Abstract:In response to the factor that affects the evolution of Leishan Miao embroidery style, this paper, based on field inspections and consulting related county chronicles, characterizes its style from two aspects: pattern composition and content, and tries to characterize its style from the perspectives of craftsmanship and the social role of embroidery women. By reviewing the angles of change, and analyzing the reasons for the evolution of embroidery styles, this research has found that the style of Miao embroidery can be summarized as the proper use of continuous and separate patterns, as well as the fusion of reality and illusion in the subject matter. The study holds that the comprehensive application of stitching is the technical guarantee for the evolution of styles. At the same time, the transformation of embroidery women's social roles from “women weavers” to “women farmers” and then to “businesswomen” is the potential motivation for the evolution of embroidery styles.

Abstract:Abstract Chinese traditional manual embroidery has a long history, which is one of the important intangible cultural heritage in China. However, with the increasing social demand for embroidery, the traditional manual embroidery production capacity is too small and the price is high, computer embroidery and embroidery technology has an important market. With the optimization of artificial intelligence algorithms such as deep learning, computer embroidery skills have been gradually optimized, which has replaced manual embroidery in some aspects. In the clothing industry, computer embroidery skills have been widely developed. Through computer technology, designers can carry out three-dimensional modeling design, which is not achieved by traditional plane decoration. Therefore, computer embroidery technology can be gradually applied to the behavior and social factors of modern society, which will encourage the inheritance of national costume culture. First of all, this paper analyzes the current computer embroidery design. Then, this paper analyzes the steps of computer embroidery. Finally, this paper puts forward the application of computer embroidery techniques in modern Chinese fashion design.

Abstract:Abstract Embroidery, as a folk craft widely inherited by our country, has experienced thousands of years of cultural accumulation and precipitation, and has a very high artistic achievement. Under the background of economic and cultural development, traditional embroidery has formed a unique and complete art system, which has a high reference value for the application and development of fashion design. Abstract:Targeting features of elements in embroidery of Qiang Ethnic Minority,this thesis compares data of patterns in embroidery of Qiang Ethnic Minority,which has been collected,extracts molding elements of each theme of patterns,combines with historical and cultural connotation with theories of pattern design,analyzes its subject matter,molding,form,color characteristics and summarizes the graphic and textual materials.Finally,the analyses shows that the embroidery of Qiang Ethnic Minority holds high aesthetic value because the modeling of their patterns is vivid,the composition of their pictures is well-proportioned,the elements of their patterns are abundant and the art styles are forthright and sincere.Therefore,the embroidery of Qiang Ethnic Minority is of great value.Finally,this thesis not only puts forward problems in the development and design of the embroidery of Qiang Ethnic Minority but also proposes countermeasures.

Abstract:Bian Embroidery is one of the national cultural relics of Henan Province in China, originating in the Song Dynasty. Its original art form, which combines traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy with embroidery instead of painting, has a substantial artistic value and has impacted the history of Chinese embroidery. This paper takes the art form and craft characteristics of Bian Embroidery as the research object, compiles and refines the collected historical materials of Bian Embroidery through literature analysis, physical evidence, and case study, and innovatively applies its pattern themes, an art form, color characteristics and craft techniques to modern clothing design. The practical application shows that the application of Bian Embroidery elements to clothing design can produce high aesthetic and cultural values, aiming to inherit and protect the traditional folk art of Bian Embroidery and to find innovative points where traditional handicraft and popular design meet. At the same time, it can not only make the traditional Bian Embroidery handicraft derived in modern clothing design but also provide a new idea and direction for the future development of Bian Embroidery and can enrich the products of modern clothing, develop new technology and new style, meet people's increasingly high aesthetic demand, inject fresh blood into the clothing industry, and can improve the cultural connotation of clothing itself, and bring the traditional handicraft of the Chinese nation to the world. Abstract:This study delves into the innovative application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning algorithms in the realm of ethnic fashion design, with a specific emphasis on the Miao women's apparel. We introduce an AI-powered approach that strategically bridges modern technology with traditional elements, denoting a significant stride in the field of fashion design. Our research underscores three major aspects: customization of body shape, fabric selection, and innovative design. An AI-driven statistical methodology was utilized to accurately adapt to the unique body characteristics of Miao women, demonstrating an application of machine learning in pattern recognition. Furthermore, the AI's capacity to analyze the fabric properties was harnessed to optimize material selection, creating a balance between aesthetics and comfort. The innovative use of the Multimodal Unsupervised Image-to-Image Translation (MUNIT) algorithm, an AI tool, generated diverse and trendy designs, thereby enriching the distinctiveness of ethnic apparel. Our study accentuates the synergistic blend of traditional crafting methods and modern technological applications, highlighting the role of AI in the sustainable development of ethnic fashion. Additionally, we also demonstrate the advantages of Made-to-Measure (MTM) approaches, emphasizing the importance of individual customization in contemporary fashion design. This research presents a pioneering exploration at the nexus of AI, pattern recognition, and ethnic fashion design, which has the potential to transform the future of the fashion industry.

