DESCRIPTIONS OF TWO NEW SPECIES OF ONCOPSIS BURMEISTER (HEMIPTERA, CICADELLIDAE, MACROPSINAE) FROM CHINA

Abstract:In this paper, two new species of the leafhopper genus Oncopsis Burmeister, 1838 (Hemiptera, Cicadellidae, Macropsinae), O. anchorous sp. nov. (China: Sichuan) and O. nigrofasciatus sp. nov. (China: Qinghai) are described and illustrated. The type specimens of the new species are deposited in the Institute of Entomology, Guizhou University, Guiyang, China.1 Oncopsis anchorous sp. nov. (Figs.1-8)Body length (incl. tegm.): ♂ 5.1mm, ♀ 4.9mm.General colour ochraceous. Crown yellow brown with blackish puncture in the middle (Fig.1). Face dark fuscous, with blackish puncture in basal discal area, frontoclypeus with a large black anchor-shaped macula (Fig.2). Pronotum brown with lateral areas dark ochraceous, smooth and not punctate, posterior half scattered with blackish puncture between transverse striae (Fig.2). Scutellum yellow with two black spots beyond middle line above transverse notch, basal triangles black, discal area with dark puncture. In general appearance and color pattern, this species resembles O. fumosa Kuoh, 1992 from Yunnan, China, but can be distinguished from the latter by: 1) frontoclypeus with a large, black, anchor-shaped macula (Fig.2); 2) connective with a long digitate process in the middle of the two lateral arms at base (Fig.6); and 3) the distinctly different shape of the dorsal connective (Fig.7).Holotype ♂, China, Sichuan Province, Mt. Emei (29.62°N, 103.5°E), 16 July 1995, collected by YANG Mao-Fa. Paratypes: 1♂, 1♀, same data as holotype.2 Oncopsis nigrofasciatus sp. nov. (Figs.9-16) Body length (incl. tegm.): ♂ 4.0mm, ♀ 3.9mm.General colour yellow brown. Crown pale yellow with a dark transverse fascia in the middle, lateral area with a black macula near eyes. (Fig.9). Face yellowish with a black spot below margin of ocellus and a black transverse band between eyes. (Fig.10). Pronotum yellowish brown with black spots as shown in Fig.9.Scutellum dark brown with basal triangules black. Forewings pale brown, hyaline. Veins brown, apex of clavus-vein, base of M-cell, anteapical cell and apical cells 1, 2 and 3, with a smoky-brown macula. This species is closely related to O. testacea Kuoh from Guizhou, China, but can be distinguished from the latter by: 1) lorum covered by postclypeus (Fig.10); and 2) the postclypeus with a pallid-brown fascia in apical area (Fig.10).Holotype ♂, China, Qinghai Province, Huangyuan (36.72°N, 101.28°E), 26 Aug. 1997, collected LI Zi-Zhong. Paratypes: 1♂, 5♀♀, same data as holotype.
