Abstract:A simple, air-stable, inexpensive and easily prepared molecule, N-methyliminodiacetic acid (MIDA), is reported as a ligand for palladium-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction of phenylboronic acid with aryl chlorides. The yield of the corresponding Suzuki coupling reaction is up to around 90% at both high temperature of 80 degrees C and room temperature under ambient atmosphere. Abstract:The development of catalytic systems that can activate aryl chlorides for palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions is at the forefront of ongoing efforts to synthesize fine chemicals. In this study, a facile ligand-template approach is adopted to achieve active-site encapsulation by forming supramolecular assemblies; this bestowed the pristine inert counterparts with reactivity, which is further increased upon the construction of a porous framework. Experimental results indicated that the isolation of ligands by the surrounding template units is key to the formation of catalytically active monoligated palladium complexes. Additionally, the construction of porous frameworks using the resulting supramolecular assemblies prevented the decomposition of the Pd complexes into nanoparticles, which drastically increased the catalyst lifetime. These findings, along with the simplicity and generality of the synthesis scheme, suggest that the strategy can be leveraged to achieve unique reactivity and potentially enable fine-chemical synthesis.

Abstract:We prepared a highly ordered mesoporous polymer‐supported diarylphosphine ligand by simple substitution reaction. By utilizing this ligand, we successfully achieved the Suzuki‐Miyaura cross‐coupling of various aryl chlorides at room temperature with high yields. Also, we extended our investigation to the use of a macroporous polymer support in a similar way, which yielded effective Suzuki‐Miyaura cross‐coupling reactions of both aryl chlorides and hindered aryl bromides.

Abstract:Pentaphenylferrocenyl di-tert-butylphosphine has been prepared in high yield from a two-step synthetic procedure, and the scope of various cross-coupling processes catalyzed by complexes bearing this ligand has been investigated. This ligand creates a remarkably general palladium catalyst for aryl halide amination and for Suzuki coupling. Turnovers of roughly 1000 were observed for aminations with unactivated aryl bromides or chlorides. In addition, complexes of this ligand catalyzed the formation of selected aryl ethers under mild conditions. The reactions encompassed electron-rich and electron-poor aryl bromides and chlorides. In the presence of catalysts containing this ligand, these aryl halides coupled with acyclic or cyclic secondary alkyl- and arylamines, with primary alkyl- and arylamines, and with aryl- and primary alkylboronic acids. These last couplings provide the first general procedure for reaction of terminal alkylboronic acids with aryl halides without toxic or expensive bases. The ligand not only generates highly active palladium catalysts, but it is air stable in solution and in the solid state. Palladium(0) complexes of this ligand are also air stable as a solid and react only slowly with oxygen in solution.

Abstract:Transition-metal-catalyzed cross-coupling of arenes bearing two or more potential coupling sites is often challenging because of the chemoselectivity issue. If orthogonal cross-couplings were applicable, one can develop a synthetically useful approach for consecutive functionalization of the starting arenes compounds. We herein reported a Suzuki-Miyaura coupling of triazenyl-substituted aryl bromides catalyzed by PdCl2(PCy3)2/PPh3 under basic conditions. The resultant polyfunctionalized aryl triazenes could undergo Suzuki-Miyaura couplings under acidic conditions or be converted to many other functionalized arenes. This orthogonal coupling strategy allows for a sequential functionalization of arenes with same type of nucleophilic reagents toward the synthesis of diverse biaryls and teraryls.

Abstract:Through the substitution reaction of hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene (HCCP) and 4,4′-diaminobiphenyl (DABP), a crosslinked polymer HCCP-DABP was synthesized by a conventional and convenient route. Owing to the strong coordination ability of pincer-type bis(amino) scaffold in the matrix, the polymer was successfully used as a support to form stable palladium catalyst complex Pd/HCCP-DABP. The palladium catalyst showed excellent reactivity in Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction. In addition, the catalyst can be readily recovered and reused for further transformations at least 10 times without significant decrease in catalytic activity.

