Abstract:Let χλ (cf (1.1)) be the unit spectral projection operator with respect to the Laplace-Beltrami operator ∆ on a closed Riemannian manifold M . We generalize the (L2, L∞) estimate of χλ by Hormander [3] to those of covariant derivatives of χλ Moreover we extend the (L2, Lp) estimates of χλ by Sogge [7] [8] to (L2, Sobolev Lp) estimates of χλ.

Abstract: Let $u$ be a smooth, strictly $k$-plurisubharmonic function on a bounded domain $\Omega\in\mathbb C^n$ with $2\leq k\leq n$. The purpose of this paper is to study the regularity of solution to the linearized complex Monge-Amp\`ere and Hessian equations when the complex $k$-Hessian $H_k[u]$ of $u$ is bounded from above and below. We first establish some estimates of Green's functions associated to the linearized equations. Then we prove a class of new Sobolev inequalities. With these inequalities, we use Moser's iteration to investigate the a priori estimates of Hessian equations and their linearized equations, as well as the K\"ahler scalar curvature equation. In particular, we obtain the Harnack inequality for the linearized complex Monge-Amp\`ere and Hessian equations under an extra integrability condition on the coefficients. The approach works in both real and complex case.
Restriction of Schrödinger eigenfunctions to submanifolds

Abstract:Burq-Gérard-Tzvetkov and Hu established $L^p$ estimates for the restriction of Laplace-Beltrami eigenfunctions to submanifolds. We investigate the eigenfunctions of the Schrödinger operators with critically singular potentials, and estimate the $L^p$ norms and period integrals for their restriction to submanifolds. Recently, Blair-Sire-Sogge obtained global $L^p$ bounds for Schrödinger eigenfunctions by the resolvent method. Due to the Sobolev trace inequalities, the resolvent method cannot work for submanifolds of all dimensions. We get around this difficulty and establish spectral projection bounds by the wave kernel techniques and the bootstrap argument involving an induction on the dimensions of the submanifolds.

Abstract:In this short survey, we derive some weyl-type universal inequalities of eigenvalues of the Laplacian on a closed Riemannian manifold of nonnegative Ricci curvature. We also give upper bounds for the $L_{\infty}$ norm of eigenfunctions of the Laplacian in the same setting. A detailed proof of these results did not seem to appear in the literature but the results follow from a simple combination of Milman's work and Cheng-Li's work.

Abstract:The usual Sobolev inequality in $\mathbb{R}^N$, asserts that $\|\nabla u\|_{L^p(\mathbb{R}^N)} \geq \mathcal{S}\|u\|_{L^{p^*}(\mathbb{R}^N)}$ for $1<p<N$ and $p^*=\frac{pN}{N-p}$, with $\mathcal{S}$ being the sharp constant. Based on a recent work of Figalli and Zhang [Duke Math. Abstract:Let $X$ be a ball Banach function space on $\mathbb{R}^n$. In this article, under some mild assumptions about both $X$ and the boundedness of the Hardy--Littlewood maximal operator on both $X$ and the associate space of its convexification, the authors successfully recover the homogeneous ball Banach Sobolev semi-norm $\|\,|\nabla f|\,\|_X$ via the functional $$ \sup_{\lambda\in(0,\infty)}\lambda \left\|\left[\int_{\{y\in\mathbb{R}^n:\ |f(\cdot)-f(y)|>\lambda|\cdot-y|^{1+\frac{\gamma}{q}}\}} \left|\cdot-y\right|^{\gamma-n}\,dy\right]^\frac{1}{q}\right\|_X $$ for any distributions $f$ with $|\nabla f|\in X$, as well as the corresponding limiting identities with the limit for $\lambda\to\infty$ when $\gamma\in(0,\infty)$ or the limit for $\lambda\to0^+$ when $\gamma\in(-\infty,0)$, where $\gamma\in\mathbb{R}\setminus\{0\}$ and where $q\in(0,\infty)$ is related to $X$. In particular, some of these results are still new even when $X:=L^p(X)$ with $p\in[1,\infty)$. As applications, the authors obtain some fractional Sobolev-type and some fractional Gagliardo--Nirenberg-type inequalities in the setting of $X$. All these results are of quite wide generality and are applied to various specific function spaces, including Morrey, mixed-norm (or variable or weighted) Lebesgue, Lorentz, and Orlicz (or Orlicz-slice) spaces, some of which are new even in all these special cases. The novelty of this article is to use both the method of the extrapolation and the boundedness of the Hardy--Littlewood maximal operator on both $X$ and the associate space of its convexification to overcome the essential difficulties caused by the deficiency of both the translation and the rotation invariance and an explicit expression of the norm of $X$.

Abstract:We prove certain $L^p$ Sobolev-type and Poincaré-type inequalities for functions on real and complex manifolds for the gradient operator $\nabla$, the Laplace operator $\Delta$, and the operator $\bar\partial$. Integral representations for functions are key to get such inequalities. The proofs of the main results involves certain uniform estimates for the Green functions and their gradients on Riemannian manifolds, which are also established in the present work.

