Clinical Analysis of 50 Caces of Lung Cancer with Pericardial Effusion

Abstract:Objective To study the clinical features and treatment of pericardial effusion resulted from lung cancer.Methods The clinical materials are retrospectively analysed.Results Patients with pericardical effusion accout for 10.9% of all patients with lung cancer in the same period.88% of them had effusion in the thoracic cavity and 42% had abnormal ECG at the same time.Better results were achieved in the group in which intra-pericardial DDP chemotherapy plus systemic chemotherapy was applied,compared with the group in which only systemic chemotherapy was used.Conclusions Ultrasound examination of pericardium should be used to detect pericardial effusion in those lung cancer patients who have thoracic cavity effusion or abnormal ECG.Intra-pericardial chemotherapy plus systemic chemotherapy has better effect on controlling pericardial effusion than single use of systemic chemotherapy.
