Abstract:Let $\mathcal{X}$ be a Banach space over the complex field $\mathbb{C}$ and $\mathcal{B(X)}$ be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on $\mathcal{X}$. Let $\mathcal{N}$ be a non-trivial nest on $\mathcal{X}$, ${\rm Alg}\mathcal{N}$ be the nest algebra associated with $\mathcal{N}$, and $L\colon {\rm Alg}\mathcal{N}\longrightarrow \mathcal{B(X)}$ be a linear mapping. Suppose that $p_n(x_1,x_2,\cdots,x_n)$ is an $(n-1)$-th commutator defined by $n$ indeterminates $x_1, x_2, \cdots, x_n$. It is shown that $L$ satisfies the rule $$ L(p_n(A_1, A_2, \cdots, A_n))=\sum_{k=1}^{n}p_n(A_1, \cdots, A_{k-1}, L(A_k), A_{k+1}, \cdots, A_n) $$ for all $A_1, A_2, \cdots, A_n\in {\rm Alg}\mathcal{N}$ if and only if there exist a linear derivation $D\colon {\rm Alg}\mathcal{N}\longrightarrow \mathcal{B(X)}$ and a linear mapping $H\colon {\rm Alg}\mathcal{N}\longrightarrow \mathbb{C}I$ vanishing on each $(n-1)$-th commutator $p_n(A_1,A_2,\cdots, A_n)$ for all $A_1, A_2, \cdots, A_n\in {\rm Alg}\mathcal{N}$ such that $L(A)=D(A)+H(A)$ for all $A\in {\rm Alg}\mathcal{N}$.

Abstract:In this paper, we discuss the rank-1-preserving linear maps on nest algebras of Hilbert-space operators. We obtain several characterizations of such linear maps and apply them to show that a weakly continuous linear bijection on an atomic nest algebra is idempotent preserving if and only if it is a Jordan homomorphism, and in turn, if and only if it is an automorphism or an anti-automorphism.

Abstract:We prove that every 2-local derivation from the algebra $M_n(\mathcal{A})(n>2)$ into its bimodule $M_n(\mathcal{M})$ is a derivation, where $\mathcal{A}$ is a unital Banach algebra and $\mathcal{M}$ is a unital $\mathcal{A}$-bimodule such that each Jordan derivation from $\mathcal{A}$ into $\mathcal{M}$ is an inner derivation, and that every 2-local derivation on a C*-algebra with a faithful traceable representation is a derivation. We also characterize local and 2-local Lie derivations on some algebras such as von Neumann algebras, nest algebras, Jiang-Su algebra and UHF algebras.

Abstract:The goal of this paper is to study cohomological theory of n-Lie algebras with derivations. We define the representation of an n-LieDer pair and consider its cohomology. Likewise, we verify that a cohomology of an n-LieDer pair could be derived from the cohomology of associated LeibDer pair. Furthermore, we discuss the (n−1)-order deformations and the Nijenhuis operator of n-LieDer pairs. The central extensions of n-LieDer pairs are also investigated in terms of the first cohomology groups with coefficients in the trivial representation.

Abstract:The additive (generalized) $\xi$-Lie derivations on prime algebras are characterized. It is shown, under some suitable assumption, that an additive map $L$ is an additive (generalized) Lie derivation if and only if it is the sum of an additive (generalized) derivation and an additive map from the algebra into its center vanishing all commutators; is an additive (generalized) $\xi$-Lie derivation with $\xi\not=1$ if and only if it is an additive (generalized) derivation satisfying $L(\xi A)=\xi L(A)$ for all $A$. These results are then used to characterize additive (generalized) $\xi$-Lie derivations on several operator algebras such as Banach space standard operator algebras and von Neumman algebras.

Abstract:Let $ \mathcal{N} $ be a maximal atomic nest on Hilbert space H and $ \textrm{Alg}\mathcal{N} $denote the associated nest algebra. We prove that a weakly continuous andsurjective linear map $ \Phi\,:\,\textrm{Alg}\mathcal{N}\longrightarrow\textrm{Alg}\mathcal{N} $ preserves the closure of numericalrange if and only if there exists a unitary operator $ U\in\mathcal{B}(H) $ such that$ Phi(T) = UTU^{*} $ for every $ T\in\textrm{Alg}\mathcal{N} $ or $ \Phi(T) = UT^{tr}U^{*} $ for every $ T\in\textrm{Alg}\mathcal{N} $,where $ T^{tr} $ denotes the transpose of T relative to an arbitrary but fixed baseof H. As applications, we get the characterizations of the numerical rangeor numerical radius preservers on $ \textrm{Alg}\mathcal{N} $. The surjective linear maps on the diagonal algebras of atomic nest algebras preserving the closure of numerical range or preserving the numerical range (radius) are also characterized.

Abstract:In this paper, we characterize rank-1 preserving linear maps between nest algebras acting on real or complex Banach spaces. As applications, we show that every weakly continuous and surjective local automorphism (or, anti-automorphism) on a nest algebra with an additional property is either an automorphism or an anti-automorphism; furthermore, every weakly continuous and surjective local inner automorphism on such nest algebras is in fact an inner automorphism.

Abstract:Let A be a unital prime *-algebra (over the complex field C ) with a nontrivial projection. For any S1,S2,...,Sn∈A, define q1(S1)=S1,q2(S1,S2)=[S1,S2]⋄=S1S2−S2S1∗ and qn(S1,S2,...,Sn)=[qn−1(S1,S2,...,Sn−1),Sn]⋄ for all integers n≥3. In this article, it is shown that if a map ξ:A→A (not necessarily linear) satisfies ξ(qn(S1,S2,...,Sn))=∑i=1nqn(S1,...,Si−1,ξ(Si),Si+1,...,Sn) (n≥3) for all S1,S2,...,Sn∈A with S1∗S2∗⋯Sn∗=0, then ξ is an additive *-derivation. Finally, this result is applied to standard operator algebras and factor von Neumann algebras.

