Abstract:The internet of things (IoT) refers to a framework of interrelated, web associated objects that can gather and move information over a remote network without human interference. With a quick development in the arrangement of IoT gadgets and expanding want to make medical care more financially savvy, customized, and proactive, IoT is ready to assume a solid function in all perspectives of the healthcare industry. In this context, IoT-based healthcare provides several benefits such as instant and reliable treatment, cost reduction, improved communication, etc. by using different new technologies. Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN) technologies can enhance the quality of data gathering and data transferring in smart systems. Machine Learning(ML) are put to use at every level of smart healthcare systems. Fog computing reduces communication cost and provides low latency. Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) technologies provide less complex and more flexible network structures. Blockchain technology offers a better way of protection of users' sensitive information. This paper aims to provide comprehensive descriptions of ongoing research projects and the utilization of the above-mentioned technologies in smart healthcare systems. In this paper, the latest studies, proposed techniques, and the current solutions of smart healthcare systems are elaborated in the context of emerging technologies, applications and challenges of these systems to provide a better understanding of what IoT means in the healthcare industry now and what it will mean in the future.

Abstract:The rise of Internet of things (IoT) technology has revolutionized urban living, offering immense potential for smart cities in which smart home, smart infrastructure, and smart industry are essential aspects that contribute to the development of intelligent urban ecosystems. The integration of smart home technology raises concerns regarding data privacy and security, while smart infrastructure implementation demands robust networking and interoperability solutions. Simultaneously, deploying IoT in industrial settings faces challenges related to scalability, standardization, and data management. This research paper offers a systematic literature review of published research in the field of IoT in smart cities including 55 relevant primary studies that have been published in reputable journals and conferences. This extensive literature review explores and evaluates various aspects of smart home, smart infrastructure, and smart industry and the challenges like security and privacy, smart sensors, interoperability and standardization. We provide a unified perspective, as we seek to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of smart cities while overcoming security concerns. It then explores their potential for collective integration and impact on the development of smart cities. Furthermore, this study addresses the challenges associated with each component individually and explores their combined impact on enhancing urban efficiency and sustainability. Through a comprehensive analysis of security concerns, this research successfully integrates these IoT components in a unified approach, presenting a holistic framework for building smart cities of the future. Integrating smart home, smart infrastructure, and smart industry, this research highlights the significance of an integrated approach in developing smart cities.

Abstract:IoT is a fundamental enabling technology for creating smart spaces, which can assist the effective face-to-face and online education systems. The transition to smart education (integrating IoT and AI into the education system) is appealing, which has a concrete impact on learners' engagement, motivation, attendance, and deep learning. Traditional education faces many challenges, including administration, pedagogy, assessment, and classroom supervision. Recent developments in ICT (e.g., IoT, AI and 5G, etc.) have yielded lots of smart solutions for various aspects of life; however, smart solutions are not well integrated into the education system. In particular, the COVID-19 pandemic situation had further emphasized the adoption of new smart solutions in education. This study reviews the related studies and addresses the (i) problems in the traditional education system with possible solutions, (ii) the transition towards smart education, and (iii) research challenges in the transition to smart education (i.e, computational and social resistance). Considering these studies, smart solutions (e.g., smart pedagogy, smart assessment, smart classroom, smart administration, etc.) are introduced to the problems of the traditional system. This exploratory study opens new trends for scholars and the market to integrate ICT, IoT, and AI into smart education.

Abstract:The effect of technology has caused many institutions to intend to change their approach to teaching and learning, resulting in the current model of teaching and learning being an active collaborative and self-directed one. The connection between education and technology has received attention as part of educational policy and practice. Debatable topics like how to use technology in the classroom have therefore punctuated complaints about declining educational standards, unemployed learners, duplicate curricula, and archaic institutional structure. In the framework of information and communication technologies and societal growth, the Internet of Things (IoT) is asserting its vital position. Institutions may improve learning outcomes with the use of the Internet of Things by offering enhanced learning experiences, increasing operational effectiveness, and collecting real-time, actionable insight into student performance. The current state of the Internet of Educational Things (IoET) is examined from several educational perspectives in this article; a few of them are highlighted, and both of their established and potential educational benefits are discussed. Additionally, it provides in-depth discussions on current issues and problems for the IoET from a variety of approaches. The investigation performs a bibliometric analysis with VOSviewer to focus on peer-reviewed research articles published in well-known publications databases over the past eight (8) years. The findings of this study should also act as a strong incentive for universities and colleges around the world to use IoT-based teaching and learning technology for improved academic achievement.

