Abstract:A generalized Kummer surface $X$ of order $3$ is the minimal resolution of the quotient of an abelian surface $A$ by an order $3$ symplectic automorphism. We study a generalization of a problem of Shioda for classical Kummer surfaces, which is to understand how much $X$ is determined by $A$ and conversely. The surface $X$ posses a big and nef divisor $L_{X}$ such that $L_{X}^{2}=0$ or $2$ mod $6$. We show that for surfaces with $L_{X}^{2}=6k$ with $k\neq0,6\,mod\,9$, the surface $X$ determines the transcendental lattice $T(A)$ of $A$ and the Hodge structure on $T(A)$. Conversely if $A$ and $B$ are Fourier-Mukai partners (i.e. if the Hodge structures of their transcendental lattices are isomorphic) and $Y$ is the generalized Kummer surface which is the minimal resolution of the quotient of $B$ by an order $3$ symplectic automorphism, we obtain that $X$ and $Y$ are isomorphic. These results are also know to hold for surfaces with $L_{X}^{2}=2\,mod\,6$ from a previous work. When $k=0\text{ or }6\,mod\,9,$ we show that $X$ determines $T(A)$ and its Hodge structure, but the converse does not hold in general.

Abstract:We study isogeny relations between K3 surfaces and Kummer surfaces. Specifically, we prove a Torelli-type theorem for the existence of rational maps from K3 surfaces to Kummer surfaces, and a Kummer sandwich theorem for K3 surfaces with Shioda-Inose structure.

Abstract:A generalized Kummer surface $X=Km_{3}(A,G_{A})$ is the minimal resolution of the quotient of a $2$-dimensional complex torus by an order 3 symplectic automorphism group $G_{A}$. A Kummer structure on $X$ is an isomorphism class of pairs $(B,G_{B})$ such that $X\simeq Km_{3}(B,G_{B})$. When the surface is algebraic, we obtain that the number of Kummer structures is linked with the number of order $3$ elliptic points on some Shimura curve naturally related to $A$. For each $n\in\mathbb{N}$, we obtain generalized Kummer surfaces $X_{n}$ for which the number of Kummer structures is $2^{n}$. We then give a classification of the moduli spaces of generalized Kummer surfaces. When the surface is non algebraic, there is only one Kummer structure, but the number of irreducible components of the moduli spaces of such surfaces is large compared to the algebraic case. The endomorphism rings of the complex $2$-tori we study are mainly quaternion orders, these order contain the ring of Eisenstein integers. One can also see this paper as a study of quaternion orders $\mathcal{O}$ over $\mathbb{Q}$ that contain the ring of Eisenstein integers. We obtain that such order is determined up to isomorphism by its discriminant, and when the quaternion algebra is indefinite, the order $\mathcal{O}$ is principal.

Abstract:In terms of the almost complex connection and the unitary moving frame, a complex version on the theory of the nearly Kahler structure in S-6 is given. Under this framework, minimal surfaces in the nearly Kahler S-6 are studied. A complete classification for complete minimal surfaces in S-6 With constant Kahler angle and nonnegative curvature is given. Moreover, almost complex curves in S-6 are considered.

