Abstract:The development of wearable gait analysis devices has significantly contributed to the widespread adoption of quantitative gait analysis for stroke patients. The utilization of plantar pressure insoles can transcend spatial limitations, enabling the collection of plantar pressure data over extended distances. Investigating the effective acquisition of gait information and the extraction of essential gait evaluation features from plantar pressure presents a valuable research challenge. Leveraging a self-developed plantar pressure insole, we collected data from 6 hemiplegic patients and 6 normal volunteers. Following the segmentation of gait phases, we extracted pressure distribution and Center of Pressure (COP) trajectories for each gait phase. Subsequently, employing Random Forest (RF) classification, we successfully differentiated between patients with left hemiplegia, patients with right hemiplegia, and individuals without any medical condition. The significance ranking determined by RF classification revealed notable disparities in gait characteristics between hemiplegic patients and healthy individuals. These identified characteristics may play a pivotal role in assessing gait recovery.