Abstract:The Internet of Things (IoT) has many applications in our daily lives. One aspect in particular is how the IoT is making a substantial impact on education and learning; as we move into the 'Smart Educational' era. This article explores how the IoT continues to transform the education landscape, from classrooms and assessments to culture and attitudes. Smart Education is a pivotal tool in the fight to meet the educational challenges of tomorrow. The IoT tools are getting used more and more often in the area of education, aiming to increase student engagement, satisfaction and quality of learning. IoT will reshape student culture and habits beyond belief. As Smart Education is more than just using technologies, it involves a whole range of factors, from the educational management through to the pedagogical techniques and effectiveness. Educators in the 21st century now have access to gamification, smart devices, data management, and immersive technologies. Enabling academics to gather a variety of information from students. Ranging from monitoring student engagement to adapting the learning strategies for improved learning effectiveness. Through Smart Education, educators will be able to better monitor the needs of individual students and adjust their learning load correspondingly (i.e., optimal learning environment/workload to support and prevent students failing). One of the biggest challenges for educators is how new technologies will address growing problems (engagement and achievement). The scale and pace of change (technological IoT era) is unprecedented. Typically, jobs students are trained for today will not be here tomorrow. The Internet of things will help physicians and hospital staff perform their duties comfortably and intelligently. With the latest advanced technologies, most of the challenges of using IoT have been resolved, and this technology can be a great revolution and has many benefits in the future of digital. Healthcare is one of the most useful areas for IoT use. The most important application of IoT is to monitor and make quick decisions in critical situations. Thanks to this technology-based treatment approach, there is an unprecedented opportunity to better the quality and productivity of treatments and better the patient's well-being and better government funding.</p><h3 class="u-h4 u-margin-m-top u-margin-xs-bottom">Methods</h3><p>: In this paper, we provide a comprehensive overview of the primary uses of IoT in healthcare. We used the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to analyze and comparison articles published in this field between 2015 and March 2020.</p><h3 class="u-h4 u-margin-m-top u-margin-xs-bottom">Results</h3><p>: A comprehensive taxonomy is presented based on the contents of the articles under study. In this article, a brief overview of selected articles based on research questions is given and highlights the most critical challenges and case studies for the future use of IoT in healthcare.</p><h3 class="u-h4 u-margin-m-top u-margin-xs-bottom">Conclusions</h3><p>: According to a detailed study of the 89 articles and a glimpse into about 208 articles, challenges and future trends in healthcare have been identified.</p>

Abstract:Growth and advancement of the Deep Learning (DL) and the Internet of Things (IoT) are figuring out their way over the modern contemporary world through integrating various technologies in distinct fields viz, agriculture, manufacturing, energy, transportation, supply chains, cities, healthcare, and so on. Researchers had identified the feasibility of integrating deep learning, cloud, and IoT to enhance the overall automation, where IoT may prolong its application area through utilizing cloud services and the cloud can even prolong its applications through data acquired by IoT devices like sensors and deep learning for disease detection and diagnosis. This study explains a summary of various techniques utilized in smart healthcare, i.e., deep learning, cloud-based-IoT applications in smart healthcare, fog computing in smart healthcare, and challenges and issues faced by smart healthcare and it presents a wider scope as it is not intended for a particular application such aspatient monitoring, disease detection, and diagnosing and the technologies used for developing this smart systems are outlined. Smart health bestows the quality of life. Convenient and comfortable living is made possible by the services provided by smart healthcare systems (SHSs). Since healthcare is a massive area with enormous data and a broad spectrum of diseases associated with different organs, immense research can be done to overcome the drawbacks of traditional healthcare methods. Deep learning with IoT can effectively be applied in the healthcare sector to automate the diagnosing and treatment process even in rural areas remotely. Applications may include disease prevention and diagnosis, fitness and patient monitoring, food monitoring, mobile health, telemedicine, emergency systems, assisted living, self-management of chronic diseases, and so on.

