Abstract:Objective: To investigate the correlation between bone mineral density(BMD) of the distal radius and local fracture, and to provide information for preventing and treating the osteoporotic fractures of distal radius. Methods: All 76 cases with no-violent fracture, aged over 50 years old, were compared to 92 healthy volunteers with the same age and sex,but no history of bone fracture. They were divided into three groups according to age: 50~59 years old,60~69 years old and over 69 years old.The fracture was diagnosed by X-ray,and the BMD of the distal radius were detected by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry machine. All data were analysis statistically. Results: The BMD of the radial distal in fracture group was lower than the normal group. The detection rate of osteoporosis and bone loss was 81.46% in fracture group. Conclusion: There is closely relationship between no-violent fracture of radial distal and its BMD.The risk of fracture caused by low BMD is much higher than normal subjects, and there is no significant difference between different age groups.Women are high-risk groups of osteoporotic fracture of radial distal, and so they should put emphasis on prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.
