Abstract:Presents a hydraulic cylinder of a centering device for ship pipeline welding, which uses hydraulic drive to increase the work efficiency of pipeline welding. This paper designs and calculates the structure of the hydraulic cylinder, which is the main part of device. Also adopts finite element analysis and tests the effectiveness at shipyard. The results showed that this design of the hydraulic cylinder of a centering device for ship pipeline welding is practical and reliable. It can provide a good drive for the pipeline centering device, to further improve accuracy, save time and reduce labor intensity.
Study on Water Hydraulic Directional Valve with Plane Piston Structure

Abstract:For dealing with the serious impact generating easily by sudden reversal,an improved structure of water hydraulic directional valve was developed.When new water hydraulic directional valve was designed and manufactured,traditional space seal was changed to direct seal,and compaction force between main valve spool and main valve pocket was logically designed,damper in pilot valve port was matched with sensitive cavity in main valve.After computational fluid dynamics(CFD)approaches were applied to simulate the flow in the main valve flow passage, the structure of flow passage was optimized after analyzing the results of simulation,and static test,dynamic test and life test were carried out.The results show that the valve has fine dynamic characteristics and reverses rapidly.The impact is low when reversing and the primary components are not damaged after continuously reversing ten thousand times.The performance of the water hydraulic directional valve can achieve the level of traditional oil hydraulic directional valve.

Abstract:The unloading valve is selected as the key part of pressure control and overload protection system in the emulsion pump station (EPS). However, severe cavitation erosion occurs on the inner wall of the valve sleeve located in a downstream outlet, which leads to the performance deterioration, instability, and even failure of the unloading valve. This paper aims to reduce the cavitation phenomenon by optimizing the structure of the spool and improving the streamline direction of the unloading valve. The change in internal structure can reduce cavitation cloud formation along with the internal mechanism of the valve. The working conditions of its flow versus time-dependent data’s are obtained by AMESim, and considered as the boundary condition in Fluent. In addition, the changes in flow behavior and input data’s are analyze and validate before the structural is optimized. After an analysis, the variations in velocities and vapor phase, indicating the higher in pressure drop at its minimum size of valve opening and further consideration for design and development stages. Two innovative structures of valve throttling spool are proposed as a simplified design stage and then carefully curved based on internal geometry to uniformly distribute the velocity vector and streamlines. Subsequently, the post-CFD results reveal the presence of factors affecting properties such as pressure loss, high velocity in the outlets, and concentrated of the vapor volume fraction are decreased under the modified throttling structure and effectively lowers the intensity of cavitation phenomenon.

Abstract:Aiming at the pollution fault of aircraft hydraulic system caused by the abnormal wear of the two-way limit valve, the method combining theoretical analysis and numerical simulation is used for fault location analysis based on the structural characteristics of the two-way limit valve, and the effect of the main affecting factors, such as the fitting size between parts and the position deviation of the filter holes, on the wear is studied. The results show that the wear of the two-way limit valve is mainly caused by axial assembly gap inside the product, and assembly gap greater than 0.019mm will cause abnormal wear. To solve the problem, it is suggested that no axial assembly gap will be controlled for subsequent product assembly. The two-way limit valve after 100 times of bidirectional alternating pressure supply test has normal performance and no wear phenomenon occurs.

Abstract:The failure of the plug valve seal may result in dangerous accidents in the production and transportation process of petroleum and chemical products. In the paper at hand, the operating life of the plug valve is studied in the opening–closing process. The adhesion wear between the sealing surface of the plug valve is numerically studied in micro-scale, and the contact force between the sealing surface is balanced with the internal flow field of the plug valve and the deformation force between the set screw and the spool. The internal flow field of the plug valve in opening–closing process is calculated by finite element method. The deformation coupling model between the set screw and the spool is built to analyze the structure and the mechanics of the plug valve. Then, a leakage identification algorithm based on auto-correlation function is implemented for analyzing contact stress of the plug valve's sealing surfaces after wear. Finally, taking plug valve F-2 ISO-STANDARD as an example, the force of turbulent flow field on the spool is calculated during the closing process. Results show, that while the maximum contact stress increases, the pressure decreases, and the displacement trajectory of spool increases. The operating life decreases by increasing the roughness of the spool sealing surface. The model proposed provides a new practical method to evaluate the operating life of the plug valve, which is a good guidance for the design of the valve.

