Abstract: Let $T$ be an infinite volume Coxeter tetrahedron in three dimensional real hyperbolic space ${\bf H}^{3}_{\mathbb R}$ with two opposite right-angles and the other angles are all zeros. Let $G$ be the Coxeter group of $T$, so $$G=\left\langle \iota_1, \iota_2, \iota_3, \iota_4 \Bigg| \begin{array} {c} \iota_1^2= \iota_2^2 = \iota_3^2=\iota_4^2=id, \\ (\iota_1 \iota_3)^{2}=(\iota_2 \iota_4)^{2}=id \end{array}\right\rangle$$ as an abstract group. We study type-preserving representations $\rho: G \rightarrow \mathbf{PU}(3,1)$, where $\rho( \iota_{i})=I_{i}$ is a complex reflection fixing a complex hyperbolic plane in three dimensional complex hyperbolic space ${\bf H}^{3}_{\mathbb C}$ for $1 \leq i \leq 4$. The moduli space $\mathcal{M}$ of these representations is parameterized by $\theta \in [\frac{5 \pi}{6}, \pi]$. In particular, $\theta=\frac{5 \pi}{6}$ and $\theta=\pi$ degenerate to ${\bf H}^{2}_{\mathbb C}$-geometry and ${\bf H}^{3}_{\mathbb R}$-geometry respectively. Via Dirichlet domains, we show $\rho=\rho_{\theta}$ is a discrete and faithful representation of the group $G$ for all $\theta \in [\frac{5 \pi}{6}, \pi]$. This is the first nontrivial moduli space in three dimensional complex hyperbolic space that has been studied completely.
Compact Polyhedra of Cubic Symmetry: Geometrical Analysis and Classification

Abstract:Compact polyhedra of cubic point symmetry Oh, exhibit surfaces of planar sections (facets) characterized by normal vector families {abc} with up to 48 members each, compatible with Oh symmetry. We focus first on polyhedra confined by facets with normal vectors of one family, {100}, {110}, and {111}, separately. This yields generic polyhedra which serve for the definition of general compact polyhedra as intersections of the three generic species. Their structural properties, such as shape, size, volume, and surface facets, are found to be described by only three polyhedral structure parameters A, B, C. In addition, we examine compact polyhedra exhibiting facets defined by normal vectors of only one general {abc} family resulting in up to 48 facets. These polyhedra can be described by four polyhedral structure parameters Q, a, b, c. Geometrical properties of all polyhedra are discussed in analytical detail and substantiated by visualization of characteristic examples. Corresponding relationships can also be used to classify shapes and estimate sizes of real compact metal nanoparticles observed e.g. in electron microscopy experiments.

Abstract:We prove that in the moduli space Md of degree d2 rational maps, any hyperbolic component in the disconnectedness locus and of Cantor circle type is a finite quotient of R4d-4-nxTn, where n is determined by dynamics. The proof uses some ideas from Riemann surface theory (Abel's Theorem), dynamical system and algebraic topology.

Abstract:Since there is no hyperbolic Dehn filling theorem for higher dimensions, it is challenging to construct explicit hyperbolic manifolds of small volume in dimension at least four. Here, we build up closed hyperbolic 4-manifolds of volume 34 π 2 3 ⋅ 16 \frac {34\pi ^2}{3}\cdot 16 by using the small cover theory. In particular, we classify all of the orientable four-dimensional small covers over the right-angled 120-cell up to homeomorphism; these are all with even intersection forms.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove there exist at least four geometrically distinct closed characteristics on every compact convex hypersurface Σ in R8. This gives a confirmed answer in the case n=4 to a long standing conjecture in Hamiltonian analysis since the time of A. M. Liapounov in 1892 (cf. P. 235 of [4]).

Abstract:We determine projective equations of smooth complex cubic fourfolds with symplectic automorphisms by classifying 6-dimensional projective representations of Laza and Zheng's 34 groups. In particular, we determine the number of irreducible components for moduli spaces of cubic fourfolds with symplectic actions by these groups. We also discuss the fields of definition of cubic fourfolds in six maximal cases.

Abstract:A cosmological polytope is a lattice polytope introduced by Arkani-Hamed, Benincasa, and Postnikov in their study of the wavefunction of the universe in a class of cosmological models. More concretely, they construct a cosmological polytope for any Feynman diagram, i.e. an undirected graph. In this paper, we initiate a combinatorial study of these polytopes. We give a complete description of their faces, identify minimal faces that are not simplices and compute the number of faces in specific instances. In particular, we give a recursive description of the $f$-vector of cosmological polytopes of trees.

Counting Calabi-Yau Threefolds

Abstract:We enumerate topologically-inequivalent compact Calabi-Yau threefold hypersurfaces. By computing arithmetic and algebraic invariants and the Gopakumar-Vafa invariants of curves, we prove that the number of distinct simply connected Calabi-Yau threefold hypersurfaces resulting from triangulations of four-dimensional reflexive polytopes is 4, 27, 183, 1,184 and 8,036 at $h^{1,1}$ = 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, respectively. We also establish that there are ten equivalence classes of Wall data of non-simply connected Calabi-Yau threefolds from the Kreuzer-Skarke list. Finally, we give a provisional count of threefolds obtained by enumerating non-toric flops at $h^{1,1} =2$.

Abstract:In this paper, we proved that for every non-degenerate $C^3$ compact star-shaped hypersurface $\Sigma$ in $\mathbb{R}^{8}$ which carries no prime closed characteristic of Maslov-type index $-1$, there exist at least four prime closed characteristics on $\Sigma$.

Using this classification one can find all Coxeter subgroups of the group generated by reflections with respect to the faces of the tetrahedra. Abstract:By gluing some copies of a polytope of Kerckhoff and Storm's, we build the smallest known orientable hyperbolic 4-manifold that is not commensurable with the ideal 24-cell or the ideal rectified simplex. It is cusped and arithemtic, and has twice the minimal volume.

Abstract:We consider facet-Hamiltonian cycles of polytopes, defined as cycles in their skeleton such that every facet is visited exactly once. These cycles can be understood as optimal watchman routes that guard the facets of a polytope. We consider the existence of such cycles for a variety of polytopes, the facets of which have a natural combinatorial interpretation. In particular, we prove the following results: - Every permutahedron has a facet-Hamiltonian cycle. These cycles consist of circular sequences of permutations of $n$ elements, where two successive permutations differ by a single adjacent transposition, and such that every subset of $[n]$ appears as a prefix in a contiguous subsequence. With these cycles we associate what we call rhombic strips which encode interleaved Gray codes of the Boolean lattice, one Gray code for each rank. These rhombic strips correspond to simple Venn diagrams. - Every generalized associahedron has a facet-Hamiltonian cycle. This generalizes the so-called rainbow cycles of Felsner, Kleist, Mütze, and Sering (SIDMA 2020) to associahedra of any finite type. We relate the constructions to the Conway-Coxeter friezes and the bipartite belts of finite type cluster algebras. - Graph associahedra of wheels, fans, and complete split graphs have facet-Hamiltonian cycles. For associahedra of complete bipartite graphs and caterpillars, we construct facet-Hamiltonian paths. The construction involves new insights on the combinatorics of graph tubings. We also consider the computational complexity of deciding whether a given polytope has a facet-Hamiltonian cycle and show that the problem is NP-complete, even when restricted to simple 3-dimensional polytopes.
