Cost-benefit Analysis of Neonatal Screening Project

Abstract:We calculated the cost and benefit of neonatal screening in the way of health economic evaluation methods.In 2007,the cost of neonatal screening in China was 1.07 billion yuan,the benefit was 7.38 billion yuan.So the net benefit was 6.3 billion yuan,and the benefit-cost ratio was 1:6.90.Therefore,the coverage of neonatal screening should be expanded and the payment mechanism of the project should be improved because of the huge economic benefit of the project.