Abstract:The 1950s belong to one of the most glorious decades for geometry and topology.A group of young mathematicians established a wealth of great theorems, made ground breaking discoveries, and created a new era in mathematics.These men leave their names in the history of mathematics.Hodge theory was just completed by Weyl and Kodaira in 1941.By exploiting the Chern characteristic classes introduced by Shiing-Shen Chern, Hirzebruch proved the signature theorem and the Hirzebruch-Riemann-Roch theorem in algebraic geometry in 1956.The engineer-turn-mathematician Bott proved the periodicity theorem on homotopy groups.These results would soon inspire Atiyah and Singer to prove their index theorem.Serre calculated the homotopy groups of spheres in algebraic topology using Leray spectral sequence, wrote the famous GAGA in algebraic geometry using sheaf theory, and systematically introduced complex analysis to algebraic geometry.Kodaira proved his famous embedding theorem, and developed deformation theory of complex manifolds.Later, Milnor found the first exotic sphere in dimension 7 and Nash proved his isometric embedding theorem for Riemannian manifolds.These great results are like stars shining in the sky.On Amsterdam's 1954 International Congress of Mathematicians, Kodaira and Serre were awarded Fields medals.Both of their works merged complex analysis, differential geometry and algebraic geometry in a miraculous fashion.As Weyl said in his famous encomium: "You reached heights of which I never dreamt… It shows that the old gnarled tree of mathematics is still full of sap and life."On the very occasion, Eugenio Calabi, a 31-year-old Italian-American mathematician, wrote down his famous conjecture on a sheet of paper during his talk, "For any (1,1)-form R in the first Chern class of a compact Kähler manifold, there exists a unique Kähler metric whose Ricci form is equal to R." Abstract:We prove that any hyper-Kähler sixfold $K$ of generalized Kummer type has a naturally associated manifold $Y_K$ of $\mathrm{K}3^{[3]}$-type. It is obtained as crepant resolution of the quotient of $K$ by a group of symplectic involutions acting trivially on its second cohomology. When $K$ is projective, the variety $Y_K$ is birational to a moduli space of stable sheaves on a uniquely determined projective~$\mathrm{K}3$ surface~$S_K$. As application of this construction we show that the Kuga-Satake correspondence is algebraic for the K3 surfaces $S_K$, producing infinitely many new families of $\mathrm{K}3$ surfaces of general Picard rank $16$ satisfying the Kuga-Satake Hodge conjecture.

Abstract:We introduce an inseparable version of Kummer surfaces. It is defined as a supersingular K3 surface in characteristic 2 with 16 smooth rational curves forming a certain configuration and satisfying a suitable divisibility condition. The main result is that such a surface admits an inseparable double covering by a non-normal surface $A$ that is similar to abelian surfaces in two aspects: its numerical invariants are the same as abelian surfaces, and its smooth locus admits an abelian group structure.

Abstract:We continue our study on the hypergeometric system which describes period integrals of the double cover family of K3 surfaces. Near certain special boundary points in the moduli space of the K3 surfaces, we construct the local solutions and determine the so-called mirror maps expressing them in terms of genus two theta functions. These mirror maps are the K3 analogues of the elliptic -function. We find that there are two non-isomorphic definitions of the lambda functions corresponding to a flip in the moduli space. We also discuss mirror symmetry for the double cover K3 surfaces and their higher dimensional generalizations. A follow up paper will describe more details of the latter.

Abstract:We exhibit families of Ricci-flat Kahler metrics on K3 surfaces which collapse to an interval, with Tian-Yau and Taub-NUT metrics occurring as bubbles. There is a corresponding continuous surjective map from the K3 surface to the interval, with regular fibers diffeomorphic to either 3-tori or Heisenberg nilmanifolds.

Abstract:From the viewpoint of mirror symmetry, we revisit the hypergeometric system for a family of K3 surfaces. We construct a good resolution of the Baily-Borel-Satake compactification of its parameter space, which admits special boundary points (LCSLs) given by normal crossing divisors. We find local isomorphisms between the systems and the associated GKZ systems defined locally on the parameter space and cover the entire parameter space. Parallel structures are conjectured in general for hypergeometric system on Grassmannians. Local solutions and mirror symmetry will be described in a companion paper\cite {HLTYpartII}, where we introduce a K3 analogue of the elliptic lambda function in terms of genus two theta functions.

Abstract:Let $X\subset ¶^5$ be a smooth cubic fourfold. A well known conjecture asserts that $X$ is rational if and only if there an Hodge theoretically associated K3 surface $S$. The surface $S$ can be associated to $X$ in two other different ways. If there is an equivalence of categories $\sA_X \simeq D^b(S,\alpha)$ where $\sA_X$ is the Kuznetsov component of $D^b(X)$ and $\alpha$ is a Brauer class, or if there is an isomorphism between the transcendental motive $t(X)$ and the (twisted ) transcendental motive of a K3 surface$S$. In this note we consider families of cubic fourfolds with a finite group of automorphisms and describe the cases where there is an associated K3 surface in one of the above senses.

Abstract:We develop a new method for constructing K3 surfaces. We construct such a K3 surface $X$ by patching two open complex surfaces obtained as the complements of tubular neighborhoods of elliptic curves embedded in blow-ups of the projective planes at general nine points. Our construction has $19$ complex dimensional degrees of freedom. For general parameters, the K3 surface $X$ is neither Kummer nor projective. By the argument based on the concrete computation of the period map, we also investigate which points in the period domain correspond to K3 surfaces obtained by such construction.
