Abstract:This paper introduces virtual instruments technology and develops a hydraulic test bench based on it. This test bench realizes the function of data acquisition, real-time display, output configuration, pressure adjustment, test data saving and report generation. Architecture of the test bench is introduced and its LabVIEW-based software design method is illustrated in detail. Compared to traditional systems, this test bench has many advantages like fast designing, easily expanding and automatic data judgment.

Abstract:A hardware-in-the-loop simulation of a three-shaft gas turbine engine for ship propulsion was established. This system is composed of computers, actual hardware, measuring instruments, interfaces between actual hardware and computers, and a network for communication, as well as the relevant software, including mathematical models of the gas turbine engine. "Hardware-in-the-loop" and "volume inertia effects" are the two innovative features of this simulation system. In comparison to traditional methods for gas turbine simulation, the new simulation platform can be implemented in real time and also can test the physical hardware's performance through their integration with the mathematical simulation model. A fuel control strategy for a three-shaft gas turbine engine, which can meet the requirement to the acceleration time and not exceeding surge line, was developed using this platform.

Abstract:The paper introduces the development procedure of rapid control prototype in marine electric propulsion system, concrete implementation in each subsystem of hull-propeller-engine model by Matlab/SIMULINK, building process of hardware-in-the-loop simulation system and procedure of developing real-time system by dSPACE. The key questions and technical essentials involved in the hardware-in-the-loop simulation of marine electric propulsion system are introduced briefly. The whole design of the systemic technical scheme, the selection and control of the controller and processor, the work principle of the hardware-in-the-loop simulation and the result of simulation are also involved.

Abstract:Using parallel operation technology based on host-client machines,distributed hardware-in-loop simulation technology in MATLAB was researched.It resolved the difficulties in real-time simulation of complex system because of its heavy calculation and high precision requirement.With the achievement received,a distributed hardware-in-loop simulation flat of electric drive system for armored tracklayer,which consists of control hardware,simulation models and Virtual Reality output was developed.This simulation flat tested its validity and proved that what acquired provided a scientific and effective measure to research hardware-in-loop simulation technology of complex system.

Abstract:As a control equipment of electrohydraulic proportional valve,the proportional valve amplifier can drive the spool of electrohydraulic proportional valve and collect the spool feedback to form a closed-loop control.By a hardware-in-the-loop simulation of Rexroth electrohydraulic proportional valve,a new proportional valve amplifier test method based on the NI-PXI platform and the software LabVIEW,is introduced to collect drive singles,build up transfer function model and simulate spool displacement feedback to the amplifier.The results show that the method is able to replace the Rexroth proportional valve to complete closed-loop control with Rexroth proportional valve amplifier to some extent.

Abstract:This paper adopts volume method to establish the non-iterative simulation model of gas turbine, which simplifies calculation process and reduces calculation time, thus provides the necessary condition for the hardware-in-the-loop real time simulation. The simulation platform is composed of three sections, the functions of which are independent of each other: one is in charge of the real time calculation of gas turbine model, one is responsible for the data exchange and communication, the last is for the dynamic display of simulation result; these three sections are linked by a network switch. Therefore, this platform has flexibility and expansibility; we can replace physical part or add module without great modification. It is of great importance to study the dynamic characteristic and manipulative rule of gas turbine owing to its real time feature.

Abstract:The hardware-in-loop simulation is hotspot and difficulty in the simulation field and very useful in studying the characteristic and control strategy of a system. According to the feature of fuel cell-gas turbine combined cycle system, the hardware-in-loop simulation system of combined cycle is brought forward which is composed of host computer、client computer and correlative hardware. The software portion of the client computer has been developed based on PLC. The functions of sampling data, communicating with host computer, controlling the system's parameters have been realized. The main codes of the program have been introduced. The result of the experimentation indicates that the program of the client computer in the hardware-in-loop simulation system is very good on the view of real-time、precision、stability .

Abstract:In order to facilitate the development of hybrid powertrain controller and build a test environment, a hardware-in-the-loop simulation system is developed based on Virtual instrument technology. The system is constructed with LabVIEW RT and Embedded PC. And a rapid prototyping controller is tested both on this HIL simulation system and test bench. The comparison results between simulation and bench test show that the hardware-in-the-loop simulation system can simulate hybrid powertrain well and meet the requirements of hybrid powertrain system development.

Abstract:Turbine model testing is an important part of hydraulic research.Traditional turbine model test system has disadvantages of low accuracy,low level of automation,and complex operation.A new turbine model test system based on NI PXI platform and Virtual Instrument Software LabVIEW is developed in this study.First a test platform of turbine model is described,then hardware and software are designed for this system.The system has been successfully applied to the test platform of Harbin institute of Large Electric Machinery and it can achieve the functions of data acquisition,data processing and display,generating report,analyzing signal and so on.This application shows that it has features of high accuracy,reliable stability,high automation,and simple operation,which has reference value for engineering application.

Abstract:A self-designed hardware-in-the-loop simulation system for diesel is introduced, which can be used to improve the efficiency of developing engine electronic control units. In this system, a standard personal computer serves operating console, through which the software is controlled and hardware is connected. The diesel model performs well by using floating-point DSP running at 40 MHz. An intelligent interface module using 80196 microprocessor supports the excellent real-time behavior of the system by transmitting signals between modules quickly and accurately. Common memories are used for saving and delivering data in the system, but with different types for different modules. For the engine simulation, a simplified non-linear model is developed, which could meet the real time running demand while the accuracy is good enough for studying the engine's dynamics. And the system's performance is proved by some simulation results provided.

