Abstract:A highly regio- and stereoselective palladium(0)-catalyzed addition of organoboronic acids with 1,2-allenylphosphonates in the presence of HOAc forming tri- or tetrasubstituted 1(E)-alkenylphosphonates is reported in this paper. The stereoselectivity is much higher than the reported cases. The effects of different R(1), R(2), and R(3) were studied. A mechanism of this reaction is proposed on the basis of our previous study.

Abstract:Two sets of reaction conditions were established to enable the palladium(0)-catalyzed addition of organoboronic acids with 1.2-allenic sulfones, sulfoxides, or alkyl- or aryl-substituted allenes in the presence of acetic acid. This reaction provides a new way for the stereoselective synthesis of tri- or tetrasubstituted E-alkenes. With arylboronic acids, the reactions of 1,2-allenic sulfones, sulfoxides, and alkyl-substituted allenes gave only 1-12% of specific regoisomers; the reactions of aryl-substituted allenes afforded only E-alkenes in very high regioselectivity.

Abstract:We herein describe a synergistic chiral primary amine/achiral palladium catalyzed enantioselective terminal addition to allenes with alpha-branched,beta-ketocarbonyls and aldehydes. The reactions afford allylic adducts bearing acyclic all-carbon quaternary centers with high regio- and enantioselectivity. A wide range of allenes including those aliphatic or 1,1'-disubstituted could be employed, thus expanding the scope of typical asymmetric allylic alkylation reactions.

Abstract:A catalytic enantioselective conjugate addition with commercially available allenylboronic acid pinacol ester as nucleophile promoted by a chiral copper complex of N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) is disclosed. This process constitutes an unprecedented instance of the conjugate addition that introduces an allenyl group into α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds, affording products that are otherwise difficult to access in up to 92% yield, >98% allenyl addition selectivity and 96:4 enantiomeric ratio. DFT calculations were performed to elucidate the origins of enantioselectivity.

Abstract:Organoboronic acids enjoy high prestige in the metal-Catalyzed C-C bond formation. The cross-coupling reaction of organoboron compound has been proved to be a quite general technique for a wide range of selective C-C bond fort-nation. In the past few years, much attention has been paid to the transition metal-catalyzed addition of organoboronic acids to unsaturated C-C bond, aldehydes and N-sulfonyl imines. The most notable progress is they active 1,4-addition product effectively. In development of the asymmetric addition affording the corresponding optically this paper, we will summarize the most recent progress in the Rh-, Ni- and Pd-catalyzed 1, 4- or 1, 2-additions of organoboronic acids.

Abstract:Herein, we report a palladium‐catalyzed three‐component reaction of 2‐alkynyl‐1,4‐diol dicarbonates, organoboronic acids, and nitrogen nucleophiles forming 2,3‐allenyl amines. The reaction shows an excellent regio‐ and chemoselectivity and a broad substrate scope. The mechanistic experiments demonstrate an unique β‐O elimilation pathway generating 1,2,3‐triene intermediate. Comprehensive Summary 2,3‐Allenyl amines have shown wide applicability in biomedical and synthetic applications. Due to their enormous potential for applications, researchers have been dedicated to the development of methods for synthesizing 2,3‐allenyl amines. Herein, a palladium‐catalyzed three‐component reaction of 2‐alkynyl‐1,4‐diol dicarbonates, organoboronic acids, and nitrogen nucleophiles forming 2,3‐allenyl amines with excellent regio‐ and chemo‐selectivity has been developed. Substrate compatibility and synthetic applications have been demonstrated. Control experiments supported a mechanism involving 1,2,3‐triene‐Pd species and methylene‐π‐allyl palladium species.

Abstract:Functionalization of the C(sp3 )-H bonds of trialkylamines is challenging, especially for reactions at positions other than the α position. Herein, we report a method for β-C(sp3 )-H allylation of trialkylamines. In these reactions, which involve synergistic borane/palladium catalysis, an enamine intermediate is first generated from the amine via α,β-dehydrogenation promoted by B(C6 F5 )3 and a base, and then the enamine undergoes palladium-catalyzed reaction with an allene to give the allylation product. Because the hydride and the proton resulting from the initial dehydrogenation are ultimately shuttled to the product by B(C6 F5 )3 and the palladium catalyst, respectively, these reactions show excellent atom economy. The establishment of this method paves the way for future studies of C-H functionalization of trialkylamines by means of synergistic borane/transition-metal catalysis.

Abstract:Hydroboration of allenes is powerful and atom-economic approach to the synthesis of organoboranes, such as the highly versatile allylboranes. However, regarding regiocontrol, existing methods uniformly deliver the boron functionality to the less hindered β- or γ-position, but not the α-position. The latter is particularly challenging for allenes with substantial steric difference between the two terminals and lacking electronic bias (e.g., 1,1-disubstituted allenes). Herein we report the first highly efficient ruthenium-catalyzed hydroboration of allenes featuring exclusive α-regioselectivity, providing access to sterically hindered allyl boranes that are limitedly accessible by conventional methods. DFT studies suggested that the unusual α-regioselectivity is attributed to the disfavored reductive elimination at the γ-position due to the high energy cost required to overcome the agnostic interaction and rotation of the key π-allyl intermediates. This protocol is also applicable to the previously unprecedented α-hydroalkynylation and underdeveloped α-hydrosilylation of allenes, thus complementing known catalytic systems and providing convenient access to highly congested yet densely-functionalized allyl silanes and skipped enynes bearing a fully-substituted allylic carbon center. It is expected that this ruthenium-catalyzed system can serve as a new platform for the development of other hydrofunctionalization processes with unorthodox selectivity.

Abstract:A general and efficient palladium-catalyzed coupling of propargylic carbonates with organoboronic acids has been developed by identifying a commercially available semi-labile bidentated o-(diphenylphosphino) benzaldehyde as the effective ligand affording allenes under a set of very mild reaction conditions. Many functional groups are tolerated in this reaction, and high chirality transfer has also been realized in the presence of water leading to a very rapid reaction for the synthesis of easily racemized 1,3-diarylallenes. A rationale has been proposed to demonstrate the role of the ligand.
