Abstract:In this paper we introduce the interpolation-degneration strategy to study Kahler-Einstein metrics on a smooth Fano manifold with cone singularities along a smooth divisor that is proportional to the anti-canonical divisor. By interpolation we show the angles in (0,2�) that admit a conical Kahler-Einstein metric form an interval; and by degeneration we figure out the boundary of the interval. As a first application, we show that there exists a Kahler-Einstein metric on P 2 with cone singularity along a smooth conic (degree 2) curve if and only if the angle is in (�/2,2�). When the an- gle is 2�/3 this proves the existence of a Sasaki-Einstein metric on the link of a three dimensional A2 singularity, and thus answers a problem posed by Gauntlett-Martelli- Sparks-Yau. As a second application we prove a version of Donaldson's conjecture about conical Kahler-Einstein metrics in the toric case using Song-Wang's recent existence result of toric invariant conical Kahler-Einstein metrics.

Abstract:A complex Hermitian $n$-manifold $(M,I, \omega)$ is called locally conformally Kahler (LCK) if $d\omega=\theta\wedge\omega$, where $\theta$ is a closed 1-form, balanced if $\omega^{n-1}$ is closed, and SKT if $dId\omega=0$. We conjecture that any compact complex manifold admitting two of these three types of Hermitian forms (balanced, SKT, LCK) also admits a Kahler metric, and prove partial results towards this conjecture. We conjecture that the (1,1)-form $-d(I\theta)$ is Bott--Chern homologous to a positive (1,1)-current. This conjecture implies that $(M,I)$ does not admit a balanced Hermitian metric. We verify this conjecture for all known classes of LCK manifolds.

Abstract: This is the second of a series of three papers which provide proofs of results announced in arXiv:1210.7494. In this paper we consider the Gromov-Hausdorff limits of metrics with cone singularities in the case when the limiting cone angle is less than 2\pi. We show that these are in a natrual way projective algebraic varieties. In the case when the limiting variety and the limiting divisor are smooth we show that the limiting metric also has standard cone singularities.

Abstract:We show that the Kahler-Ricci flow on an algebraic manifold of positive Kodaira dimension and semi-ample canonical line bundle converges to a unique canonical metric on its canonical model. It is also shown that there exists a canonical measure of analytic Zariski decomposition on an algebraic manifold of positive Kodaira dimension. Such a canonical measure is unique and invariant under birational transformations under the assumption of the finite generation of canonical rings.

Abstract:We prove the existence of Kahler-Einstein metric on a K-stable Fano manifold using the recent compactness result on Kahler-Ricci flows. The key ingredient is an algebro-geometric description of the asymptotic behavior of Kahler-Ricci flow on Fano manifolds. This is in turn based on a general finite dimensional discussion, which is interesting in its own and could potentially apply to other problems. As one application, we relate the asymptotics of the Calabi flow on a polarized Kahler manifold to K-stability assuming bounds on geometry.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a complex projective variety with only canonical singularities and with trivial canonical bundle. Let $L$ be an ample line bundle on $X$. Assume that the pair $(X,L)$ is the flat limit of a family of smooth polarized Calabi-Yau manifolds. Assume that for each singular point $x \in X$ there exist a Kahler-Einstein Fano manifold $Z$ and a positive integer $q$ dividing $K_Z$ such that $-\frac{1}{q}K_Z$ is very ample and such that the germ $(X,x)$ is locally analytically isomorphic to a neighborhood of the vertex of the blow-down of the zero section of $\frac{1}{q}K_{Z}$. We prove that up to biholomorphism, the unique weak Ricci-flat Kahler metric representing $2\pi c_1(L)$ on $X$ is asymptotic at a polynomial rate near $x$ to the natural Ricci-flat Kahler cone metric on $\frac{1}{q}K_Z$ constructed using the Calabi ansatz. In particular, our result applies if $(X, \mathcal{O}(1))$ is a nodal quintic threefold in $\mathbb{P}^4$. This provides the first known examples of compact Ricci-flat manifolds with non-orbifold isolated conical singularities.
Roundness of the ample cone and existence of double Lagrangian fibrations on hyperkahler manifolds

Abstract:Let $M$ be a hyperkahler manifold of maximal holonomy (that is, an IHS manifold), and let $K$ be its Kahler cone, which is an open, convex subset in the space $H^{1,1}(M, R)$ of real (1,1)-forms. This space is equipped with a canonical bilinear symmetric form of signature $(1,n)$ obtained as a restriction of the Bogomolov-Beauville-Fujiki form. The set of vectors of positive square in the space of signature $(1,n)$ is a disconnected union of two convex cones. The "positive cone" is the component which contains the Kahler cone. We say that the Kahler cone is "round" if it is equal to the positive cone. The manifolds with round Kahler cones have unique bimeromorphic model and correspond to Hausdorff points in the corresponding Teichmuller space. We prove thay any maximal holonomy hyperkahler manifold with $b_2 > 4$ has a deformation with round Kahler cone and the Picard lattice of signature (1,1), admitting two non-collinear integer isotropic classes. This is used to show that all known examples of hyperkahler manifolds admit a deformation with two transversal Lagrangian fibrations, and the Kobayashi metric vanishes unless the Picard rank is maximal.

