Abstract:Using the representation introduced in our another paper[1], an artificial game in quantized quantum strategy space is proposed and studied. Although it has wellknown classical correspondence, the equilibrium state of this quantized quantum game is an entangled state of the two players. It partially shows the independent meaning of the new representation.

Abstract:In this paper we quantize the Card Game. In the classical version of this game, one player (Alice) can always win with propability 2/3. But when the other player (Bob) is allowed to apply quantum strategy, the original unfair game turns into a fair and zero-sum game. Further more, the procedure in which Bob perform his quantum strategy does not include any ingredient of entanglement.

Abstract:We study a quantum game played by two players with restricted multiple strategies. It is found that in this restricted quantum game Nash equilibrium does not always exist when the initial state is entangled. At the same time, we find that when Nash equilibrium exists the payoff function is usually different from that in the classical counterpart. except in some special cases. This presents an explicit example showing quantum game and classical game may differ. When designing a quantum game with limited strategies, the allowed strategy should be carefully chosen according to the type of initial state.

Abstract:Quantum game is an interesting field and many scientists have done a lot of innovative work in it. We give a quantum model about incomplete information. In this model we find whether the pure-strategy Bayes-Nash equilibrium exists or not is strongly dependent on the entanglement of the initial state. We also find the player Bob can always find an initial state and a pure-strategy Bayes-Nash equilibrium to get more payoff than classical game with some parameter.

Abstract:We use a kind of disentanglement-free state to serve as the initial state shared by players and referee in quantum games. It is found that when two players choose some strategies the payoffs of the quantum games will not be affected by the external single-mode vacuum field and the various interactions present in the process. Furthermore, we show that for some games our scheme can be used to remove the dilemma in its corresponding classical game even with the presence of noises; meanwhile, one can find the solution to those games without disturbing the players’ payoffs.

Abstract:We investigate the 3-player quantum Prisoner’s Dilemma with a certain strategic space, a particular Nash equilibrium that can remove the original dilemma is found. Based on this equilibrium, we show that the game is enhanced by the entanglement of its initial state.

Abstract:We propose a more general entangling operator in the quantization of Cournot model. It is discovered that the total profit at the Nash equilibrium always achieves maximum once the von Neumann entropy tends to infinity. Moreover, the asymmetry introduced here would cause some “encouraging” and “suppressing” effect on players' profit.

Abstract:We generalize the quantum Prisoner's Dilemma to the case where the playersshare a non maximally entangled states. We show that the game exhibits anintriguing structure as a function of the amount of entanglement with twothresholds which separate a classical region, an intermediate region and afully quantum region. For the particular case of the quantum prisoners' dilemma, the property of the game changes fascinatingly with the variation of entanglement of the game's state.

Abstract:We quantize prisoners dilemma, chicken game and battle of sexes to explore the effect of quantization on their strategic form. The games start with Werner-like state as an initial state. We show that for the measurement in entangled basis the strategic forms of these games remain unaffected by quantization. On the other hand when measurement is performed in product basis then these games could not retain their strategic forms.

Abstract:Quantum game theory aims to study interactions of people (or other agents) using quantum devices with possibly conflicting interests. Recently Zhang studied some quantitative questions in general quantum strategic games of growing sizes [19]. However, a fundamental question not addressed there is the characterization of quantum correlated equilibria (QCE). In this paper, we answer this question by giving a sufficient and necessary condition for an arbitrary state ρ being a QCE. In addition, when the condition fails to hold for some player i, we give an explicit positive-operator valued measurement (POVM) for that player to achieve a strictly positive gain of payoff. Finally, we give some upper bounds for the maximum gain by playing quantum strategies over classical ones, and the bounds are tight for some games.

Abstract:We present a new framework for creating a quantum version of a classical game, based on Fine's theorem. This theorem shows that for a given set of marginals, a system of Bell's inequalities constitutes both necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of the corresponding joint probability distribution. Using Fine's theorem, we re-express both the player payoffs and their strategies in terms of a set of marginals, thus paving the way for the consideration of sets of marginals -- corresponding to entangled quantum states -- for which no corresponding joint probability distribution may exist. By harnessing quantum states and employing Positive Operator-Valued Measures (POVMs), we then consider particular quantum states that can potentially resolve dilemmas inherent in classical games.

