What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The focus of this collection of papers is on geological hazards and their risk management. The article mainly discusses different types of geological hazards, such as landslides, rainfall-induced slope failures, urban floods, and volcanic eruptions, and uses various technologies including artificial intelligence, remote sensing, geographic information systems, and big data analysis to predict, assess the risks, and manage these disasters. 1. The article introduces prediction and risk assessment methods for landslide susceptibility, such as using random forest and artificial neural network machine learning techniques, and emphasizes the importance of interpretable models in practical applications. 2. Through detailed investigations and distribution analysis of rainfall-induced slope failures, the relationship between rainfall intensity and landslide occurrence is revealed, and global-scale disaster pattern analysis is conducted using the Global Landslide Catalogue data. 3. The paper also studies the influence of salt content in arid regions on the formation of shrinkage cracks in loess and proposes new methods for slope stability analysis under different saturation conditions. 4. The stress and deformation characteristics of oil and gas pipelines in landslides are studied to improve prevention measures, and the media's key role in enhancing community preparedness for volcanic eruptions is evaluated. 5. Simulation and assessment of the spatial distribution and influencing factors of urban floods are conducted, highlighting the impact of land use and changes in drainage systems on flood risks. 6. Finally, the collection of papers discusses seismic activity prediction and the applicability of the Pakistan seismic hazard prediction equation. Overall, these studies aim to enhance understanding of geological hazards through advanced technologies and methods to support more effective risk management strategies and sustainable future planning.
