Abstract:We show that each positive map from B(K) to B(H) with K and H finite dimensional Hilbert spaces is a scalar multiple of a map of the form $Tr - \psi$ with $\psi$ completely positive. This is used to give necessary and sufficient conditions for maps to be C-positive for a large class of mapping cones; in particular we apply the results to k-positive maps.

Abstract:We characterize a nonlinear full invariant of compact Banach-space maps: Let ( X , ‖.‖) and ( Y , ‖.‖) be two Banach spaces and P C ( X , Y ) be all compact maps which map ( X , ‖.‖) to ( Y , ‖.‖). Abstract:Let λ and μ be sequence spaces and have both the signed-weak gliding hump property, (λ, μ) the algebra of the infinite matrix operators which transform λ into μ. In this paper, it is proved that if λ and μ are β-spaces and λ β and μ β have also the signed-weak gliding hump property, then for any polar topology τ, ((λ, μ), τ) is always sequentially complete locally convex topological algebra.

Abstract:A linear map between matrix spaces is positive if it maps positive semidefinite matrices to positive semidefinite ones, and is called completely positive if all its ampliations are positive. In this article quantitative bounds on the fraction of positive maps that are completely positive are proved. A main tool are real algebraic geometry techniques developed by Blekherman to study the gap between positive polynomials and sums of squares. Finally, an algorithm to produce positive maps which are not completely positive is given.

Abstract:The theory of positive maps plays a central role in operator algebras and functional analysis and has countless applications in quantum information science. The theory was originally developed for operators acting on complex Hilbert spaces and less is known about its variant on real Hilbert spaces. In this article, we study positive maps acting on a full matrix algebra over the reals, pointing out a number of fundamental differences with the complex case and discussing their implications in quantum information. We provide a necessary and sufficient condition for a real map to admit a positive complexification and connect the existence of positive maps with non-positive complexification with the existence of mixed states that are entangled in real Hilbert space quantum mechanics, but separable in the complex version, providing explicit examples both for the maps and for the states. Finally, we discuss entanglement breaking and PPT maps, and we show that a straightforward real version of the PPT-squared conjecture is false even in dimension 2. Nevertheless, we show that the original PPT-squared conjecture implies a different conjecture for real maps, in which the PPT property is replaced by a stronger property of invariance under partial transposition (IPT). When the IPT property is assumed, we prove an asymptotic version of the conjecture.

Abstract:In solar interior, it is the equilibrium velocity distribution of few high-energy protons and nuclei that participates in determining nuclear fusion reaction rates. So, it is inappropriate to use the Maxwellian velocity distribution to calculate the rates of solar nuclear fusion reactions. We have to use the relativistic equilibrium velocity distribution for the purpose. The nuclear fusion reaction rate based on the relativistic equilibrium velocity distribution has a reduction factor with respect to that based on the Maxwellian distribution. The reduction factor depends on the temperature, reduced mass and atomic numbers of the studied nuclear fusion reactions, in other words, it varies with the sort of neutrinos. Substituting the relativistic equilibrium velocity distribution for the Maxwellian distribution is not important for the calculation of solar sound speeds. The relativistic equilibrium velocity distribution, if adopted in standard solar models, will lower solar neutrino fluxes and change solar neutrino energy spectra but maintain solar sound speeds. This velocity distribution is possibly a solution to the solar neutrino problem.

Abstract:We study several classes of general non-linear positive maps between C*-algebras, which are not necessary completely positive maps. We characterize the class of the compositions of *-multiplicative maps and positive linear mapsas the class of non-linear maps of boundedly positive type abstractly. We consider three classes of non-linear positive maps defined only on the positive cones, which are the classes of being monotone, supercongruent or concave. Any concave maps are monotone. The intersection of the monotone maps and the supercongruent maps characterizes the class of monotone Borel functional calculus. We give many examples of non-linear positive maps, which show that there exist no other relations among these three classes in general.

Abstract:A proof using the theory of completely positive maps is given to the fact that if $A \in M_2$, or $A \in M_3$ has a reducing eigenvalue, then every bounded linear operator $B$ with $W(B) \subseteq W(A)$ has a dilation of the form $I \otimes A$. This gives a unified treatment for the different cases of the result obtained by researchers using different techniques.

Abstract:We prove that a unital completely positive map between finite-dimensional C*-algebras is a homomorphism if and only if it is completely entropy-nonincreasing, where the relevant notion of entropy is a variant of von Neumann entropy. As an intermediate step, we prove that a unital completely positive map between finite-dimensional C*-algebras is a homomorphism if and only if its adjusted Choi operator is a projection. Both equivalences generalize familiar facts about stochastic maps between finite sets.

Abstract:A dynamical map is a map which takes one density operator to another. Such a map can be written in an operator-sum representation (OSR) using a spectral decomposition. The method of the construction applies to more general maps which need not be completely positive. The OSR not unique; there is a freedom to choose the set of operators in the OSR differently, yet still obtain the same map. Here we identify all maps which are equivalent to a given map. Whereas the freedom for completely positive maps is unitary, the freedom for maps which are not necessarily completely positive is pseudo-unitary.

Abstract:In this paper, we begin by presenting a construction for induced representations of Hilbert modules over pro-$C^*$-algebras for a given continuous $^*$-morphism between pro-$C^*$-algebras. Subsequently, we describe the structure of completely positive maps between two pro-$C^*$-algebras using Paschke's GNS construction for CP-maps on pro-$C^*$-algebras. Furthermore, through our construction, we establish a structure theorem for a $\phi-$map between two Hilbert modules over pro-$C^*$-algebras, where $\phi$ is a continuous CP-map between pro-$C^*$-algebras. We also discuss the minimality of these representations.

We then give a preorder relation in the collection of all completely positive maps between Hilbert modules over pro-C*-algebras and obtain a Radon-Nikodým type theorem.

Abstract:We characterise absolutely dilatable completely positive maps on the space of all bounded operators on a Hilbert space that are also bimodular over a given von Neumann algebra as rotations by a suitable unitary on a larger Hilbert space followed by slicing along the trace of an additional ancilla. We define the local, quantum and approximately quantum types of absolutely dilatable maps, according to the type of the admissible ancilla. We show that the local absolutely dilatable maps admit an exact factorisation through an abelian ancilla and show that they are limits in the point weak* topology of conjugations by unitaries in the commutant of the given von Neumann algebra. We show that the Connes Embedding Problem is equivalent to deciding if all absolutely dilatable maps are approximately quantum.

Abstract:Let A and B be unital C*-algebras, and let J ∈ A, L ∈B be Hermitian invertible elements. For every T ∈ A and S ∈ B, define Tj+ = J-1T*J and S+L = L-1S*L. Then in such a way we endow the C*-algebras A and B with indefinite structures. We characterize firstly the Jordan (J, L)-+-homomorphisms on C*-algebras. As applications, we further classify the bounded linear maps Φ: A →B preserving (J, L)-unitary elements. Abstract:For a class of linear maps on a von Neumann factor, we associate two objects, bounded operators and trace class operators, both of which play the roles of Choi matrices. Each of them is positive if and only if the original map on the factor is completely positive. They are also useful to characterize positivity of maps as well as complete positivity. It turns out that such correspondences are possible for every normal completely bounded map if and only if the factor is of type I. As an application, we provide criteria for Schmidt numbers of normal positive functionals in terms of Choi matrices of $k$-positive maps, in infinite dimensional cases. We also define the notion of $k$-superpositive maps, which turns out to be equivalent to the property of $k$-partially entanglement breaking.
