Abstract:An enantioselective one-pot Michael/Michael/Henry/hemiacetalization reaction between alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehydes, alpha-ketoamides, and nitroalkenes under mild conditions catalyzed by a diarylprolinol silyl ether has been developed. The sequential methodology provides a direct approach to a wide range of fully substituted chiral oxabicyclo[2.2.2]octanes with seven contiguous stereocenters in moderate to excellent yields (up to 99%), high to excellent diastereoselectivities (up to >25:1 dr), and high to excellent enantioselectivities (up to 99% ee).

Abstract:We describe herein an intriguing method for the synthesis of biaryl aldehydes bearing both axial and central chirality through a desymmetric [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction of activated isocyanides with prochiral biaryl dialdehydes under silver catalysis. This protocol features excellent enantioselectivity, 100% atom economy, good functional group compatibility, and operational simplicity.

Abstract:Self-assembled catalyst: A new kind of chiral supramolecular organocatalyst, self-assembled from chiral amines and poly(alkene glycol)s, was developed. The resulting self-assemblies were found to be highly efficient in the asymmetric catalysis of the unusual Diels–Alder reaction between cyclohexenones and nitrodienes, nitroenynes or nitroolefins, giving excellent chemo-, regio- and enantioselectivities (see scheme). Abstract:Herein,an organocatalytic enantioselective desymmetrizing hydroalkoxylationof 1,4- and 1,8-diynes is disclosed, which represents a unique chiralBronsted acid-catalyzed desymmetrization of diynes. This protocolprovides a facile and practical access to enantioenriched 1,3-diaminopropanolderivatives and & gamma;-butyrolactones with a wide substrate scopeand generally high enantioselectivities. Besides, the backbones ofthese products constitute the structural core of numerous bioactivemolecules, and they can serve as valuable precursors for the expeditiousassembly of versatile N- and O-heterocycles. Moreover, control experimentsand theoretical calculations are employed to confirm the mechanisticrationale and elucidate the origin of enantioinduction.

Abstract:Kinetic resolution of 6-aryl-2,6-hexanediones was achieved with chiral secondary amine catalyzed intramolecular aldolization. The current kinetic resolution protocol enables the synthesis of both enantiomers of cyclohexenones with moderate to good enantioselectivity.