Abstract:As a water-retaining structure, the hydro-automatic flap gate (HFG) has advantages, such as easy operation, simple structure, attractive appearance, cheaper investment, and simple installation and maintenance compared to traditional gates. As such, the flow pattern analysis and flow rate analysis on this hydraulic structure have important engineering significance. In this paper, an experimental study was carried out for testing the water flow during the opening process of a bottom shaft driving flap gate. Three different opening velocities (once in 20 years, once in 50 years, once in 100 years) were selected for obtaining detailed characteristics. Then the space-time change laws of velocity and other hydraulic parameters of gate, gate pier and stilling pool were described. Moreover, the results of the flow regimes under conditions of once in 20 years, once in 50 years, once in 100 years were compared with each other. The findings and conclusions of this paper provide the basis for the project implementation in a sediment-laden river, and provide reference for other similar projects.

Abstract:As a key device influencing the safety and the economy of nuclear power plants simultaneously, the main feed water regulating valve (MFWRV) controls the flow rate flowing to the steam generator. In this work, modal and structural analysis is conducted under different loading conditions to investigate vibration characteristics and mechanical characteristics of MFWRV. The results show that the combination of loading conditions has little effect on the natural frequency and the mode shape of MFWRV. However, it influences the results of structural analysis significantly. Compared with the fixed internal pressure, the variable internal pressure promoted the maximum stress intensity when the valve opening (L/L-max) is smaller than 80%. The maximum deformation when the seismic load is considered is almost three times as large as it when the seismic is not considered. The seismic load always has a positive effect on the maximum gap (g(max)) between the valve core and the sleeve. However, the variable internal pressure only has a positive effect on g(max) relative to the fixed internal pressure when L/L-max = 40 similar to 90%. Besides, the variable internal pressure has an evident negative effect on the maximum sliding distance (sd(max)) between the valve core and the sleeve relative to the fixed internal pressure under the low and the middle valve opening. Abstract:As a key device affecting the safety and economy of the pipeline system of nuclear power plants, the control valve regulates the medium pressure and flow rate. In this paper, taking the sleeve control valve as the research object, lift coefficient of flow field and vibration analysis of valve stem and plug are conducted with fluid-structure interaction (FSI) method to investigate the vibration characteristics of the sleeve control valve. The results show that the vortex moves downward and the intensity decreases with the rising of valve opening. The dominant frequency of vortex shedding occurs around 449 Hz. The lift coefficient CL is maximum at small valve opening. CL reaches about 2400 at Lmin-op, while CL is about 850 at Lmax-op. On M1 of stem, the total vibration level decreases with the rising of the valve opening, increasing by 4 % and 3 % on the Y-axis and Z-axis respectively. On M2 of plug, the total vibration level decreases with the decrease of the valve opening, and the total vibration level is down nearly 7.5 % on the X-axis. With the rising of the valve opening, the total vibration level difference be-tween M1 and M2 is increasing, which reach 25.47 dB and 8.48 dB on the X-axis and Z-axis respectively. This work provides a certain reference value for the research on vibration reduction and noise reduction of sleeve control valves.
Friction and Lubrication Behavior of a Selective Laser Melted Hydraulic Spool Valve under Contaminated Conditions