Abstract:As an important part of the intangible cultural heritage, traditional Chinese women's needlework is facing the challenge of inheritance and development. The cultural connotations embodied in Chinese women's needlework art are concentrated in three aspects: the natural view of the unity of man and nature, the primitive folk view, and the artistic view of auspiciousness. It still has high social and cultural value in contemporary society. Therefore, in response to the impact of large-scale mechanized production, women's needlework culture urgently needs to innovate and develop through new designs, new techniques, new media, new ideas, and new models. At the same time, under the background of the "Belt and Road" construction, Chinese women's needlework, as a characteristic cultural business card, plays a role in international exchange and cooperation, cultural output, and China's image building. This article, based on a theoretical interpretation of the traditional concept of cherishing things and combining methods including documents, material objects, manual restoration, etc., firstly expounds the influence and meaning of traditional Chinese folk textile mending in carrying out the concept of cherishing things in the contemporary era; secondly, it focuses on summarising the origin and development of the textile mending industry, pointing out the application prospects of hand darning techniques in nowadays market; and finally, via interpreting the comprehensive design of materials technology, pro-phase protection of preventive mending “smart creation” mode innovation of textiles, etc., this study specifically analyses the inheritance and innovation of folk textile mending techniques, so as to provide references for relevant industries and handicraft enthusiasts in the future.
The Language of Miao Embroidery: Exploring the Traditional “Embroidered Rear Skirt Panels” Worn by the Miao Women of the Huawu Village

Abstract:Embroidered rear skirt panels are the decorative embroidered horizontal strips at the centers of the rears of traditional skirts worn by Miao women residing in Huawu Village, located in the Qianxi County of Guizhou, China. The local traditional patchwork patterns on these panels demonstrate the craftsmanship of women's embroidery. Local single men choose their marriage partners according to the embroidery skills of single women on their panels. Because of the remote geography of Huawu, the techniques and patterns of the traditional embroidery in this village have not been investigated. In this study, a 2-week field survey was conducted in Huawu and Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences to examine the techniques of embroidered rear skirt panels and the meanings implied in these panels. The processes in which local women create the rear skirt panels using patchwork embroidery were photographed and recorded, and residents were interviewed to clarify their interpretations of the patterns on the panels. The results revealed that the panels in Huawu are created using the appliqué and reverse appliqué techniques, which are different from those in other ethnic minorities in China. Huawu Miao women use their unique embroidery techniques to illustrate twin-bird and bird–dragon patterns to convey procreation.

Abstract:Through the way of creating model, this paper deeply explores and analyses the extraction of Miao embroidery cultural factors, endows traditional embroidery with new vitality, further enriches the cultural connotation of products, inherits the fine Miao embroidery culture and endows it with new vitality, promotes it to be further developed on the basis of adapting to the development environment of the new era, and better meets the diversification and individualization of various users. Firstly, this paper collects data from various channels, collects appropriate morphological samples according to relevant standards or requirements after integrating them scientifically and reasonably, chooses the method of semantic difference which is widely used at present, and compiles a five-point psychological scale which is reliable, reasonable, standardized and effective. At the same time, it discusses it comprehensively and deeply through the classical analytic hierarchy process. Various factors affecting the vocabulary of stylistic features and their importance are ranked to determine the most significant and prominent cultural factors. The main purpose of this paper is to combine the two different fields of culture and design rationally, so as to promote the further enrichment of product culture on the basis of inheriting and developing traditional culture.

Abstract:Su embroidery, as an intangible cultural heritage of China, is a treasure accumulated by human civilization, but it has been gradually fading from people's view in recent years. To handle the problems of slow creative output, high learning difficulty, and low production efficiency, and to promote the sustainable development of Su embroidery, this study builds an automatic generation system of Su embroidery called MasterSu, based on the CorelDraw platform. The system can automate the generation of embroidery sketches through area texture filling and color recognition, which allows users to participate in the design process. Finally, the performance and usefulness of the system are verified through user experiments, and it is confirmed that the system can facilitate novice users to understand the embroidery culture, learn the embroidery techniques, and create their embroidery works through the system.

Abstract:The elements of traditional clothing must take fashion as its carrier to transfer the value because fashion is the main factor that makes Chinese traditional culture enjoyed by other ethnic groups. Chinese Traditional Clothing Arts has its profound cultural background and broad space for re-creation which is inexhaustible inspiration sources for designers. However, due to a late start, there is still a large gap between the design and theoretical research of Chinese-style clothing and other designs with strong American and Japanese colors in the market. This paper takes the Chinese traditional elements used by fashion designers at home and abroad as the breakthrough point. Through in-depth study of Chinese Traditional Clothing Arts and its cultural connotation, it explores the integration between traditional Chinese elements and fashion design and also puts forward some distinctive ideas about Chinese clothing fashion design.

Abstract:As one of the traditional Chinese crafts, Yi embroidery carries rich cultural connotation and historical value. In recent years, with the implementation of rural revitalization strategy, the protection and inheritance of Yi embroidery culture has become an urgent problem to be solved. Through field research and literature research, this paper takes Nanhua County as an example to explore the artistic characteristics and specific contents of Nanhua embroidery culture, and discusses the characteristic development measures, difficulties faced in the development process and future innovation paths of Nanhua Yi embroidery culture from the perspective of rural revitalization. For the inheritance and innovation of Yi embroidery culture, the author puts forward the following paths: government departments take the lead to increase investment, and multi-subjects cooperate to participate in the construction of embroidery cultural innovation system; With the help of brand effect to enhance market competitiveness, combined with popular elements such as national style to broaden the industrial space; With the rural revitalization policy as the starting point, promote the embroidery industry and other industries embedded development; Develop the digital protection and inheritance of Yi embroidery culture. In the future, it is also possible to further explore the value and significance of Yi embroidery in contemporary society, integrate Yi embroidery into a broader framework of cultural heritage protection, carry out interdisciplinary research, and combine the knowledge of anthropology, sociology, cultural heritage protection and other fields to deeply explore the multidimensional significance and complexity of Yi embroidery culture.
