry, antireflexivity, antisymmetry. We may also add unary operations, possibly satisfying some coarseness, isotonicity and closure conditions. SAPU is not limited to relational theories: the varieties defining the most usual Maltsev conditions in universal algebra have SAPU. Other examples include bounded directoids, order algebras and various generalization.
The Amalgamation Property for automorphisms of ordered abelian groups

Abstract:We prove that the category of ordered abelian groups equipped with an automorphism has the Amalgamation Property, deduce that their inductive theory is NIP in the sense of positive logic, and initiate a development of the latter framework. As byproducts of the proof, we obtain a generalised version of the Hahn Embedding Theorem which allows to lift each automorphism of an ordered abelian group to one of an ordered real vector space, and we show that, on existentially closed structures, linear combinations of iterates of the automorphism have the Intermediate Value Property.

Amalgamation Property in the subvarieties of Gautama and Almost Gautama algebras

Abstract:Gautama algebras were introduced recently, as a common generalization of regular double Stone algebras and regular Kleene Stone algebras. Even more recently, Gautama algebras were further generalized to Almost Gautama algebras (AG for short). The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the Amalgamation Property (AP, for short) in the subvarieties of the variety AG. In fact, we show that, of the eight nontrivial subvarieties of AG, only four varieties, namely those of Boolean algebras, of regular double Stone algebras, of regular Kleene Stone algebras and of De Morgan Boolean algebras have the AP and the remaining four do not have the AP. We give several applications of this result; in particular, we examine the following properties for the subvarieties of AG: transferability property (TP), having enough injectives (EI), Embedding Property, Bounded Obstruction Property and having a model companion.

Abstract:We show that the theories of partially ordered sets, lattices, semilattices, Boolean algebras, Heyting algebras with a further coarser partial order, or a linearization, or an auxiliary relation have the strong amalgamation property, Fra\"ıssé limits and, in many cases, an $ \omega$-categorical model completion with quantifier elimination. The same applies to Kronheimer and Penrose's causal spaces. On the other hand, Urquhart doubly ordered sets do not have the amalgamation property. Our main tool is the superamalgamation property (the strong amalgamation property is not enough), thus we provide further arguments suggesting the usefulness of the superamalgamation property also in pure model theory, not only in algebraic logic.

A Relationship for LYM Inequalities between Boolean Lattices and Linear Lattices with Applications

Abstract:Sperner theory is one of the most important branches in extremal set theory. It has many applications in the field of operation research, computer science, hypergraph theory and so on. The LYM property has become an important tool for studying Sperner property. In this paper, we provide a general relationship for LYM inequalities between Boolean lattices and linear lattices. As applications, we use this relationship to derive generalizations of some well-known theorems on maximum sizes of families containing no copy of certain poset or certain configuration from Boolean lattices to linear lattices, including generalizations of the well-known Kleitman theorem on families containing no $s$ pairwise disjoint members (a non-uniform variant of the famous Erdős matching conjecture) and Johnston-Lu-Milans theorem and Polymath theorem on families containing no $d$-dimensional Boolean algebras.

Amalgamation and Symmetry: From Local to Global Consistency in The Finite

Abstract:We present a generic construction of finite realisations of amalgamation patterns. An amalgamation pattern is specified by a finite collection of finite template structures together with a collection of partial isomorphisms between them. A realisation is a globally consistent solution to the locally consistent specification of this amalgamation problem: this is a single structure equipped with an atlas of distinguished substructures associated with the template structures, their overlaps realising precisely the identifications induced by the given partial isomorphisms. Our construction is based on natural reduced products with suitable groupoids. The resulting realisations are generic in the sense that they can be made to preserve all symmetries of the specification. They can also be made to be universal w.r.t.\ to local homomorphisms up to any specified size. As key applications of the main construction we discuss finite hypergraph coverings of specified levels of acyclicity and a new route to the lifting of local symmetries to global automorphisms in finite structures.

Abstract:The notion of left-symmetric bialgebra was introduced in [C. M. Bai, Left-symmetric bialgebra and an analogue of the classical Yang–Baxter equation, Commun. Contemp. Math. 10(2) (2008) 221–260] which is equivalent to a parakähler Lie algebra which is the Lie algebra of a Lie group G with a G-invariant parakähler structure. In this paper, we study a conformal analog of left-symmetric bialgebras. The notions of left-symmetric conformal coalgebra and bialgebra are introduced. Moreover, the constructions of matched pairs of Lie conformal algebras and left-symmetric conformal algebras are presented. We show that a finite left-symmetric conformal bialgebra which is free as a ℂ[∂]-module is equivalent to a parakähler Lie conformal algebra. We also obtain a conformal analog of the S-equation (see [C. M. Bai, Left-symmetric bialgebras and an analogue of the classical Yang–Baxter equation, Commun. Contemp. Math. 10(2) (2008) 221–260]), and give a construction of the conformal symplectic double.
Amalgamation in Semilinear Residuated Lattices