Abstract:Nowadays, the Internet has spread to practically every country around the world and is having unprecedented effects on people's lives. The Internet of Things (IoT) is getting more popular and has a high level of interest in both practitioners and academicians in the age of wireless communication due to its diverse applications. The IoT is a technology that enables everyday things to become savvier, everyday computation towards becoming intellectual, and everyday communication to become a little more insightful. In this paper, the most common and popular IoT device capabilities, architectures, and protocols are demonstrated in brief to provide a clear overview of the IoT technology to the researchers in this area. The common IoT device capabilities including hardware (Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and ESP8266) and software (operating systems, and built-in tools) platforms are described in detail. The widely used architectures that have been recently evolved and used are the three-layer architecture, SOA-based architecture, and middleware-based architecture. The popular protocols for IoT are demonstrated which include CoAP, MQTT, XMPP, AMQP, DDS, LoWPAN, BLE, and Zigbee that are frequently utilized to develop smart IoT applications. Additionally, this research provides an in-depth overview of the potential healthcare applications based on IoT technologies in the context of addressing various healthcare concerns. Finally, this paper summarizes state-of-the-art knowledge, highlights open issues and shortcomings, and provides recommendations for further studies which would be quite beneficial to anyone with a desire to work in this field and make breakthroughs to get expertise in this area.

Abstract:This in depth analysis explores the transformative implications of the convergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) in healthcare and smart cities. By examining the current state, challenges and innovations within these sectors, existing literature highlights how IoT plays a crucial role in reshaping healthcare through remote patient monitoring, personalized treatments and improved healthcare delivery. It also discusses how IoT impacts smart cities by optimizing urban services and resource management. While challenges such as security, interoperability and data governance persist in both sectors, there are promising innovations in secure IoT frameworks and robust governance policies that provide solutions. The analysis identifies similarities in challenges and benefits across different sectors while acknowledging sector specific impacts. To shape the future of healthcare and smart city development effectively, it suggests focusing on fortified security measures, interoperable standards, collaborative efforts among stakeholders, as well as integrating IoT with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) for enhanced decision making. Abstract:Smart healthcare, an integral element of connected living, plays a pivotal role in fulfilling a fundamental human need. The burgeoning field of smart healthcare is poised to generate substantial revenue in the foreseeable future. Its multifaceted framework encompasses vital components such as the Internet of Things (IoT), medical sensors, artificial intelligence (AI), edge and cloud computing, as well as next-generation wireless communication technologies. Many research papers discuss smart healthcare and healthcare more broadly. Numerous nations have strategically deployed the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) alongside other measures to combat the propagation of COVID-19. This combined effort has not only enhanced the safety of frontline healthcare workers but has also augmented the overall efficacy in managing the pandemic, subsequently reducing its impact on human lives and mortality rates. Remarkable strides have been made in both applications and technology within the IoMT domain. However, it is imperative to acknowledge that this technological advancement has introduced certain challenges, particularly in the realm of security. The rapid and extensive adoption of IoMT worldwide has magnified issues related to security and privacy. These encompass a spectrum of concerns, ranging from replay attacks, man-in-the-middle attacks, impersonation, privileged insider threats, remote hijacking, password guessing, and denial of service (DoS) attacks, to malware incursions. In this comprehensive review, we undertake a comparative analysis of existing strategies designed for the detection and prevention of malware in IoT environments.

Abstract:Internet of Things (IoT) applications are switching from general to precise in different industries, e.g., healthcare, automation, military, maritime, smart cities, transportation, logistics, and many more. In the healthcare domain, these applications had demonstrated an incredible improvement in patient assessment, monitoring, and prescription, etc., with ease of access through the Internet. Despite its benefits, this technology also offers several security challenges for the research community and healthcare stakeholders, because of its wireless communication and open-area deployment. To explore, patient wearable devices and other networking entities follows unstructured communication format to share their accumulated data in the network, which makes them susceptible to manifold security threats. Considering the significance of these applications, data acquisition, processing, storage, and assessment on client and remote sides need a high standard of secure communication infrastructure. Therefore, security of these applications is one of the major obstacles that prevent their widespread use in different healthcare domains. To discuss different security constraints, in this paper, we present a comprehensive survey of the theoretical literature from 2015-to-2023 to highlight the unresolved security problems of this emerging technology. Based on the evaluated literature pros and cons, we determine the security requirements and challenges of Healthcare-IoT (HC-IoT) applications. Following this, we demonstrate future research directions that could be useful for the researchers and industry stakeholders working in this domain. To demonstrate the uniqueness of this work and claim its contribution, we compare our work section-wise with previously published papers to answer the question of reviewers, editors, students, and readers, why this review article is required in the presence of already published review articles.

