Abstract:We extend formulae of Mertens and Mirsky on the asymptotic behaviour of the usual Euler function to the Euler functions of principal rings of integers of imaginary quadratic number fields, giving versions in angular sectors and with congruences.

Abstract:Suppose that $p$ is an odd prime and $g>1$ is a primitive root modulo $p$. Let $M$ be a number field contained in the $p$-th cyclotomic field. Girstmair found a surprising relation between the relative class number of $M$ and the digits of $1/p$ in base $g$. In this paper, we consider an analogue of Girstmair's formula in function fields. Suppose that $P \in \mathbb{F}_q[T]$ is monic irreducible and $G \in \mathbb{F}_q[T]$ is a primitive root modulo $P$. Let $L$ be an extension field of $\mathbb{F}_q(T)$ contained in the $P$-th cyclotomic function field. The goal of this paper is to give relations between the plus and minus parts of the divisor class number of $L$ and the digits of $1/P$ in base $G$.

Abstract:Fix a prime number and let be a CM extension of number fields in which splits relatively. Let be an automorphic representation of a quasi-split unitary group of even rank with respect to such that is ordinary above with respect to the Siegel parabolic subgroup. We construct the cyclotomic -adic -function of , and a certain generating series of Selmer classes of special cycles on Shimura varieties. We show, under some conditions, that if the vanishing order of the -adic -function is 1, then our generating series is modular and yields explicit nonzero classes (called Selmer theta lifts) in the Selmer group of the Galois representation of associated with ; in particular, the rank of this Selmer group is at least 1. In fact, we prove a precise formula relating the -adic heights of Selmer theta lifts to the derivative of the -adic -function. In parallel to Perrin-Riou's -adic analogue of the Gross–Zagier formula, our formula is the -adic analogue of the arithmetic inner product formula recently established by Chao Li and the second author.

Abstract:Let K = $k(\sqrt \theta )$ be a real cyclic quartic field, k be its quadratic subfield and $\tilde K = k(\sqrt { - \theta } )$ be the corresponding imaginary quartic field. Denote the class numbers of K, k and $\tilde K$ by h K , h k and {417-3} respectively. Here congruences modulo powers of 2 for h − = h K /h K and $\tilde h^ - = h_{\tilde K} /h_k $ are obtained via studying the p-adic L-functions of the fields.
A Number Field Analogue of Ramanujan's identity for $ζ(2m+1)$

Abstract:Ramanujan's famous formula for $\zeta(2m+1)$ has captivated the attention of numerous mathematicians over the years. Grosswald, in 1972, found a simple extension of Ramanujan's formula which in turn gives transformation formula for Eisenstein series over the full modular group. Recently, Banerjee, Gupta and Kumar found a number field analogue of Ramanujan's formula. In this paper, we present a new number field analogue of the Ramanujan-Grosswald formula for $\zeta(2m+1)$ by obtaining a formula for Dedekind zeta function at odd arguments. We also obtain a number field analogue of an identity of Chandrasekharan and Narasimhan, which played a crucial role in proving our main identity. As an application, we generalize transformation formula for Eisenstein series $G_{2k}(z)$ and Dedekind eta function $\eta(z)$. A new formula for the class number of a totally real number field is also obtained, which provides a connection with the Kronceker's limit formula for the Dedekind zeta function.

On integral aspects of Asai periods and Euler systems for $\mathrm{Res}_{E/\mathbf{Q}}\mathrm{GL}_2$

Abstract:Let $E/\mathbf{Q}$ be a totally real quadratic field. Using unramified harmonic analysis in Hecke modules, we study the $\ell$-adic integral behavior of the (unramified part of the) Asai period attached to a Hilbert modular form for $E$, when evaluated on arbitrary integral test data in the sense of Loeffler. Using the same representation-theoretic framework, we also prove the conjectured integral behavior of local factors appearing in tame norm relations, between any collection of integral motivic Asai-Flach classes in the recipe of Loeffler-Skinner-Zerbes. Finally, specializing to one such specific integral collection, we obtain the most general version of the Asai-Flach Euler system tame norm relations, extending a result of Grossi.

As shown by Berndt in the viewpoint of general transformation of analytic Eisenstein series, it is a natural companion of Euler's famous formula for even zeta values. In this note, we prove an analogue of the above Ramanujan's identity in the functions fields setting, which involves the Bernoulli-Carlitz numbers.

Explicit formula in a imaginary quadratic number field

Abstract:In \cite{Haran_1990}, Haran, using Riesz potentials, presents a version of the classical explicit formula for the Riemann zeta function that treats all places equally. In this article, we extend Haran's results to the case of an imaginary quadratic extension of $\mathbb{Q}$. To this end, we define Riesz kernels for both the totally ramified and complex cases. Although Haran implicitly addressed the unramified extension, we also include this case for the sake of completeness. Following Haran's approach with the Riemann zeta function, we demonstrate that these Riesz kernels naturally arise in connection with the contributions of the totally ramified and complex places to the Dedekind zeta function of the imaginary quadratic extension.

