Abstract:A novel efficient procedure has been developed for the conjugate addition of amines to electron deficient alkenes. A series of metal oxides was synthesized for catalyzing the conjugate addition of amines and alkenes. After optimizing the reaction conditions, SrO was chosen as the most efficient catalyst for the reactions. The results show that the catalyst is very efficient for the conjugate addition of amines to electron deficient alkenes with the excellent yields in several minutes. Operational simplicity.. without need of any solvent, low cost of the catalyst used, high yields, reusability, excellent chemoselectivity and applicability to large-scale reactions are the key features of this meth odology.

Abstract:The Baylis-Hillman reaction of cyclic enones was greatly accelerated in basic water solution with imidazoles as catalysts, which resulted in short reaction time, high yields, and expanding substrate scopes. Bicarbonate solution was shown to be the optimal reaction medium for the reaction in this study. The apparent "enhanced basicity" of imidazoles accounted for the rate increase in alkaline solution.

Abstract:A novel phosphine-catalyzed asymmetric aza-Morita–Baylis–Hillman reaction of endocyclic ketimines with vinyl ketone or acrolein has been presented. This approach resulted in densely functionalized adducts with moderate to high yields and enantioselectivities (up to 97% yield, up to 97% ee), with the feature of a C2 tetra -substituted chiral center on a 3-oxindole scaffold. A wide variety of substrates were compatible with this methodology, and diverse enantiomeric products could be obtained through a catalyst switching strategy. A series of transformations further demonstrated the utility of this methodology.

Abstract:An intermolecular Morita Baylis Hillman (MBH) reaction of alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones with allylic acetates under the catalysis of 10 mol % of tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(0) and mediation of tributylphosphine has been developed in the presence of acetic acid, affording the desired a-coupling products. The MBH reaction has the advantages of good tolerance to many functional groups, excellent regioselectivity and,E-stereoselectivity, and moderate to good yields.

Abstract:A highly efficient procedure has been developed for the conjugate addition of amines to electron deficient alkenes. The novel ionic liquid [HO3S-bPy][FeCl4] with both Lewis and Brønsted acid sites has been synthesized successfully for the reactions. The results show that the catalyst was very efficient for the conjugate addition of amines to electron deficient alkenes with excellent yields in several minutes. This method has several key features including operational simplicity, no need of any solvent, low cost of the catalyst used, high yields, reusability, excellent chemoselectivity, and wide applicability.

Abstract:In this review, we summarize some of the most recent advances in the construction of cyclic compounds from the annulation of Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) adducts, which have demonstrated their importance by possessing diverse functional groups. Significant examples including [3 + 2], [3 + 3], [3 + 4] and other cyclizations described herein with MBH adducts were proven to be efficient approaches for the preparation of diverse cyclic structure motifs. However, most of the reported strategies are based on the use of non-chiral catalysts/ligands, whilst stereoselective reactions remain largely unexplored. This area is still in its infancy and future research on MBH adducts will definitely benefit the organic chemistry community, especially for the synthesis of drug candidates and other molecules that might draw attention to materials sciences.

Abstract:Photoinduced acylmethyl radical procedures for the efficent and simple preparation of highly functionalized 1,5-dicarbonyl compounds from Morita-Baylis-Hillman acetates with a-bromo ketones are developed. The acylmethylation is carried out with rose bengal as an organophotocatalyst at room temperature under metal- and oxidant-free conditions. Particularly, the simple photoinduced bromoacylmethylation was exploited via a fac-Ir(ppy)3-catalyzed atom transfer radical addition (ATRA) strategy under visible light irradiation. This method are attractive and valuable due to its mild reaction conditions, broad substrate scope and good functional group tolerance.

Abstract:Introduction: The Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) reaction is an important method for forming carbon-carbon bonds between carbonyl-containing compounds and activated olefins. However, the slow reaction rate with electron-rich electrophilic partners has limited its wider use. To overcome this drawback, the effects of pyridinium-based ionic liquids mediated quinuclidine catalytic system for MBH reactions were studied. Method: The method is simple, involving neat and open-flask conditions, and is compatible with a wide range of reagents. We offered general pyridinium-based ionic liquids-mediated quinuclidine catalysis mechanism that is responsible for the observed rate increase. The synthetic versatility of the MBH adducts is demonstrated by the synthesis of important building blocks for the natural product (-)-sitophilure. The authors anticipate that this pyridinium-based ionic liquids-mediated quinuclidine protocol could serve as a general methodology for the MBH reaction. Result: In summary, the study presents a simple and effective method to enhance the reaction rate of the MBH reaction. The authors believe this method has the potential for broader applications and may contribute to developing new synthetic strategies for organic synthesis. Conclusion: We successfully recycled the catalytic system up to 7 runs without losing any catalytic activity.