Abstract:We survey the state of the art on amalgamation in varieties of semilinear residuated lattices. Our discussion emphasizes two prominent cases from which much insight into the general picture may be gleaned: idempotent varieties and their generalizations ($n$-potent varieties, knotted varieties), and cancellative varieties and their relatives (MV-algebras, BL-algebras). Along the way, we illustrate how general-purpose tools developed to study amalgamation can be brought to bear in these contexts and solve some of the remaining open questions concerning amalgamation in semilinear varieties. Among other things, we show that the variety of commutative semilinear residuated lattices does not have the amalgamation property. Taken as a whole, we see that amalgamation is well understood in most interesting varieties of semilinear residuated lattices, with the last few outstanding open questions remaining principally in the cancellative setting.

Abstract:In this paper, we study semiconic idempotent commutative residuated lattices. After giving some properties of such residuated lattices, we obtain a structure theorem for semiconic idempotent commutative residuated lattices. As an application, we make use of the structure theorem to prove that the variety of strongly semiconic idempotent commutative residuated lattices has the amalgamation property.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a new logic, which we call AM3 . It is a connexive logic that has several interesting properties, among them being strongly connexive and validating the Converse Boethius Thesis . These two properties are rather characteristic of the difference between, on the one hand, Angell and McCall's CC1 and, on the other, Wansing's C . We will show that in other aspects, as well, AM3 combines what are, arguably, the strengths of both CC1 and C . It also allows us an interesting look at how connexivity and the intuitionistic understanding of negation relate to each other. However, some problems remain, and we end by pointing to a large family of weaker logics that AM3 invites us to further explore.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{L}$ be a first-order two-sorted language and consider a class of $\mathcal{L}$-structures of the form $\langle M, X \rangle$ where $M$ varies among structures of the first sort, while $X$ is fixed in the second sort, and it is assumed to be a compact Hausdorff space. When $X$ is a compact subset of the real line, one way to treat classes of this kind model-theoretically is via continuous-valued logic, as in [Ben Yaacov-Berenstein-Henson-Usvyatsov 2010]. Prior to that, Henson and Iovino proposed an approach based on the notion of positive formulas [Henson-Iovino 2002]. Their work is tailored to the model theory of Banach spaces. Here we show that a similar approach is possible for a more general class of models. We introduce suitable versions of elementarity, compactness, saturation, quantifier elimination and other basic tools, and we develop basic model theory.

Abstract:Furstenberg–Zimmer structure theory refers to the extension of the dichotomy between the compact and weakly mixing parts of a measure-preserving dynamical system and the algebraic and geometric descriptions of such parts to a conditional setting, where such dichotomy is established relative to a factor and conditional analogs of those algebraic and geometric descriptions are sought. Although the unconditional dichotomy and the characterizations are known for arbitrary systems, the relative situation is understood under certain countability and separability hypotheses on the underlying groups and spaces. The aim of this article is to remove these restrictions in the relative situation and establish a Furstenberg–Zimmer structure theory in full generality. As an independent byproduct, we establish a connection between the relative analysis of systems in ergodic theory and the internal logic in certain Boolean topoi.

Abstract:In this work we study integral residuated chains, and we solve some open problems related to the study of the amalgamation property in varieties of residuated lattices, or equivalently, about the deductive interpolation property in substructural logics. More precisely, we find a V-formation consisting of 2-potent finite commutative integral chains that does not have an amalgam, nor a one-amalgam, in residuated chains; as most relevant consequences, this entails that the following varieties do not have the amalgamation property: semilinear commutative (integral) residuated lattices, MTL-algebras, involutive and pseudocomplemented MTL-algebras, and all of their n-potent subvarieties for n strictly larger than 1. These results entail the failure of the deductive interpolation property for the corresponding substructural logics.

Abstract:<p>Amorphous alloys have attracted the great attention owing to their distinctive properties deriving from unique packing structures. Recently, the significant advances have been achieved for the understanding of structural characteristics and the functional applications of amorphous alloys. In this review, we present an overview of the state of art of structure studies accounting for the characteristics of amorphous alloys, and highlight the recent progresses in functional applications of amorphous alloys. The various structural models for the short‐range order, medium‐range order and long‐range topological order for amorphous alloys are introduced. The functional applications in electrochemistry, mechanism, magnetism, optics, and biomedical engineering are presented in details.