Finite Fields and Their Applications

Abstract:In recent years, there has been a lot of progress in obtaining non-trivial bounds for bilinear forms of Kloosterman sums in Z / m Z for arbitrary integers m. These results have been motivated by a wide variety of applications, such as improved asymptotic formulas for moments of L-functions. However, there has been very little work done in this area in the setting of rational function fields over finite fields. We remedy this and provide a number of new non-trivial bounds for bilinear forms of Kloosterman and Gauss sums in this setting, based on new bounds on the number of solutions to certain modular congruences in F q [ T ] . These improve upon some results of Macourt and Shparlinski (2019).

Abstract:This article proves a formula relating the multiplicity of an induced representation and that of the inducing datum for the Bessel and the Fourier-Jacobi models over Archimedean local fields by generalizing the approach of C. Moeglin and J.-L. Waldspurger in [MW12], which was successful for Bessel models of special orthogonal groups over non-Archimedean local fields. As an application, we give a uniform proof of the local Gan-Gross-Prasad conjecture for all classical groups over Archimedean local fields for generic local $L$-parameters based on the tempered basic cases.

Abstract:We construct, for imaginary quadratic number fields with class number 1, an arithmetic site of Connes-Consani type. The main difficulty here is that the constructions of Connes and Consani and part of their results strongly rely on the natural order existing on real numbers which is compatible with basic arithmetic operations. Of course nothing of this sort exists in the case of imaginary quadratic number fields with class number 1. We first define what we call arithmetic site for such number fields, we then calculate the points of those arithmetic sites and we express them in terms of the adèles class space considered by Connes to give a spectral interpretation of zeroes of Hecke L functions of number fields. We get therefore that for a fixed imaginary quadratic number field with class number 1, that the points of our arithmetic site are related to the zeroes of the Dedekind zeta function of the number field considered and to the zeroes of some Hecke L functions. We then study the relation between the spectrum of the ring of integers of the number field and the arithmetic site. Finally we construct the square of the arithmetic site.

Abstract:We compute Hirano's formula for the mod 2 arithmetic Dijkgraaf-Witten invariant ${Z}_k$ for the ring of integers of the quadratic field $k=\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{p_1\cdots p_r})$, where ${p_i}$'s are distinct prime numbers with $p_i \equiv 1 \pmod{4}$, and give a simple formula for $Z_k$ in terms of the graph obtained from quadratic residues among $p_1,\cdots, p_r$. Our result answers the question posed by Ken Ono. We also give a density formula for mod 2 arithmetic Dijkgraaf-Witten invariants.

Class Number Formulas for Certain Biquadratic Fields

Abstract:We consider the class numbers of imaginary quadratic extensions $F(\sqrt{-p})$, for certain primes $p$, of totally real quadratic fields $F$ which have class number one. Using seminal work of Shintani, we obtain two elementary class number formulas for many such fields. The first expresses the class number as an alternating sum of terms that we generate from the coefficients of the power series expansions of two simple rational functions that depend on the arithmetic of $F$ and $p$. The second makes use of expansions of $1/p$, where $p$ is a prime such that $p \equiv 3 \pmod{4}$ and $p$ remains inert in $F$. More precisely, for a generator $\varepsilon_F$ of the totally positive unit group of $\mathcal{O}_F$, the base-$\varepsilon_{F}$ expansion of $1/p$ has period length $\ell_{F,p}$, and our second class number formula expresses the class number as a finite sum over disjoint cosets of size $\ell_{F,p}$.

Abstract:Following Zagier, this work studies the rationality and divisibility of Fourier coefficients of meromorphic Hilbert modular forms associated with real quadratic fields, using theta lifts and weak Maass forms. We establish conditions where these coefficients are rational with bounded denominators and demonstrate divisibility properties under suitable linear combinations.

Abstract:Fix a prime number $p$ and let $E/F$ be a CM extension of number fields in which $p$ splits relatively. Let $\pi$ be an automorphic representation of a quasi-split unitary group of even rank with respect to $E/F$ such that $\pi$ is ordinary above $p$ with respect to the Siegel parabolic subgroup. We construct the cyclotomic $p$-adic $L$-function of $\pi$, and show, under certain conditions, that if its order of vanishing at the trivial character is $1$, then the rank of the Selmer group of the Galois representation of $E$ associated with $\pi$ is at least $1$. Furthermore, under a certain modularity hypothesis, we use special cycles on unitary Shimura varieties to construct some explicit elements in the Selmer group called Selmer theta lifts; and we prove a precise formula relating their $p$-adic heights to the derivative of the $p$-adic $L$-function. In parallel to Perrin-Riou's $p$-adic analogue of the Gross--Zagier formula, our formula is the $p$-adic analogue of the arithmetic inner product formula recently established by Chao~Li and the second author.
