Abstract:In-Plasma Catalysis (IPC) reactor, as a typical form of coupling non-thermal plasma and catalysis, has raised interest in investigating its characteristics due to the facility that it can achieve some reactions at mild conditions, like ammonia synthesis. Electric field in IPC reactor is one of crucial parameters that regulates plasma characteristics and influences chemical catalytical performance. In this work, we measured the spatiotemporal electric field in a simplified atmospheric IPC reactor powered by nanosecond pulses using EFISH (Electric field induced second harmonic generation) technique. The influences of different factors, including pulse repetition rate and dielectric constant, on the electric field were investigated. Meanwhile, a two-dimensional equivalent IPC fluid model was also established. By combining simulation and experiment results, the electrical parameters and plasma dynamic evolution of our simplified IPC reactor were investigated elaborately.