Abstract:We discuss the cone and contraction theorem in a suitable complex analytic setting. More precisely, we establish the cone and contraction theorem of normal pairs for projective morphisms between complex analytic spaces. This result is a starting point of the minimal model program for complex analytic log canonical pairs. In this paper, we are mainly interested in normal pairs whose singularities are worse than kawamata log terminal singularities.

Abstract:We show that if $X$ is a smooth Fano manifold which caries a Kähler Ricci soliton, then the canonical cone of the product of $X$ with a complex projective space of sufficiently large dimension is a Calabi--Yau cone. This can be seen as an asymptotic version of a conjecture by Mabuchi and Nikagawa. This result is obtained by the openness of the set of weight functions $v$ over the momentum polytope of a given smooth Fano manifold, for which a $v$-soliton exists. We discuss other ramifications of this approach, including a Licherowicz type obstruction to the existence of a Kähler Ricci soliton and a Fujita type volume bound for the existence of a $v$-soliton.

Abstract:The Kodaira embedding theorem provides an effective characterization of projectivity of a Kahler manifold in terms the second cohomology. X Yang (2018) proved that any compact Kahler manifold with positive holomorphic sectional curvature must be projective. This gives a metric criterion of the projectivity in terms of its curvature. We prove that any compact Kahler manifold with positive 2(nd) scalar curvature (which is the average of holomorphic sectional curvature over 2-dimensional subspaces of the tangent space) must be projective. In view of generic 2-tori being nonabelian, this new curvature characterization is sharp in certain sense.

Abstract:We construct balanced metrics on the family of non-Kahler Calabi-Yau threefolds that are obtained by smoothing after contracting (-1, -1)-rational curves on a Kahler Calabi-Yau threefold. Abstract:The ample cone of a compact Kahler $n$-manifold $M$ is the intersection of its Kahler cone and the real subspace generated by integer (1,1)-classes. Its isotropic boundary is the set of all points $\eta$ on its boundary such that $\int_M \eta^n=0$. We are interested in the relation between the shape of the isotropic boundary of the ample cone of a hyperkahler manifold and the dynamics of its holomorphic automorphism group $G$. In this case, the projectivization of the ample cone is realized as an open, locally polyhedral subset in a hyperbolic space $H$. The isotropic boundary $S$ is realized as a subset of the hyperbolic boundary (the absolute) $A$ of $H$, which is naturally identified with a Euclidean sphere. It is clear that the isotropic boundary $S$ contains the limit set of $G$ acting on its ample cone. We prove that, conversely, all irrational points on $S$ belong to the limit set. Using a result of N. Shah about limiting distributions of curves under geodesic flow on hyperbolic manifolds, we prove that every real analytic curve in $S$ is contained in a geodesic sphere in $S$,and in presence of such curves the limit set is the closure of the union of these geodesic spheres. We study the geometry of such fractal sets, called Apollonian carpets, and establish the link between the Apollonian carpet and the structure of the automorphism group.

Comparing Kahler cone and symplectic cone of one-point blowup of Enriques surface

Abstract:We follow the study by Cascini-Panov on symplectic generic complex structures on Kahler surfaces with $p_g=0$, a question proposed by Tian-Jun Li, by demonstrating that the one-point blowup of an Enriques surface admits non-Kahler symplectic forms. This phenomenon relies on the abundance of elliptic fibrations on Enriques surfaces, characterized by various invariants from algebraic geometry. We also provide a quantitative comparison of these invariants to further give a detailed examination of the distinction between Kahler cone and symplectic cone.

Abstract:We prove that if f : X -> Z is a smooth surjective morphism between projective manifolds and if -K-X is semi-ample, then -K-Z is also semiample. This was conjectured by Fujino and Gongyo. We list several counterexamples to show that this fails without the smoothness assumption on f. We prove the above result by proving some results concerning the moduli divisor of the canonical bundle formula associated to a klt-trivial fibration (X, B)-> Z.

Abstract:This paper is the first step in a systematic project to study examples of Kahler manifolds with positive holomorphic sectional curvature (H > 0). Hitchin proved that any compact Kahler surface with H > 0 must be rational and he constructed such examples on Hirzebruch surfaces M-2,M-k = P(H-k circle plus 1(CP1)). We generalize Hitchin's construction and prove that any Hirzebruch manifold M-n,M-k =F(H-k circle plus 1(CPn-1)) admits a Kahler metric of H > 0 in each of its Kahler classes. We demonstrate that pinching behaviors of holomorphic sectional curvatures of new examples differ from those of Hitchin's which were studied in the recent work of Alvarez-Chaturvedi-Heier. Some connections to previous works on the Kahler-Ricci flow on Hirzebruch manifolds are also discussed. It seems interesting to study the space of all Kahler metrics of H > 0 on a given Kahler manifold. We give higher dimensional examples such that some Kahler classes admit Kahler metrics with H > 0 and some do not.
