Abstract:Let n be a positive integer with a factor k such that n≥3k. Let q be a prime power, and let Gq(n,k) be the set of all k-dimensional Fq-subspaces of the field Fqn. In this paper, we construct cyclic subspace codes in Gq(n,k) with minimum distance 2k−2 and size (⌈n2k⌉−1)⋅(qn−1)qkq−1. In the case n=3k, their sizes differ from the sphere-packing bound for subspace codes by a factor of 1q−1 asymptotically as k goes to infinity. Our construction makes use of variants of the Sidon spaces constructed by Roth et al. (2018) and analogous to the results they attained for the case n=2k. We also establish the existence of Sidon spaces of Gq(7k,2k), and thus we resolve part of the conjecture about the existence of cyclic subspace codes in Gq(n,k) with minimum distance 2k−2 and size qn−1q−1.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish a novel category of sequence spaces and by utlizing q -analogue of Λ-matrix. Our investigation outlines several topological characteristics and inclusion results of these newly introduced sequence spaces, specifically identifying them as BK-spaces. Subsequently, we demonstrate that these novel sequence spaces are of nonabsolute type and establish their isometric isomorphism with and . Moreover, we obtain the α -, β -, and γ -duals of these sequence spaces. We further characterize the class of matrices, where X is any of the spaces , c , or . Lastly, our study delves into the exploration of specific geometric properties exhibited by the space .

Abstract:Given a polarized Kähler manifold (X,L). The space ℋ of Kähler metrics in $$ 2_\Pi {c_1}{(L)}$$ is an infinite-dimensional Riemannian symmetric space. As a metric space, it has non-positive curvature. There is associated to ℋ a sequence of finite-dimensional symmetric spaces $$ \mathcal{B}_{k}{({k}\, \epsilon \,\mathbb{N})} $$ of non-compact Type. We prove that ℋ is the limit of $$ \mathcal{B}_{k} $$ as metric spaces in certain sense. As applications, this provides more geometric proofs of certain known geometric properties of the space ℋ.

I give some inclusion relations with some topological properties. Abstract:We look for all linear isomorphisms from the mapping spaces onto the tensor products of matrices which send $k$-superpositive maps onto unnormalized bi-partite states of Schmidt numbers less than or equal to $k$. They also send $k$-positive maps onto $k$-block-positive matrices. We also look for all the bilinear pairings between the mapping spaces and tensor products of matrices which retain the usual duality between $k$-positivity and Schmidt numbers $\le k$. They also retain the duality between $k$-superpositivity and $k$-block-positivity.

Abstract:We introduce and study a three-folded linear operator depending on three parameters that has associated a triangular number tilling of the plane. As a result the set of all triples of integers is decomposed in classes of equivalence organized in four towers of two-dimensional triangulations. We provide the full characterization of the represented integers belonging to each network as families of certain quadratic forms. We note that one of the towers is generated by a germ that produces a covering of the plane with {Löschian} numbers.

On the Correspondence Between Integer Sequences and Vacillating Tableaux

Abstract:A fundamental identity in the representation theory of the partition algebra is $n^k = \sum_{\lambda} f^\lambda m_k^\lambda$ for $n \geq 2k$, where $\lambda$ ranges over integer partitions of $n$, $f^\lambda$ is the number of standard Young tableaux of shape $\lambda$, and $m_k^\lambda$ is the number of vacillating tableaux of shape $\lambda$ and length $2k$. Using a combination of RSK insertion and jeu de taquin, Halverson and Lewandowski constructed a bijection $DI_n^k$ that maps each integer sequence in $[n]^k$ to a pair of tableaux of the same shape, where one is a standard Young tableau and the other is a vacillating tableau. In this paper, we study the fine properties of Halverson and Lewandowski's bijection and explore the correspondence between integer sequences and the vacillating tableaux via the map $DI_n^k$ for general integers $n$ and $k$. In particular, we characterize the integer sequences $\boldsymbol{i}$ whose corresponding shape, $\lambda$, in the image $DI_n^k(\boldsymbol{i})$, satisfies $\lambda_1 = n$ or $\lambda_1 = n-k$.

Abstract:Let k be a nonzero complex number. In this paper we consider k-circulant matrices with arithmetic sequence and investigate the eigenvalues, determinants and Euclidean norms of such matrices. Also, for k = 1, the inverses of such (invertible) matrices are obtained (in a way different from the way presented in [1]), and the Moore-Penrose inverses of such (singular) matrices are derived.