Abstract: This paper is devoted to various applications of Hardy-Sobolev type inequalities. We derive a new $L^2$ estimate for the $\bar{\partial}-$equation on ${\mathbb C}^n$ which yields a quantitative generalization of the Hartogs extension theorem to the case when the singularity set is not necessary compact. We show that for any negative subharmonic function $\psi$ on ${\mathbb R}^n$, $n>2$, the BMO norm of $\log |\psi|$ is bounded above by $2\sqrt{n-2}$ and $|\psi|^\gamma$ satisfies a reverse H\"older inequality for every $0<\gamma<1$. We also show that every plurisubharmonic function is locally BMO. Several Liouville theorems for subharmonic functions on complete Riemannian manifolds are given. As a consequence, we get a Margulis type theorem that if a bounded domain in ${\mathbb C}^n$ covers a Zariski open set in a projective algebraic variety, then the group of deck transformations of the covering has trivial center.
On Sobolev norms involving Hardy operators in a half-space

Abstract:We consider Hardy operators on the half-space, that is, ordinary and fractional Schrödinger operators with potentials given by the appropriate power of the distance to the boundary. We show that the scales of homogeneous Sobolev spaces generated by the Hardy operators and by the fractional Laplacian are comparable with each other when the coupling constant is not too large in a quantitative sense. Our results extend those in the whole Euclidean space and rely on recent heat kernel bounds.

Abstract:We consider eigenfunction estimates in $L^p$ for Schrödinger operators, $H_V=-\Delta_g+V(x)$, on compact Riemannian manifolds $(M, g)$. Eigenfunction estimates over the full manifolds were already obtained by Sogge \cite{Sogge1988concerning} for $V\equiv 0$ and the first author, Sire, and Sogge \cite{BlairSireSogge2021Quasimode}, and the first author, Huang, Sire, and Sogge \cite{BlairHuangSireSogge2022UniformSobolev} for critically singular potentials $V$. For the corresponding restriction estimates for submanifolds, the case $V\equiv 0$ was considered in Burq, Gérard, and Tzvetkov \cite{BurqGerardTzvetkov2007restrictions}, and Hu \cite{Hu2009lp}. In this article, we will handle eigenfunction restriction estimates for some submanifolds $\Sigma$ on compact Riemannian manifolds $(M, g)$ with $n:=\dim M\geq 2$, where $V$ is a singular potential.

Abstract:We study the most general class of eigenfunction expansions for abstract normal operators with pure point spectrum in a complex Hilbert space. We find sufficient conditions for such expansions to be unconditionally convergent in spaces with two norms and also estimate the degree of this convergence. Our result essentially generalizes and complements the known theorems of Krein and of Krasnosel'skiĭ and Pustyl'nik. We apply it to normal elliptic pseudodifferential operators on compact boundaryless -manifolds. We find generic conditions for eigenfunction expansions induced by such operators to converge unconditionally in the Sobolev spaces with or in the spaces (specifically, for the -th mean or uniform convergence on the manifold). These conditions are sufficient and necessary for the indicated convergence on Sobolev or Hörmander function classes and are given in terms of parameters characterizing these classes. We also find estimates for the degree of the convergence on such function classes. These results are new even for differential operators on the circle and for multiple Fourier series.

Abstract:Generalizing a result of Berndtsson and Charpentier, we provide sufficient conditions for $L^2$ Sobolev regularity of the Bergman projection acting on $L^2$ sections of a holomorphic line bundle restricted to a relatively compact domain with Lipschitz boundary in a Hermitian manifold. We provide examples to show that our methods work for domains in Hopf manifolds endowed with a suitable Hermitian metric.

Abstract:We prove the existence of Sobolev extension operators for certain uniform classes of domains in a Riemannian manifold with an explicit uniform bound on the norm depending only on the geometry near their boundaries. We use this quantitative estimate to obtain uniform Neumann heat kernel upper bounds and gradient estimates for positive solutions of the Neumann heat equation assuming integral Ricci curvature conditions and geometric conditions on the possibly non-convex boundary. Those estimates also imply quantitative lower bounds on the first Neumann eigenvalue of the considered domains.

Abstract:This article studies the canonical Hilbert energy $H^{s/2}(M)$ on a Riemannian manifold for $s\in(0,2)$, with particular focus on the case of closed manifolds. Several equivalent definitions for this energy and the fractional Laplacian on a manifold are given, and they are shown to be identical up to explicit multiplicative constants. Moreover, the precise behavior of the kernel associated with the singular integral definition of the fractional Laplacian is obtained through an in-depth study of the heat kernel on a Riemannian manifold. Furthermore, a monotonicity formula for stationary points of functionals of the type $$ \mathcal E(v)=[v]^2_{H^{s/2}(M)}+\int_M F(v) \, dV \,, \,\,\, F \ge 0 \,, $$ is given, which includes, in particular, the case of nonlocal $s$-minimal surfaces. Finally, we prove some estimates for the Caffarelli-Silvestre extension problem, which are of general interest.

Abstract:We establish a uniform Sobolev inequality for Kähler metrics, which only require an entropy bound and no lower bound on the Ricci curvature. We further extend our Sobolev inequality to singular Kähler metrics on Kähler spaces with normal singularities. This allows us to build a general theory of global geometric analysis on singular Kähler spaces including the spectral theorem, heat kernel estimates, eigenvalue estimates and diameter estimates. Such estimates were only known previously in very special cases such as Bergman metrics. As a consequence, we derive various geometric estimates, such as the diameter estimate and the Sobolev inequality, for Kähler-Einstein currents on projective varieties with definite or vanishing first Chern class.

Abstract:If $(M,g)$ is a compact Riemannian manifold of dimension $n\ge 2$ we give necessary and sufficient conditions for improved $L^p(M)$-norms of eigenfunctions for all $2<p\ne p_c=\tfrac{2(n+1)}{n-1}$, the critical exponent. Since improved $L^{p_c}(M)$ bounds imply improvement all other exponents, these conditions are necessary for improved bounds for the critical space. We also show that improved $L^{p_c}(M)$ bounds are valid if these conditions are met and if the half-wave operators, $U(t)$, have no caustics when $t\ne 0$. The problem of finding a necessary and sufficient condition for $L^{p_c}(M)$ improvement remains an interesting open problem.