Abstract:Internet of things (IoT) has significantly altered the traditional lifestyle to a highly technologically advanced society. Some of the significant transformations that have been achieved through IoT are smart homes, smart transportation, smart city, and control of pollution. A considerable number of studies have been conducted and continue to be done to increase the use of technology through IoT. Furthermore, the research about IoT has not been done fully in improving the application of technology through IoT. Besides, IoT experiences several problems that need to be considered in order to get the full capability of IoT in changing society. This research paper addresses the key applications of IoT, the architecture of IoT, and the key issues affecting IoT. In addition, the paper highlights how big data analytics is essential in improving the effectiveness of IoT in various applications within society.

Abstract:In fact, information systems are the foundation of new productivity sources, medical organizational forms, and erection of a global economy. IoT based healthcare systems play a significant role in ICT and have contribution in growth of medical information systems, which are underpinning of recent medical and economic development strategies. However, to take advantages of IoT, it is essential that medical enterprises and community should trust the IoT systems in terms of performance, security, privacy, reliability and return-on-investment, which are open challenges of current IoT systems. For heightening of healthcare system; tracking, tracing and monitoring of patients and medical objects are more essential. But due to the inadequate healthcare situation, medical environment, medical technologies and the unique requirements of some healthcare applications, the obtainable tools cannot meet them accurately. The tracking, tracing and monitoring of patients and healthcare actors activities in healthcare system are challenging research directions for IoT researchers. State-of-the-art IoT based healthcare system should be developed which ensure the safety of patients and other healthcare activities. With this manuscript, we elaborate the essential role of IoT in healthcare systems; immense prospects of Internet of things in healthcare systems; extensive aspect of the use of IoT is dissimilar among different healthcare components and finally the participation of IoT between the useful research and present realistic applications. Abstract:Smart agriculture integrates key information communication technologies with sensing technologies to provide effective and cost-efficient agricultural services. Smart agriculture leverages a wide range of advanced technologies, such as wireless sensor networks, Internet of Things, robotics, agricultural bots, drones, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing. The adoption of these technologies in smart agriculture enables all stakeholders in the agricultural sector to develop better managerial decisions to get more yield. We differentiate between traditional agriculture and smart agriculture based on the deployment architectures along with a focus on the various processing stages in smart agriculture. We present a comprehensive review of various types of sensors that are playing a vital role in enabling smart agriculture. We also review the integration of various sensing technologies with emerging technologies and computing infrastructures to make agriculture smarter. Finally, we discuss open research challenges that must be addressed to improve the adoption and deployment of smart agriculture in the future.

Abstract:In the realm of fourth-generation industrialization, there will be great demand for a skilled workforceTo produce a skilled workforce, we need sustainable education with quality and equity. Conventional ways of delivering and managing education would not fulfil the demands of the fourth industrial revolution (4IR). Disruptive technologies, such as Internet of Things (IoT), have great potential in revolutionizing the current educational setup. Therefore, this research work aims to present an overview of the capabilities of IoT applications in educational settings. Our research article digs into recent research carried out referring to IoT applications in education and provides a detailed insight into the topic from three different perspectives, i.e., from the perspective of school management, teachers, and learners. The present research explains the ways in which IoT has been applied for the benefit of school managers, teachers, and learners, showcased in the recent literature. The paper also sheds light on bottlenecks for IoT applications and explains security, privacy, scalability, reliability, and dehumanization as main constraints in IoT applications in educational settings.

Abstract:The COVID-19 pandemic and other ongoing health crises have underscored the need for prompt healthcare services worldwide. The traditional healthcare system, centered around hospitals and clinics, has proven inadequate in the face of such challenges. Intelligent wearable devices, a key part of conventional healthcare, leverage Internet of Things (IoT) technology to collect extensive data related to the environment, as well as psychological, behavioral, and physical health. Managing the substantial data generated by these wearables and other IoT devices in healthcare poses a significant challenge, potentially impeding decision-making processes. Recent interest has grown in applying data analytics for extracting information, gaining insights, and making predictions. Additionally, machine learning (ML), known for addressing various networking challenges, has seen increased implementation to enhance IoT systems in healthcare. This chapter focuses exclusively on exploring the hurdles encountered when integrating ML methods into the IoT healthcare sector. We offer a comprehensive summary of current research challenges and potential opportunities, categorized into three scenarios: IoT-based, ML-based, and the implementation of ML methodologies in the healthcare industry via the IoT. We highlight the difficulties faced by existing methodologies, providing valuable insights for future researchers, healthcare professionals, and government agencies. This ensures they stay updated on the latest developments in big data analytics for intelligent healthcare utilizing ML.