Abstract:A facile and readily available Fe-ppm-Pd/C catalyst has been developed for catalyzing Suzuki-Miyaura cross- coupling reactions. When combined with dicyclohexyl(2 ',6 '-dimethoxy-[1,1 '-biphenyl]-2-yl) phosphine (SPhos), this catalyst, with low levels of palladium (as low as 180 ppm), efficiently facilitates cross-coupling reactions between aryl boronic acids (or aryl neopentyl-1,3-diol boronic ester) and a wide range of aryl halides, including inactivated aryl chlorides. Additionally, the recovered Fe-ppm-Pd/C catalyst has demonstrated sustained catalytic activity over four runs, indicating minimal decline in performance. This suggests the catalyst's potential for long-term use and its practicality in industrial applications.

Abstract:Bearing the merits of convenient functionalization and versatile framework composition, hypercrosslinked polymers are employed as promising candidates in green catalysis. In this study, a new hypercrosslinked polymer supported palladium catalyst has been synthesized based on pyrrole functionalization from triphenyl benzene and pyrrole via Scholl reaction and palladium anchoring on the polymer surface. The structure of prepared Pd catalyst was confirmed by TEM, SEM, EDX, XRD, N2 adsorption–desorption, solid state 13C NMR, TGA, FT-IR, XPS, and ICP analyses. The novel complex can be served as an effective catalyst for the preparation of biphenyl compounds with the yields up to 100 % in EtOH: H2O (1:1) at 60 °C by using 0.07 mol% of catalyst in air. More importantly, the catalyst also has significant advantages in terms of facile availability of raw materials, chemical and thermal stability, and cost-effective synthesis. Due to the high specific surface area, and the coordination of pyrrole groups with palladium on the surface of this polymer, this catalyst could effectively prevent palladium leaching (<1.1 %). Furthermore, the catalyst could be recovered by simple centrifugation for four consecutive times. The study provides new insight into the immobilization of palladium on such polymer surface in other heterogeneous catalysis systems.

Abstract:A novel PdCl2/bis(2-pyridylmethyl)amine-based ligand (1) catalytic system, which is water-soluble and air-stable, has been successfully synthesized and applied for Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction. In the presence of catalytic amount of PdCl2/1 system, arylboronic acids can couple with a wide range of aryl halides, including aryl bromides and aryl chlorides. Abstract:Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling (SMC) reaction by palladium (Pd) catalysis is widely used in cross-coupling chemistry synthesis for C-C bond formation, yet the biaryl products are generally lacking halo substituents due to highly active palladium species. Suitable catalysts according to this property for the regionselective SMC synthesis of biaryl derivatives with halo substituents did not receive due and sufficient attention. Here, we report the facile synthesis of a covalent organic frameworks (COFs)supported nanoparticles Pd catalyst that can region-selectively catalyze the SMC reaction of aryl boronic acids and aryl halides, especially with halogenated aryl boronic acids. The methodology exhibits mild operating conditions, broad functional group tolerance, and environmental friendliness and can be strategically applied for cross-coupling scenarios governed by sequential transition metal catalysts to build with or without a halo-substituted moiety. The Pd/COF-SMC nanoparticles catalysts are stable and reusable and succeed in synthesizing halo-substituted biaryl products in excellent yield, which avoids the homocoupling of halogenated aryl boronic acid. The most outstanding advantage is the precise regulation of nanoparticles Pd activity with the well-designed COF ligand.

Abstract:A new series of xylyl-linked bis-benzimidazolium salts were efficiently prepared using a simple preparation method from bis-benzimidazolium precursors featuring highly tunable linkers and wingtips. A highly efficient Suzuki–Miyaura cross-coupling reaction of aryl chlorides within the range of 0.5–2.0 mol% Pd-catalyst loading was observed. Also, di-ortho-substituted biaryl synthesis was achieved.