The Telephone Coordination Game Revisited: From Random to Deterministic Algorithms

Abstract:Two players wishing to communicate are placed each in a room with N telephones connecting the two rooms. The players do not know how the telephones are interconnected. In each round, each player picks up a phone and says “hello” until when they hear each other. The problem is to devise an algorithm minimising the delay to establish communication. The above problem, called the Telephone Coordination Game, also termed as the Telephone Problem, is of fundamental importance in distributed algorithm design. In this paper, we investigate a generalised version where among N telephones, only a subset can establish communication between the two players. We are interested in devising the deterministic strategy achieving bounded rendezvous delay and minimising the worst-case rendezvous delay. Specifically, we first establish the lower-bound of worst-case rendezvous delay. We then characterise the structure of the phone pick sequences that can guarantee rendezvous without any prior coordination. Assuming each player has a globally unique ID, we further devise a deterministic strategy that (1) guarantees rendezvous between the players regardless of their telephone labeling functions and their relative time difference and (2) approaches the performance bound within a constant factor proportional to the ID length.

Abstract:Given $7 \leq k \leq 9$ points $(x_i,y_i) \in \mathbb{P}^2 \times \mathbb{P}^2$, we characterize rank deficiency of the $k \times 9$ matrix $Z_k$ with rows $x_i^\top \otimes y_i^\top$, in terms of the geometry of the point sets $\{x_i\}$ and $\{y_i\}$. This problem arises in the conditioning of certain well-known reconstruction algorithms in computer vision, but has surprising connections to classical algebraic geometry via the interplay of quadric surfaces, cubic curves and Cremona transformations. The characterization of rank deficiency of $Z_k$, when $k \leq 6$, was completed in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2301.09826" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2301.09826">arXiv:2301.09826</a>.

Abstract:Keller's conjecture on cube tilings asserted that, in any tiling of $\mathbb{R}^d$ by unit cubes, there must exist two cubes that share a $(d-1)$-dimensional face. This is now known to be true in dimensions $d\leq 7$ and false for $d\geq 8$. In this article, we investigate analogues of Keller's conjecture for integer tilings.

Abstract:For $k\geq 0$, a $k$-generalized Markov number is an integer which appears in some positive integer solution to the $k$-generalized Markov equation $x^2 + y^2 + z^2 + k(yz + zx + xy) = (3 + 3k)xyz$. In this paper, we discuss a combinatorial structure of generalized Markov numbers. To investigate this structure in detail, we use two families of matrices: the $k$-generalized Cohn matrices and the $k$-Markov-monodromy matrices, which are elements of $SL(2, \mathbb{Z})$ whose $(1,2)$-entries are $k$-generalized Markov numbers. We show that these two families of matrices recover the tree structure of the positive integer solutions to the generalized Markov equation, and we give geometric interpretations and a combinatorial interpretation of $k$-generalized Markov numbers. As an application, we provide a computation algorithm of classical Markov number from a one-dimensional dynamical viewpoint. Moreover, we clarify a relation between $k$-generalized Markov numbers and toric surface singularities via continued fractions.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider all possible variants of Choi matrices of linear maps, and show that they are determined by non-degenerate bilinear forms on the domain space. We will do this in the setting of finite dimensional vector spaces. In case of matrix algebras, we characterize all variants of Choi matrices which retain the usual correspondences between $k$-superpositivity and Schmidt number $\le k$ as well as $k$-positivity and $k$-block-positivity. We also compare de Pillis' definition [Pacific J. Math. 23 (1967), 129--137] and Choi's definition [Linear Alg. Appl. 10 (1975), 285--290], which arise from different bilinear forms.

Intersection matrices revisited

Abstract:Several intersection matrices of $s$-subsets vs. $k$-subsets of a $v$-set are introduced in the literature. We study these matrices systematically through counting arguments and generating function techniques. A number of new or known identities appear as natural consequences of this viewpoint; especially, appearance of the derivative operator $d/dz$ and some related operators reveals some connections between intersection matrices and the "combinatorics of creation-annihilation". As application, the eigenvalues of several intersection matrices including some generalizations of the adjacency matrices of the Johnson scheme are derived; two new bases for the Bose--Mesner algebra of the Johnson scheme are introduced and the associated intersection numbers are obtained as well. Finally, we determine the rank of some intersection matrices.

Abstract:Packing, covering and tiling is a fascinating subject in pure mathematics. It mainly deals with arrangement patterns and efficiencies of geometric objects. This subject has a long and rich history, even back to Kepler, Newton, Lagrange and Gauss. Inspired by its applications and with the help of computing methods, in recent years it has become a very active research area in mathematics once again. Most of the fundamental problems in this subject can be characterized as simple sounding but challenging. This subject has important applications in many other areas such as Number Theory, Logic, Complex Analysis, Optimization, Coding Theory, Crystallography, Material Science, Industry, and even Biology. In spite of the long history, many of its key problems are still open, even in the plane. The purpose of this paper is to present a comprehensive review for packing, covering and tiling in the two-dimensional spaces. We will focus on the key problems, the fundamental results, the creative ideas, some important applications, and some significant connections with other areas.