A generalization on derivations of Lie algebras

Abstract:We initiate a study on a range of new generalized derivations of finite-dimensional Lie algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. This new generalization of derivations has an analogue in the theory of associative prime rings and unites many well-known generalized derivations that have already appeared extensively in the study of Lie algebras and other nonassociative algebras. After exploiting fundamental properties, we introduce and analyze their interiors, especially focusing on the rationality of the corresponding Hilbert series. Applying techniques in computational ideal theory we develop an approach to explicitly compute these new generalized derivations for the three-dimensional special linear Lie algebra over the complex field.

Abstract:Let R be a unital ring containing a nontrivial idempotent. In this article, under a mild condition on R, we prove that if a map δ:R→R satisfies δ(Pn(A1,A2,A3,...,An))=∑i=1nPn(A1,...,Ai−1,δ(Ai),Ai+1,...,An) for any A1,A2,A3,...,An∈R with A1A2A3=0 , then δ(A+B)−δ(A)−δ(B)∈Z(R) for any A,B∈R . In particular, if R is a von Neumann algebra with no central summands of type I 1 or a factor, then δ(x)=d(x)+τ(x) for all x∈R , where d:R→R is an additive derivation and τ:R→Z(R) is a map vanishing on each (n−1) -th commutator pn(A1,A2,A3,...,An) with A1A2A3=0 .

Abstract:A nonlinear map φ between operator algebras is said to be a numerical radius isometry if w(φ(T−S))=w(T−S) for all T, S in its domain algebra, where w(T) stands for the numerical radius of T. Let N and M be two atomic nests on complex Hilbert spaces H and K, respectively. Denote AlgN the nest algebra associated with N and DN=AlgN∩(AlgN)∗ the diagonal algebra. We give a thorough classification of weakly continuous numerical radius isometries from AlgN onto AlgM and a thorough classification of numerical radius isometries from DN onto DM.

Abstract:It is shown that any Lie affgebra, that is an algebraic system consisting of an affine space together with a bi-affine bracket satisfying affine versions of the antisymmetry and Jacobi identity, is isomorphic to a Lie algebra together with an element and a specific generalised derivation (in the sense of Leger and Luks, [G.F.\ Leger \& E.M.\ Luks, Generalized derivations of Lie algebras, {\em J.\ Algebra} {\bf 228} (2000), 165--203]). These Lie algebraic data can be taken for the construction of a Lie affgebra or, conversely, they can be uniquely derived for any Lie algebra fibre of the Lie affgebra. The close relationship between Lie affgebras and (enriched by the additional data) Lie algebras can be employed to attempt a classification of the former by the latter. In particular, up to isomorphism, a complex Lie affgebra with a simple Lie algebra fibre $\mathfrak{g}$ is fully determined by a scalar and an element of $\mathfrak{g}$ fixed up to an automorphism of $\mathfrak{g}$, and it can be universally embedded in a trivial extension of $\mathfrak{g}$ by a derivation. The study is illustrated by a number of examples that include all Lie affgebras with one-dimensional, nonabelian two-dimensional, $\mathfrak{s}\mathfrak{l}(2,\mathbb{C})$ and $\mathfrak{s}\mathfrak{o}(3)$ fibres. Extensions of Lie affgebras by cocycles and their relation to cocycle extensions of tangent Lie algebras is briefly discussed too.

Abstract:We explicitly describe the Lie algebras $M_L$ of ladder matrices in $M_n$ associate with dominant upper triangular ladders $L$, and completely characterize the derivations of these $M_L$ over a field $F$ with $char(F) \neq 2$. We also completely characterize the derivations of Lie algebras $[M_L, M_L]$ where $L$ are strongly dominant upper triangular ladders and $char(F) \neq 2, 3$.

Abstract:Let A be a semi-finite factor von Neumann algebra. We prove that if a map δ:A→A satisfies that for any A,B∈A there is a linear derivation δA,B:A→A such that δ(A)B+Aδ(B)=δA,B(AB) , then δ is a linear derivation. It is a positive answer to the problem on semi-finite factor von Neumann algebra posed by Molnár in the paper [A new look at local maps on algebraic structures of matrices and operators, New York J Math 28 (2022)].

Non-nilpotent Leibniz algebras with one-dimensional derived subalgebra

Abstract:In this paper we study non-nilpotent non-Lie Leibniz $\mathbb{F}$-algebras with one-dimensional derived subalgebra, where $\mathbb{F}$ is a field with $\operatorname{char}(\mathbb{F}) \neq 2$. We prove that such an algebra is isomorphic to the direct sum of the two-dimensional non-nilpotent non-Lie Leibniz algebra and an abelian algebra. We denote it by $L_n$, where $n=\dim_{\mathbb{F}} L_n$. This generalizes the result found in [11], which is only valid when $\mathbb{F}=\mathbb{C}$. Moreover, we find the Lie algebra of derivations, its Lie group of automorphisms and the Leibniz algebra of biderivations of $L_n$. Eventually, we solve the coquecigrue problem for $L_n$ by integrating it into a Lie rack.

Abstract:The aim of the paper was to give a description of nonlinear Jordan triple derivable mappings on trivial extension algebras. We proved that every nonlinear Jordan triple derivable mapping on a $ 2 $-torsion free $ * $-type trivial extension algebra is a sum of an additive derivation and an additive antiderivation. As an application, nonlinear Jordan triple derivable mappings on triangular algebras were characterized.
