Abstract:Over the past decade, computing power has increased, new sensing technologies have been developed, and our understanding of how we interact with the earth has evolved, leading to new opportunities and priorities in geophysical research. These changes have been more rapid in some areas than others, and new topics have emerged as well. It is challenging for geophysicists, including junior staff and undergraduates starting their geophysics journeys, to stay abreast of scientific and industrial trends. Thus, the Early Career Subcommittee of the SEG Research Committee (RC) thought it imperative to survey members of the RC in 2022. To that end, a survey was conducted, and responses were collected from 43 RC members.

Abstract:Since 1994, the Ukrainian Phase Diagrams and Thermodynamics Commission has been a part of the Alloy Phase Diagram International Commission (APDIC), in which 18 representatives from 26 countries of the world participate in its activities. The exchange of scientific information and coordination of activities of the international scientific community, mainly in the field of phase diagrams and thermodynamics, promoting the application of phase diagrams in industry and fundamental science, and dissemination of the methodology of critical evaluation of scientific information in world science are among the priority tasks of the APDIC's activity. As part of the annual report of the Ukrainian Commission, at the APDIC meeting on June 30, 2023, information was presented on the results of the activities of Ukrainian scientists in this field in 2022. It is presented in the form of a table with data on the studied systems and obtained results and a list of references to published papers. Scientists from the Frantsevich Institute for Problems of Materials Science (National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Kyiv), Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Kyiv), and Donbas State Engineering Academy (Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Kramatorsk) provided relevant information to the Ukrainian Commission.

Abstract:The European Committee for Future Accelerators (ECFA) Early-Career Researcher (ECR) panel, which represents the interests of the ECR community to ECFA, presents in this document its initiatives and activities in the year 2023. This report summarises the process of the first big turnover in the panel composition at the start of 2023 and reports on the activities of the active working groups - either pursued from before or newly established. The overarching goal of the ECFA-ECR panel is to better understand and support the diverse interests of early-career researchers in the ECFA community and beyond.

Abstract:We are excited to welcome you to the 2022 International Conference on Service Robotics (ICoSR 2022)! Once again, the ICoSR research community cannot meet in person, because of the COVID-19 pandemic; originally, we planned and hoped for at least a hybrid conference to be hosted in Xishuangbanna, China. In order to create safe, meaningful, and wanted human-robot interactions for people and society, to create new ways of thinking about our future lives with robotic technology, virtual conference is essential. The ICoSR Conference is presenting topquality research and the virtual format might even allow us to attract and include more people who would not have the opportunity to travel to China.

Abstract:In his address to the Commission, the outgoing president A. Milani explained what he considers have been done well in the past triennium, what has been done only in part, and what has not been done at all. Among the things in which the performance was rated good, he mentioned the successful sponsorship and/or co-sponsorship of four meetings (IAU Colloquia 196 and 197, and Symposia 229 and 236) which have been held in the previous period, as well as of the Symposium on exoplanets to be held next year in China. The only failure in this respect was the proposed meeting in India, which failed already at the proposal definition stage. Also, Milani expressed his satisfaction with the triennial report which has been compiled for the occasion, and his gratitude to the collaborating authors.

Abstract:The 2022 Snowmass Community Summer Study consisted of two years of engagement with the particle physics community to craft a US particle physics strategy for the next decade, culminating in the 2022 Snowmass Book. This Report of the Topical Group on Calorimetry forms the basis for a small section of the Snowmass Book dealing with the community's vision for calorimetry going forward. It is the distillation of ideas put forth in public meetings and numerous white papers already freely available. The Report describes particle flow and dual readout approaches, integration of precision timing, and trends in calorimetric materials, and highlights key research directions for the next decade.

Abstract:IAU Commission 35 consists of members of the International Astronomical Union whose research is concerned with the structure and evolution of stars in all parts of the H-R diagram. Their interests range from various aspects of stellar interior physics, such as convection, diffusion, rotation, magnetic fields, to asteroseismology and the prediction of the evolutionary and nucleosynthetic histories of stars that are of vital importance for our understanding of stellar populations and galactic chemical evolution. This report presents some highlights that were published during the present triennial term and which concern the field of Stellar Constitution.

Abstract:Combining science, education, outreach, art, culture, and sustainable development, the International Congress–Festival‐CIRIR 2022 (ICF‐CIRIR 2022) was held from June 28 to July 2, 2022, in the Rochechouart impact structure. A total of 59 persons registered for the Congress–Festival, with 48 of these participating in person, from 18 countries on four continents, and with 46 abstract submissions. A field trip and a drill core sample screening party followed the event from July 4 to 6. Owing to the success of the event, it will be renewed every 3–4 years to help developing the interest of young scientists and the public at large, in impact processes and their role in the evolution of planets and life.

Abstract:Major results of researches conducted by Russian geodesists in 2019-2022 on the topics of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG) of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) are presented in this issue. This report is prepared by the Section of Geodesy of the National Geophysical Committee of Russia. In the report prepared for the XXVII General Assembly of IUGG (Germany, Berlin, 11-20 July 2023), the results of principal researches in geodesy, geodynamics, gravimetry, in the studies of geodetic reference frame creation and development, Earth's shape and gravity field, Earth's rotation, geodetic theory, its application and some other directions are briefly described. For some objective reasons not all results obtained by Russian scientists on the field of geodesy are included in the report.

Advances in Atmospheric Sciences

Abstract:The 28th General Assembly of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) will be held on 11-20 July 2023 in Berlin, Germany. The Chinese National Committee (CNC) for the International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (IAMAS) has invited leading Chinese scientists to review the progress and achievements in meteorology and atmospheric sciences in China since 2019, continuing its nearly 40 years tradition of submitting national reports to IUGG. The last four national reports were published as special issues in Advances in Atmospheric Sciences (AAS), the only associated journal of IAMAS, in 2007, 2012, and 2019, respectively. These special issues have received increasing global attention and are widely cited.