Abstract:Selective laser melting (SLM) technology has a great potential to reduce size and weight of hydraulic valves. However, the tribological performance of an SLMed valve has not been studied which is crucial for the performance and reliability of the valve, especially under contaminated conditions. In this study, the friction and lubrication behavior between an SLMed valve body and a traditional spool were studied using a scaled reciprocating test rig under various contaminated conditions (frequency at 5 Hz and 25 Hz; particle concentration at 0.4 mg/ml and 4 mg/ml; particle size at 1.6 µm and 15 µm). Three types of SLMed samples were fabricated using different exposure times: one has many large surface pores (pores area > 1000 µm2 accounts for 7.167% of the sample surface); one has a few small surface pores (pores area between 100 µm2 and 1000 µm2 accounts for 0.574% of the sample surface); and one only has micropores (pores area < 300 µm2 accounts for 0.168% of the sample surface). The density, hardness, microstructures, and pore characterization of the SLMed samples were investigated. The results indicated that the frequency greatly influenced friction and lubrication behaviors by determining lubrication regimes. The influence of surface pores on the lubrication and friction depends on contact conditions: pores which served as particle containers to reduce friction are prominent under 5 Hz frequency and high particle concentration; extra lubrication by the surface pores is observed under 25 Hz frequency and low particle concentration.

Abstract:The radial hydraulic clamping force caused by slide valve geometry is deduced in this article, and the simulation analysis of the temperature field, which displays the effect of temperature variation on the gap of valve core and valve sleeve, is conducted. The rules for the influence of the structures of fore taper and back taper on the force of the valve core, as well as the temperature field distribution of slide valve runner under circumstances with different oil temperature and valve body temperature, are obtained. This article also analyses the calculation results and draws the reasons for spool clamping, which provides a theoretical reference for spool valves designing.

Abstract:The digital simulation of the slide valve was carried on using the solver of ADINA. The hydraulic clamping of spool valve was researched with digital simulation method. The relationship between the gap characteristics of spool valve and lock force was researched and how the rectangular equalizing tank to reduces lock force. The lock force pushes the spool move to sleeve,which may lead to spool be clamped. Compared with the offset,the influence of cone angle to lock force is greater. The lock force is reduced ef-fectively after the rectangular equalizing pressure tanks are opened. The optimal location and reasonable structure size of equalizing pressure tanks are gotten by studying how the location and structure size of equalizing pressure tanks reduce the lock force.

Analysis of shiplock operation and throughput capacity based on traffic simulation model

Abstract:In order to quantitatively analyse and predict the shiplock operation conditions and give some guidances in the lock scheduling, a traffic simulation model for a double-lane lock was developed based on the discrete event simulation platform of Arena. Taking the double-lane lock of the Changsha hydroproject located at the Xiangjiang River as a case study, the operation state parameters and the maximum throughput capacity of the Changsha lock were simulated and analyzed under different traffic scheduling modes and working conditions, and the reliability of the simulation model was validated by the measured operation data. The simulated results show that the utilization rate of the lock chamber is only improved in each lockage time and that the lock throughput capacity can effectively increase. The greater the number of ships in the lock chambers for each lockage time is, the longer the lockage time and the mean delay are. From the engineering practices it is found that the relatioships between the lock throughput capacity and delays can be coordinated and the navigation lock scheduling can be optimized under the conditions of protection of the lockage safety, according to the traffic demands and the lock working conditions. With the operation state parameters given by the simulation model, which can help to fully grasp a traffic law of the lock system, the lock maximum throughput capacity at different design levels are analyzed or the lock scheduling programs are optimized in dependence on different traffic loads to improve the lock throughput capacity and the quality of service.

Abstract:The bottom shaft driving flap gate is a new type of sluice gate, which is suitable for urban sewage water treatment. Although the bottom shaft driving flap gate has many advantages such as cheap investment and simple maintenance, it develops slowly because of the constraints of related tech-nologies. As such, the flow pattern analysis and flow rate analysis on this hydraulic structure have important engineering significance. In this paper, a three-dimensional numerical simulation was used to analyze flow conditions of a new bottom shaft driving flap gate in the actual water control project. The CFX turbulence default model and non-slip grid technology were used to simulate the project under the same conditions of the test, and this research obtained the flow line, the flow rate of cloud images, and the velocity vectors of the model. Then this paper explained the reason for the flood conditions (once in 20 y, once in 50 y, once in 100 y) by analyzing the results. The research in this paper verifies the rationality of the model test and the effectiveness of the numerical simulation. The findings and conclusions of this paper provide the basis for the project implementation in a sediment-laden river and provide a reference for other similar projects.