Abstract:We consider a class of games between two competing players that take turns acting on the same many-body quantum register. Each player can perform unitary operations on the register, and after each one of them acts on the register the energy is measured. Player A aims to maximize the energy while player B to minimize it. This class of zero-sum games has a clear second mover advantage if both players can entangle the same portion of the register. We show, however, that if the first player can entangle a larger number of qubits than the second player (which we refer to as having quantum advantage), then the second mover advantage can be significantly reduced. We study the game for different types of quantum advantage of player A versus player B and for different sizes of the register, in particular, scenarios in which absolutely maximally entangled states cannot be achieved. In this case, we also study the effectiveness of using random unitaries. Last, we consider mixed initial preparations of the register, in which case the player with a quantum advantage can rely on strategies stemming from the theory of ergotropy of quantum batteries.

Abstract:Quantum phenomena have remained largely inaccessible to the general public. This can be attributed to the fact that we do not experience quantum mechanics on a tangible level in our daily lives. Games can provide an environment in which people can experience the strange behavior of the quantum world in a fun and mentally engaging way. Games could also offer an interesting test bed for near term quantum devices because they can be tailored to support varying amounts of quantum behavior through simple rule changes, which can be useful when dealing with limited resources. This paper explores the design of a variant of Chess which is built on top of unitary dynamics and includes non-trivial quantum effects such as superposition, entanglement, and interference. A movement ruleset is introduced which allows players to create superposition, entanglement, and interference effects. A measurement rule is also introduced which helps limit the size of the superposition, so the game remains tractable for a classical computer, and also helps make the game more comprehensible for a player.

Abstract:In the standard approach to quantum games, players' moves are local unitary transformations on an entangled state that is subsequently measured. Players' payoffs are then obtained as expected values of the entries in the payoff matrix of the classical game on a set of quantum probabilities obtained from the quantum measurement. In this paper, we approach quantum games from a diametrically opposite perspective. We consider a classical three-player symmetric game along with a known expression for a set of quantum probabilities relevant to a tripartite Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) experiment that depends on three players' directional choices in the experiment. We define the players' moves as their directional choices in an EPR setting and then express their payoff relations in the resulting quantum game in terms of their directional choices, the entries of the payoff matrix, and the quantum probability distribution relevant to the tripartite EPR experiment.

Abstract:Quantum game theory is a new interdisciplinary field between game theory and physical research. In this paper, we extend the classical inspection game into a quantum game version by quantizing the strategy space and importing entanglement between players. Our result shows that the quantum inspection game has various Nash equilibrium depending on the initial quantum state of the game. It is also shown that quantization can respectively help each player to increase his own payoff, yet fails to bring Pareto improvement for the collective payoff in the quantum inspection game.

Abstract:Theory of quantum games is a new area of investigation that has gone through rapid development during the last few years. Initial motivation for playing games, in the quantum world, comes from the possibility of re-formulating quantum communication protocols, and algorithms, in terms of games between quantum and classical players. The possibility led to the view that quantum games have a potential to provide helpful insight into working of quantum algorithms, and even in finding new ones. This thesis analyzes and compares some interesting games when played classically and quantum mechanically. A large part of the thesis concerns investigations into a refinement notion of the Nash equilibrium concept. The refinement, called an evolutionarily stable strategy (ESS), was originally introduced in 1970s by mathematical biologists to model an evolving population using techniques borrowed from game theory. Analysis is developed around a situation when quantization changes ESSs without affecting corresponding Nash equilibria. Effects of quantization on solution-concepts other than Nash equilibrium are presented and discussed. For this purpose the notions of value of coalition, backwards-induction outcome, and subgame-perfect outcome are selected. Repeated games are known to have different information structure than one-shot games. Investigation is presented into a possible way where quantization changes the outcome of a repeated game. Lastly, two new suggestions are put forward to play quantum versions of classical matrix games. The first one uses the association of De Broglie's waves, with travelling material objects, as a resource for playing a quantum game. The second suggestion concerns an EPR type setting exploiting directly the correlations in Bell's inequalities to play a bi-matrix game.
