Abstract:With the rapid development of portable energy-storage devices, the demand of miniaturization and flexibility is becoming an important trend.Graphene, a two-dimensional monolayer sheet of sp2-bonded carbon atoms, has been used in various applications including wearable and smart electronic devices due to its extraordinary electrical, mechanical, thermal properties, large specific surface area, and relatively low manufacturing cost.Up to now, many graphene based smart device researches have been reported including wearable and flexible battery, capacitor, and integrated circuits, actuators, most of fabrication approaches involve complex steps, require sophisticated operation, long preparation time and easily lead to the contamination of sample, which is restricted in the commercial application.Besides, the efficient large scale preparation of graphene based functional materials is still a challenge.Laser processing without contact with sample, possesses many advantages of rapid material processing speed, large scan area, nanometer spatial resolution and single-step, which provides a new idea for the efficient and rapid preparation and processing of graphene materials. In this thesis, a positioned laser reduction of freshly spun graphene oxide fibers and a new simple, fast preparation of graphene bulks and their multifunctional composites has been reported. The laser induced graphene/graphene oxide (G/GO) fibers based integrated capacitor was prepared, as well as the moisture responsive woven graphene based fiber actuator.Remarkably, the G/GO fibers display complex, well-confined, predetermined motion and deformation once exposed to moisture through adjusting laser parameters. Moreover, an alternative, solvent-and reagent-free, solid-state route for an extremely simple and fast preparation of graphene bulks and their multifunctional composites has been explored. This method specifically uses the GO aerogel as the starting material. On exposure to a remote laser spot or focused sun light irradiation, the reduction reaction occurs spontaneously and keeps going to convert the whole GO bulk to reduced sample in only tens of millisecond at ambient conditions. This powerful and efficient light irradiation method allows the preparation of not only pure graphene bulks in any macroscopic size, but also their doped structures with heteroatoms (e.g., N, P, S) and functional composites with metals and metal oxides.