Abstract:This paper presents an hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation system tool to test and validate an autonomous free running model system for ship hydrodynamic studies with a view to verification of the code, the control logic and system peripherals. The computer simulation of the plant model in real-time computer does not require the actual physical system and reduces the development cost and time for control design and testing purposes. The HIL system includes: the actual programmable embedded controller along with peripherals and a plant model virtually simulated in a real-time computer. With regard to ship controller design for ship model testing, this study describes a plant model for surge and a Nomoto first order steering dynamics, both implemented using Simulink software suit. The surge model captures a quasi-steady state relationship between surge speed and the propeller rpms, obtained from simple forward speed towing tank tests or derived analytically. The Nomoto first order steering dynamics is obtained by performing the standard turning circle test at model scale. The control logic obtained is embedded in a NI-cRIO based controller. The surge and steering dynamics models are used to design a proportional-derivative controller and an LQR controller. The controller runs a Linux based real-time operating system programmed using LabVIEW software. The HIL simulation tool allows for the emulation of standard ship hydrodynamic tests consisting of straight line, turning circle and zigzag to validate the combined system performance, prior to actual for use in the autonomous free-running tests.

Abstract:Hardware-in-loop simulation (HILS) is an important approach to the development of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) systems. In this paper, a complete HILS system for UAV was constructed based on the dSPACE real-time simulator. To simulate the real world situation, problems such as the GPS signal and accelerometer signal imitation were addressed in the dSPACE framework. The HILS simulation of a UAV's take-off process was exhibited with comparison to the digital simulation; the results show effectiveness of the proposed HILS system..

Abstract:This paper introduced the design of Hardware-in-the-loop(HIL)simulation system of hybrid vehicle powertrain control module based on CAN bus.The system used the chip MC68376 of Motorola finished the signal receiving and transmitting.Developed the interface of control in the computer using the software of LabVIEW Provided a firm foundation for the development of hardware and software of powertrain control module.The engine mean value model,motor model,battery model are developed in PC.The results were given and show that this HIL can save both time and cost.

Abstract:This paper presents a hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) system for work-class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to verify the motion controller, and further address the high-risk and cost shakedown test and sea trial. The simulated parts in the HIL system include the ship/shore-boarded monitoring unit, visual simulation engine and ROV simulator. And the hardware part in the HIL system denotes the ROVs-boarded controller. The ship/shore-boarded monitoring unit plays a pilot-ROVs interactive role, which presents the real-time ROVs states, and provides an operation panel for the pilot. The visual simulation engine provides a three-dimensional underwater environment, intuitive ROVs location and attitude information for the pilot, which runs the MarineSIM software driven by Unreal Engine 4 (UE4). Besides, the ROV simulator runs the ROV mathematic model, which is designed to simulate the ROV motion states and provide the navigation sensors and actuators feedback to the ship/shore-boarded monitoring unit. The hardware controller runs the control algorithm and software, which solves the control tasks from the control console and distributes control instructions to ROV actuators. Furthermore, the network communication protocols between different units are designed to be homogeneous with real objective ROVs. Finally, the effectiveness and reliability of the HIL system are verified based on the HIL simulation experiment.

Abstract:In order to validate the control logic and performance for the control system of heavy-duty gas turbine, the construction work of simulation testing platform based on hardware in the loop( HIL) is necessary.Firstly, we set up a high precision mathematical model for heavy-duty gas turbines;secondly, we built the speed parts of HIL in the way of frequency converter driving motor.By comparing the experimental results of pure digital simulation with HIL simulation, we modified the control system and get a better control perform-ance.Since the principle of building HIL is to simulate the real situation of power plant, the optimization process for control system in this article also applies for commissioning debugging, which has certain guidance in the future for shortening the debug cycle test, sav-ing expenditure and reducing the risk , etc.

Abstract:A novel method of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) co-simulation is proposed to improve the efficiency of research and development of the vehicle independent suspension (VIS) system by using both Matlab and Adams software. Primarily, the interfaces, which have inputs and outputs, are created after the mechanic system model of the VIS system was built in Adams software. Secondly, the control model in Simulink is established with system functions calling underlying drivers of different data acquisition (DAQ) card and blocks of Matlab/Simulink, to achieve communication among DAQ card, Simulink environment and Adams software. Finally, the HIL co-simulation system of the VIS is successfully implemented and its entire process is controlled via graphical user interface (GUI) of Matlab software. Experimental results show that the HIL co-simulation system of VIS has preferable dynamic characteristics and the feedback control circuit functions correctly.

Abstract:An approach of hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation and pre-integration for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC)-micro gas turbine (MGT) hybrid generation hybrid system is being presented. With model-based combustor as SOFC simulator and turbocharger as MGT simulator, the experimental system is available to simulate different operations including normal, starting, part-load and transient conditions in both pressurized and atmospheric modes, while the state-of-the-art experimental systems are only suitable for single working mode. Via comparison with the conventionally iterative development of controlling algorithms, the V-type controller design based on Matlab/xPC Target and PowerPC5xx rapid control prototypes is further discussed.
