Abstract:Highly flexible energy storage stations (ESSs) can effectively address peak regulation challenges that emerge with the extensive incorporation of renewable energy into the power grid. Nevertheless, the different characteristics and varying support capabilities of multiple ESSs can result in complex calculations and difficult converging, preventing the comprehensive exploitation of their flexibility. In contrast, clustered energy storage stations exhibit significant potential for flexibility and regulation. Consequently, a two-stage evaluation method for aggregated flexibility of clustered energy storage stations by considering prediction errors in peak regulation is proposed to reduce this effect, consisting of a pre-evaluation stage and an intraday rolling evaluation stage. First, in the pre-evaluation stage, by employing the hybrid objective and subjective weighting method, a grid-ESSs support capability matrix is established to screen out the ESSs. Second, based on the capability evaluation results, a modified Chino polyhedron that considers peak regulation requirements is employed to characterize the aggregated flexibility. Furthermore, in the intraday rolling evaluation stage, a response and rolling evaluation model of clustered energy storage stations incorporating the dynamic characteristics of the state of charge (SoC) is built. The distribution patterns of the prediction errors between the day-ahead and intraday dispatch signals are described by a Gaussian mixture model. The numerical outcomes show that the proposed approach achieves a balance between aggregated accuracy and computational efficiency, while also enhancing the capability of ESSs to contribute to peak regulation.
