Abstract:The structure of the title compound, catena-poly[[[diaquacobalt(II)]-μ-oxydiacetato-κ4O,O′,O′′:O′′′)cobalt(II)] monohydrate], {[Co(C4H4O5)(H2O)2]·H2O}n, (I), was first determined and reported by Hatfield et al. [Proc. Indian Acad. Sci. Chem. Sci. (1987), 98, 23–31]. We present here a redetermination, with appreciably improved accuracy and successful location of H atoms. In the crystal structure, oxydiacetate plays the role of both chelating and bridging ligand, resulting in he formation of polymeric chains of complex molecules along the crystallographic b axis. Water molecules occupy the apical positions, thus completing the coordination octahedron of the CoII atom. The polymeric chains are interlinked via intermolecular hydrogen bonding between carboxylate and water molecules, forming the three-dimensional supramolecular structure.

The above article, published online on 1 October 2019 in Wiley Online Library (wileyonlinelibrary.com), has been retracted by agreement between the authors, the journal Editor-in-Chief, Anne C. Deveson, and Wiley-VCH GmbH, Weinheim. The retraction has been agreed following an investigation based on allegations raised by a third party and a request by the authors to retract. The authors stated that several flaws and inconsistencies between results presented and experimental methods described were found. In addition, the X-ray crystallography data were found to be compromised. Thus, the conclusions of the article are not considered reliable.

Abstract:In the title compound, {[Na(H2O)4]2(C4H2N2O7)} n , the 1,5-dihydr-oxy-4,8, 9-trioxa-2,6-diaza-bicyclo-[3.3.1]nona-2,6-diene-3,7-diolate anion lies across a twofold axis in the space group C2/c; there are two independent Na sites, one on a twofold axis and the other on a centre of inversion. Hydrogen bonds link the {[Na(H2O)4]+} n chains and diolate anions into a three-dimensional framework. © International Union of Crystallography 2007.

Abstract:The title compound, [Ni2(C3H2O 4)2(C4H4N2)(H 2O)2]n, has been prepared from the hydrothermal reaction of nickel(II) chloride, malonic acid and pyrazine. The NiII atoms are linked via coordinated malonates, forming a two-dimensional network with cavities of 6.14 × 5.60 Å. These sheet structures are further connected into a three-dimensional network by bridging pyrazine ligands which have inversion symmetry, the mean distance between the layers being 7.39 Å. The coordination geometry around the NiII atom is a tetragonally elongated octahedron, with pyrazine N and aqua O atoms at the apical positions. © 2005 International Union of Crystallography Printed in Great Britain - all rights reserved.
