Abstract:This study focuses on the effects of various post-treatment methods on the as-built laser melting deposition (LMD) TC11 alloy. The first step involves an annealing treatment at 950°C, utilizing different cooling methods (wind cooling, air cooling, and furnace cooling), followed by an ageing treatment at 540°C to achieve a stable microstructure. The effects of these treatments on the microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the alloys were analyzed. The heat-treated samples exhibit a microstructure composed of intersecting α and β phases, with noticeable variations in morphology and size. Further, the microstructure under different cooling conditions is compared: wind cooling results in an equiaxial α phase morphology, with an average width of approximately 0.71 μm. While air cooling generates multi-scale α microstructures, including equiaxial, slatted, and ultrafine α phases with an average width of 0.29 μm. Furnace cooling leads to an average α phase width of 1.01 μm. Notably, air cooling yields the best comprehensive mechanical properties, with a product of strength and elongation 1.24 times greater than those of furnace-cooling samples and 1.03 times greater than those of wind-cooling samples. However, the presence of ultrafine α phase in air-cooling samples results in reduced corrosion resistance.
